      The SX4 is one car I never expected to turn out as i thought it would.

      Firstly, its loaded to the gills with all sorts of gadets and features that one would not even find in a car twice its price. Its got Audio controls mounted on the steering, climate control(not present on the city), Airbags and ABS.

      Not to forget the massive grip from the humungous 16 inch alloys 225/60 R16 radials that offer phenomenal grip and traction under any cirumstances.

      This is where the SX4 shows its EUROPEAN roots as its BUILD QUALITY IS VERY GOOD and the rugged suspension is perfect for Indian roads.

      This car feels much more plush and rich than one may think,its seats are fabulous and are fantastically bolstered with great support and they are very wide too at 134cm of shoulder room.

      Legroom is also at a premium at 91cm( more than the City's 87cm) and even 6 footers can stretch nicely in the cabin.

      The ENGINE is the LIFE of the car as it breathes FIRE through its exhaust pipes ... Its one of the most torqiest engines in its class and even a segment above as all of the torque is available for as low as 1500 rpm ,which makes the car effortless to drive in any gear.

      The timings I have acheived using a GPS :

      0-60 kmph = 4.95sec

      0-100 kmph = 10.88 sec

      440 yards = 17.23 sec at 134 kmph

      The fuel efficieny is possibly the only factor that may seem mediocre in this otherwise outstanding car. A real world figure of 10.5kmpl in the city with a heavy foot is the minimum one can expect, while this hoots up to 16.1kmpl on the highway.

      This is truly a fantastic car thats LOADED TO THE GILLS with all sorts of equipment and at a mouth-watering price of 7.8 Lakh on road. This coupled with Maruti's bullet proof service and resale value just makes the deal a whole lot sweeter.

      Exterior

      SX4 has a muscular looks at the exterior and good ground clearance. The rear is awesome with the multireflecting tail lamps! Stylish curves, tall stance and 16 inch wheels is the best car in beauty.


      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

      On the interior, SX4 is loaded with many features I like. It has good steering and the grip is sufficient to control this beast. The seats are plushy and gives a very luxury feel. The front seats has good thigh support too. The rear seat can easily accomodate 3 adults. The boot space is enormous. Its best in its class.


      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

      Engine is Peppy and the introduction of automatic gear is a boon for city drivers. This big car can now be easily driven even in bumper to bumper traffic. Fuel of 15 kmpl is consistent with this highly refined engine. The gear box is ultrasmooth and gives a perfect pull in all gears.

       

      Ride Quality & Handling

      Maruti has done a wonderful job in providing the best ride quality for SX4. The suspension is velvetty avoiding almost all jerks from entering into the cabin. even the engine noise is unheard at higher speeds.


      Final Words

      If you are looking for a value for money luxurious sedan, go for SX4, with Maruti's service back up and superb resale value, you can buy SX4 without any worries.

      Intro - I'm an IT Manager with limited knowledge on auto technology. Thanks to Carwale, I zeroed in on SX4 last year after comparing & test driving 8 other vehicles across segments (only other car I liked equally was Honda Jazz but price did not make sense).

       

      Exterior I wanted a powerful looking sedan/hatchback against feminine Linea or City looks. Not much competetion for SX4 there.

       

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Height (especially Headroom) was a criteria since I switched from Santro (another good car) - SX4 has the best. Space/Sitting position is good for everyone ... too good for person on back seat.  Features at par with competetion - I added parking alarm with sound and display on top of my rear view mirror (I learnt that Honda does not allow such add-ons by threat of void warranty).

       

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Fuel economy around 13km/ltr in city and 15 on highway. Gearbox is smooth but reverse gear sucks sometime.

       

      Ride Quality & Handling Very comfortable with strong shock absorbers & high ground clearance  for Indian roads. Most of the times, I drive gentle in Pune traffic. Sometimes I feel like pushing the car to test it's limits in city as well as Highway - it never disappoints. Highest speed I tried on Bypass highway = 130 kph and Car was pretty stable; sudden braking at 100kph was stable as well. Once I drove at speed of 40-50 kph off road for 20 kms.

       

      Final Words I drove Acura 3.2TL in US for few years and wanted a similar experience for Indian Road/Trffic conditions. I'm happy I chose SX4  - thank you Maruti & Suzuki.

