Team-BHP has shared some pictures of a camouflaged Tata Nano undergoing testing in Pune. It’s quite a surprising development since only recently in June did Tata Motors launch a facelifted version, the 2013 Nano. Now with these pictures doing the rounds speculation is that early next year, the Nano is likely to get yet another facelift.
The Tata Nano is supposed to be a money spinner for the Tatas but its image in recent times has taken a beating and it is struggling to find a market, hence this move to recapture customers. The Pune-based manufacturer has been working on a number of different variants of Nano which include facelifts and different engine options as well.
The mule that has been spotted is camouflaged from the rear and front bumper. It is claimed that this is the new Nano petrol facelift that will be seen on the Nano diesel, once it is launched this year.
The changes then will be seen especially on the rear and front bumpers. A hatchback lid and a new positioning for the exhaust pipe are the major changes. Although this is an unfinished model, the tail pipe on the car here exits from the middle, which further indicates that this is the petrol version of the Nano.
Bowing to customer responses the openable hatch at the back could be a step in the right direction. Also based on feedback, it seems that the company has been thinking of offering power steering as well. Team-BHP sources have also revealed that a bigger engined Nano is being readied up at Tata Motors' Engineering Research Center at Pimpri, off Pune. The petrol Nano with a larger engine is likely to hit the testing circuit in the coming months.
