2015 Audi RS3 showcased at the Geneva Motor Show

The final production version of the new Audi RS3 has been unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, in Switzerland. 

The performance-focussed hot hatch gets several cosmetic tweaks at the front end to prevent confusion with the standard A3. The fascia sports a uniquely styled beard grille with a matte aluminium finish and honeycomb design. The lower bumper also gets new air ducts and silver coloured blades. Compared to the standard A3, the RS3 also gets a wider track and a lowered suspension setup. Braking power has also been strengthened thanks to bigger brakes, which are now also available with carbon ceramics discs.

The Audi RS3 is based on Volkswagen’s highly competent MQB platform and is powered by a 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine. The engine is good for 362bhp and comes mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Weight saving measures in the chassis have ensured that the new model is 55 kilograms lighter than its predecessor. 

With bookings set to commence by the end of March, the RS3 will be priced at GBP 39,950 (Rs 37.89 lakh), making it more expensive than its rivals – the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG and the BMW M135 i Steptronic. Spend some extra money and Audi will delimit the car for you, making it capable of reaching speeds up to 280kmph. While the car is only available as a hatchback right now, reports suggest that the German manufacturer is also developing a saloon version, to rival the Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG.