       

      Areas of improvement I leave it for auto gurus to decide.

      Exterior Exterior is excellent and looks like SUV cum Sedan car,Excellent ground clearance,Muscular look,Heavy tyres with Alloy wheels looks very good.

       

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very spacious,Above 6 feet person can sit on driver seat easily(not on Honda city),Good leg space for front and rear seats,Adjustable front seats,Electronic side mirror view,Saet belt adjustable as per sitting posture,Three persons can sit easily at rear seats,Good integrated music system with six speakers(with USB feature),Excellent boot space of 500 ltrs.

       

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance is excellent,My friend once drove my car and thought my car is not ON!!!!Silent engine while driving,Excellent pick-up,Changing gear is good,Getting average of 15/ltr. with good riding in city (not bumper to bumper).

       

      Ride Quality & Handling Ride Quality is excellent and doesn't feel stiffness anywhere while driving this car,No vibration in car even after 170 of speed,Power steering is excellent!!!easy turning,ABS is very good.

       

      Final Words I would recommend for this car and it's value for money whereas Honda takes approx. 1.5 lakh more with less feature.

       

      Areas of improvement Rear view while parking needs to be improved and parking sensors is a must and should be integrated(it costs Rs.4400) with this car.

       

      Good Style,Muscular look,Good ground clearance,SUV cum SedanDoesn't get the rear view properly while backing.

      I own an SX4 Vxi & I have driven 3500kms...I am listing out the good & the bad things of this car...Please take into consideration that this is my first car, so I may be wrong in some aspects...


      Things I like:

      1. Very good mileage.(almost 13.5kmpl in heavy city traffic without AC, in highway with ac about 13kmpl)
      2. Raw power. It seems 120kmph is nothing for this beast.
      3. Great looks(only the rear is a bit too high). Perhaps this is the most stylish looking car made in India till date.
      4. Front seating is very comfortable & spacious.
      5. Getting into & out of the vehicle is very easy as it is taller than all the other sedans(for elder people also).
      6. The ground clearance is very good.
      7. Steering is very easy at all speeds.
      8. Brakes are good(I don't have ABS).
      9. AC is good(a bit noisy but I guess that is same for all cars).
      10. Cabin is almost totally sound proof.


      Things I don't like:

      1. The drivers view is totally blocked while taking a right turn.
      2. Backing up is a problem due to poor rear visibility.
      3. Engine is a bit noisy in lower gears(above 3000rpm @ 1st or 2nd gear)
      4. Sometimes shifting in reverse gear gives me a problem.
      5. The rear middle seat is a bit cramped & uncomfortable due to the hand rest.
      6. Interiors look a bit cheap.

      All in all I feel this is a very good buy under 7lacs onroad. I hope this topic will be helpful for buyers. I also request the owners to post their valuable opinions.Good fuel economy,Pretty Good style,Raw power,easy to get in & outCheap dashboard,less spacious rear sitting,driver's side view bad

      I have been using this car from June 2007  Its an excellent car to drive . Good fuel economy and good features of Safety with ABS EBD etc. Its an excellent value for money

      I only wish the car had automatic transmission as it is ideal for self driven cars I have driven automatic transmission cars for last 25 years abroad  and slowly they are becoming popular in India as they are becoming affordable

      Honda City and Hyundai Verna have introduced automatic transmission If Maruti needs to fight them in India they better introduce automatic transmission

      Two months over after i got my SX4 Vxi. It's been a joy ride till now. This machine matched my expectations. My usage is minimum , till now i clocked just 1800 KM's.

