I took delivery of Pajero Sport from Maya Motors, Chennai on 7th May'12 and drove it to Bengaluru, where i stay. For the next 7 days i have been driving it 30-40 kms a day. She has done about 700 kms so far out of which half is on highway and rest in city.
I actively considered Toyota Fortuner and Hyundai Santa Fe and took a test ride in both. However, ended up having a Pajero Sport which i had not taken a test ride on, not even seen physically !
What a fantastic decision in the end ?!!! 😊
It takes me around 30-min to my office in the morning if i start a little early and those 30-min are the happiest in my life now.
The posture on driver seat, the view thru the windshield, that grip on the steering wheel, responsiveness of the engine after 2000rpm, smoothness of the drive, ease with which she tackles the speed breakers and handles the rough patches on the road, manoeuvrability in traffic ... .. .
and the head-turner that she is ... .. .
the experience is like WOW !

Exterior Impressive looks and makes presence on the road. Great road clearance.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors are nice and comfortable. Leather seats and lots of space if rear two rows of seats are folded.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is smooth and gear box is very nice and shifting of gears is smooth. Steering is a bit heavy and needs improvement.
Ride Quality & Handling Very comfortable ride and feel safe inside. Strong body build and muscular. Handling is nice on most roads and bends. Very comfortable on hilly roads and pick up is very good.
Final Words I have driven the sports for a few thousand KM already and find it a great vehicle to own. I have driven on very bad roads of Uttrakhand and Billaspur/Rudrapur road with deep pits and completely broken down road. I was the only one driving fast on such a bad road. Great feel to be driving freely on bad roads. Overall performance is very good. Fantastic road clerance so no fear of speed breakers and deep pits on the road. Very comfortable ride on bad roads.

Exterior Has a deadly look. Very strudy.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Space is very good and better than all the competitiors, Very comfortable have driven the car at a streach for 6 hours and never felt any discomfort.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Fuel economy in city is 10.6 and in highway 13. Gearbox is fine.
Final Words I have driven the vehicle for more than 11000 kms in last 6 months and is very happy. 4WD features are excellent. Very comfortable to drive. I do on an average of 50 kms daily city driving and very comfortable. I have taken it for a 1000 km drive and the drive was very smooth. Good audio system. I am totally in love with the vehicle. Space wise it is one of the best SUV in the class with very good leg space in the 3 row also.
Areas of improvement It would have been great if they have improved the overall multi media system in the car. Sunroof would have been better.

Exterior Very bold and tall stance separates it from all its competitors the only SUV in this price range that is comparable is Toyota Fortuner.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Modern, Comfotable and neet. The entertainment system is a big eye sore and comes from the 1980's. Asence of a modern touch panel and naviagtion(present in fortuner) is a big drawback for a car woth over 25 lacs on road.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox For a 2500 CC engine very responsive and best in the class. fastest pickup among the competitors and excellent offroad ability definately make it a desirable car.
Ride Quality & Handling The ride quality is very good and specially when offroading.
Final Words I was planning to buy the Pajero sport but when I did my research I found that in Thailand and Philippines the car comes with a state of the art touch screen display with navigation and reverse camera and is 5% cheaper than Toyota fortuner. If the company wants to capture Indian market it will need to put its best foot forward and bring in the best and most modern fitments and get the pricing right. It is a beautiful SUV but the company has to realize that at this price point in a mature market like India it can not save much by cutting corners.

Exterior Looks best in the class. Rally grills give a sporty look. 210mm ground clearence can go any kind of terrain.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Spacious and comfortable seating. The last row is suitable for kids.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Upto 1200-1300 RPM engine struggle to deliver power. Once it crosses that range, you feel the power of the moster. During overtaking lower a gear and then it goes like a rocket. I have driven 6000 Km and get average 9.9 kmpl. Might get little bit more if remain in 80kmph range. Gearbox is smooth, except for the shift from 5th to 4th. During this shift sometimes it does not go to the slot easily.
Ride Quality & Handling Excellent ride quality in this price range. upto 140kmph feel full control. Tested upto 160kmph on Bangalore- Salem Highway. Excellent suspension. Do not fee the uneveness in skid roads. Stearing is hard in low speeds, especially during parking etc, anyway it is for tough guys. Climbed a hill in my rubber plantation which is > 60deg angle and with boulders and no road.Only in 4 LLC can do it though.
Final Words Excellent SUV in this price range.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The Sport does feel a bit narrow though, and that means sitting three abreast is not as comfortable as it could have been. And while access to the third row is relatively easy and the middle-row seats flip beautifully upon pulling a lever, the space in the rear is only really useable by children. The cabin has plenty of storage, especially, in and around the central console, and there’s even space for some luggage in the rear.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The Pajero Sport has modern up-to-the-minute, common-rail-diesel-equipped SUV. This is clearly Mitsubishi’s best diesel engine yet. It has also impressive integration of the gearbox.
Ride Quality & Handling Mitsubishi has thoroughly engineered, the company’s knowledge base on off-roaders is second to none .
Final Words This is clearly Mitsubishi’s best SUV yet
Areas of improvement Its handling may not be anywhere as sharp as hoped, side airbag, cruise control & Xenon head lamp.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox😊 in city i drive between 50 - 60 speed and get the fuel economy on auto mode from 13.5 to 14.3 and if idrive faster ofcourse it goes down to 10.9 and even some times more down ...but for sure last time i filled 60 liter of disel which gave the ride for 756km ( including city and highway ride)
about the speed range i took it till 175 not more than that but one owner of another p.sport told me while we were in agency for the service of the vichel that he took his suv to 200 and the needle was exceeding 200 when he used to drive down from a flyover on delhi amritsar highway.
Ride Quality & Handling Very smooth driving and braking quality is also good.
Final Words Best suv to buy then any other in this price tag.😎
Areas of improvement Needs sunroof, bluetooth for mobiles, and many more accesories which you need not to buy from out market. eg ( scuff plates, good quality matts, back view mirror camera, sun visors, spoiler, guards, catch covers, etc).
