The Tata Altroz has taken a long time for its release in the domestic market. But that is finally set to change as Tata Motors has revealed that it will preview the production-spec Altroz in India in the first week of December.
The premium hatchback was earlier slated to be launched in India in August 2019. However, the company decided to postpone it, as it wanted to introduce the BS-VI compliant version of the car right from the launch. The Tata Altroz is likely to be launched in India in early 2020.
The Altroz was spotted completely undisguised earlier this month in Europe during its TVC shoot. It will be the first product to be based on the ALFA platform, which will also underpin a mini SUV that will be based on the Tata H2X concept. The Altroz will be the widest car in the premium hatchback segment but will have the shortest wheelbase. It will have a boot space capacity of 341 litres.
Under the hood, the Tata Altroz will be offered with two petrol engines and a diesel motor. It will get an 84bhp 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor from the Tiago and a 102bhp 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Nexon. The diesel version will get a 90bhp 1.5-litre four-cylinder oil burner. Initially, the car is expected to be available only with a manual transmission, while an automatic gearbox is likely to follow later.
