It takes just two seconds for 80 lightning strikes to occur on earth or for 1.5 million gallons of water to flow over the Niagra falls. Starting to see a pattern? Two seconds-That’s how long reports are suggesting that it will take the upcoming Nissan Nismo GT-R to go from 0-100kmph.
The magnitude of such an achievement (if it is true) is phenomenal, when you consider that the current record holder of the fastest accelerating production car in the world, the Hennessey Venom GT does 0-100kmph in 2.7 seconds.
There is no clarity on how Nissan and Williams Advanced Engineering who the car is jointly being developed with are planning to extract this kind of performance from the GT-R’s 3.8-litre twin turbo V6 mill as it is believed that the engine is already running at extreme performance level in the current car. We believe that they will make extensive use of carbon fibre to reduce weight and a previously announced KERS system to churn out over 650PS.
The car is expected to get many design cues and features from the Nismo GT-R race car. It is expected to be launched next year and will be priced at least a crore more than the standard car.