      First the things i like: 
      • Power.  (I usually surprise other aggressive drivers with her ample acceleration. Once i overtake i will disappear from their line of sight. GONE......!)
      • Space (great space inside and in boot)
      • Looks (no comments)
      • Mileage (Surprised?  coz i gets 12 in normal conditions and 14 in long distance travels. With AC on 100%. This is good for such a big car)
      The things i dislike:
      • A piller, causes problem sometimes
      • Horn very feeble horn
      • Reverse gear tight
      Good style, PowerA piller

      It is nearly two years since I have owned it and am still in awe of this beauty. The main reasons: -

      • Have consistently got 12+ kmpl in city
      • Very safe car to drive especially with my two year old son.
      • Very spacious from inside. other passengers always feel exteremly comfortable. Even the third passenger does not crib, no matter how bad it looks in the begining.
      • I learnt driving on this car and it gives me so much confidence beacuse of its drivablity, and manouvering in the city.
      • Excelent performance even at low rpms

      So after all this I find it to be the most suitable car for a family as well as for an executive like me who drives on his own to office. Even while commuting for Gurgaon to Noida, I prefer taking my own car as I do not feel any lethargy even after driving for two hours or more in bumper to bumper traffic.

      On highways I have touched 150+ without any significant effort. I did not feel as if I was really pushing the engine with the rpm reading howevering around 3500 to 4000 mark. I got 16.5 kmpl even though there was fair bit of city traffic invovled. The control was excellent and atleast one occasion i realy felt thankful to the ABS when a rouge biker suddenly jumped the devider and came right in front of me from the other side. An icon behind me almost lost control and barely managed not to hit me even though it was quite far off behind me when I applied my brakes. Had he been in front of me, the biker would have had his last ride then.

      So all in all an excellent car which is very comfortable, reliable, safe and gives a decent fuel economy. Till date no issues with manufacturing or servicing either.

      Good fuel economy, Good style, Good Comfort, Safest car in the segmentinteriors can be better

      Exterior.The looks are superb,better than any car.It looks heavy,robust and sophisticated.It looks like a big car

       

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort).Adequate features,space.The boot space has been eaten away by the CNG cylinder(but if required carrier could be used...). The seats are comfortable during city &highway driving

       

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox.Good engine pick up.Will test your guts.....Economy on CNG is too good(20 Kpl in city and 24 Kpl on highway with AC on !!!!!! Gearbox is smooth and comfortable except when you are trying for first gear at 20 Km/hr speed.Upto 80Km/hr speed, CNG or Petrol mode doesn't make a difference.Beyond 80 in CNG is pushing the car.....but then when you shift to petrol then sky is the limit.Upto 100 its too smooth.Switchingfrom Petrol to CNG is on tempreture sensing and automatic.When CNG is exhausted then you've to switch to Petrol by pressing the switch.

       

      Ride Quality & Handling.Excellent riding quality.Handling is smooth upto 80 Km/hr.Beyond that you have to be serious, coz its not a toy but a beast you should know to handle.

       

      Final Words.If looks,style,power and space you are looking for then this is the right choice.

       

      Areas of improvement  Fuel efficiency in petrol if improved upto 13.5/16.5 Kpl it will take other sedans hands down. Others will find a real problemto survive in the market.Other place is the boot space if improved by another 25% it will increase its sales of the CNG model as its efficiency is real good.

       

       

      Design,robust looks,fuel economy on CNG(upto 24KMs on highway) and (20 Kms in city) with AC onLess fuel economy on Petrol,problem during reversing,interiors could be improved.

      Exterior Stylish exterior. It can be made even better with signal lights on the mirrors and with steel or chrome finishing at the bumpers on both rear and front.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Poor interior for the money we paid. But the comfort is the best than any other car in this class, especially front seat passengers will feel great and also at the back seats three people can sit comfortabally while taking a long journey.

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Ok performance & smooth engine. The milage is around 17-18kmpl (including both city and highway) which is good economy. You can feel the vibration of the vehicle even on smooth road and while changing the gears due to engine. It has the heavy engine which puts pressure on front shocks on the rough roads, but ABS helps you in handling it.

      Ride Quality & Handling If you are riding then you feel superb. ABS & EPS helps in handling car in any speed. When you start moving the car initially u wont feel smooth but once the turbo swicthes on u can see its real power and smoothness. Alloy wheel with the best wheel base make you to feel like sailing.

      Final Words A good car, but not the best.

      Areas of improvement Interiors, low price, better mileage(20kmpl) and bootom end power can be improved.

      1. Nice road grip, 2. Good Ground clearnce, 3. Best for long journies, 4. Average mileage-17kmpl)1.Body vibration, 2.Poor rear view, 3.Average interiors, 5.Poor mouldings or finishing.
