2013 Toyota Innova facelift in the pipeline

Toyota is readying a facelift for their highly successful Innova MPV which in its current iteration sells close to 5000 units monthly. The car was first introduced to the Indian market in 2005 and has gone through two facelifts in its seven years of existence. The last upgrade will likely include a number of cosmetic additions both in and out.

A recent spy shot from Indonesia, speculated to be that of the next generation Innova flaunts a broad chrome plated grille baring the Toyota Logo. The bumper has also been re-chiselled and now features a chrome beading around the fog lamps.

The rear upgrades include the addition of a broad chrome plate and an extra set of reflectors on either side.  The interior modifications have not been revealed, but it is expected to incorporate a few minor additions to the existing feature list.

Engine changes are highly unlikely for the facelift, implying that the 2.0-litre 132PS petrol and the 2.5-litre 101PS diesel engine will keep its place on the new model along with the five speed manual gearbox and the rear-wheel drive powertrain.

The Innova is still the undisputed winner of the MPV segment in India despite a various attempts by Nissan, Chevrolet and Maruti to dethrone it from the throne. The package clubbing practicality and reliability is one area that makes the Innova stand out from its competitors and the facelift is only expected to be take the Innova further away from the pack.
