Friends, I must say this vehicle is such a pathetic quality in my short experience, which is as short as 5-6days doing just 279kms. I had a narrow escape from a head on collision with a tanker truck while overtaking a vehicle. All of us have a calculation while overtaking. This vehicle suddenly stopped releasing its engine power during the overtake and I was stuck half way through and almost got hit.
I found the check engine on and opened the engine room to have a look. I found the turbo hose broken. Next step was to reach the people who sold me this vehicle. None of them were available probably being a weekend sunday. Next step was to look for roadside assistance and I could not find any such numbers stuck to the vehicle. I tried most of the numbers in the service network booklet and could not reach anyone for help. Finally I found the toll free number at the last page of the booklet which can be reached only from a BSNL line. WOW. what a support. Upon getting through I said I am in an emergency situation and needs immediate support. Since I could not hear the voice properly, I conveyed my mobile number and waited for a call return as promised by the agent. I waited for more than 15mins and decided to take another car and continue my journey.
After I reached back, Nexa team visited my home to inspect the damage and suggested replacing the damaged hose, without giving any valid reason for the damage caused. I was told verbally by one of the senior that it may be a rodent attack;). The vehicle didn't have a PDI OK sticker on it and I questioned the matter as I had already written the warranty clause in the Owner's manual.
7th clause - Owner's Warranty Responsibilities:
It is responsibility of each owner to:
Make certain that the PDI card was completed at the time of delivery of the vehicle;
The best part is this manual is delivered to an owner while delivering the vehicle.:) so I need not say how far we can ensure the Owner's warranty responsibilities. Please read the booklet if you get a chance.
While I pointed all these matters, they never had any convincing answers for most of my concerns. They simply wanted to take the vehicle away and replace the damaged part and return the car to me.
As the damage has happened to a turbo hose. The damage will have effect on other parts of the engine with dirt entering the air channel & also damaging the sensors in that area with impact damage and abrasion to the engine, which will start to reduce the efficiency of the turbo. Why would I be suffering such a damage at the 279th kilometer of a new vehicle. I demanded a decent compensation as they refused to accept the return of the damaged car or give me a new car.
I have informed them that I will be left with no option other than moving legal to protect my interests, to which they are least bothered.
Still it is better for them not to accept the following facts and continue selling the car as much as possible by reducing price as frequently as possible. Please notice the price drop from launch time and do not blindly trust the quality of Nexa series from maruti, as I found the rubber, electrical and other non metal molded parts are all substandard, which will have serious damages causing to the engine and other systems sooner. A search for S Cross reviews revealed the severe sensor issues which is making the vehicle malfunction in many ways. I suspect this turbo hose damage could be due to the faulty sensors.
My sincere advice to S Cross Buyers is to open the engine room and check on the above mentioned parts and its quality. You will find the S Cross Bonnet cover so low in weight compare to a Ford Eco Sport. Check the body toughness and compare with other cars in the same class such as duster, eco sport, Etios cross etc. Front Air Bags are statutory and mandatory according to the RTA in india. Dealers project it as a feature offered from their big heart.
I must say. Just don't buy this car for its good reasons considering the hidden cheating elements in it and the attitude of the company.
I regret changing my decision not to go for Creta, who offered INR. 100000 more for my old car. I opted for S Cross because they were willing to deliver immediate, which has bombed my expectations.

Exterior Bold face, well crafted rear , and posh side view. Though this car is not junky or over styledlike XUV 500 or Creta. It has its own classy look and looks are majorly personal taste. I feel over looks compared to creta. S cross losses by big margin.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) This is the trump card for S cross.
Seats:- are the best i have seen... very comfortable and confident boosting seats while driving
Instrument cluster: is good but it will not excite one..... on the bad side, the adjuster for multi function display is bit tricky...
Dashboard: Good quality plastics were used and a carbon fiber imitation is used in some parts which the the best...
Passenger seat: Seat is very comfy.. and point to be mentioned... beneath the dashboard, where the passenger put their feet.. in most cars its left open.. but in s cross foam is used to close that open area and when ever one streatch their leg and touch the foam.. one get premium feel...
rear seat: its the best place to be in this car... good leg room and tigh support... 60:40 split.. which are foldable using good locks.. not old fashioned pull ups or ropes to pull...
Boot: decent boot space and full spare wheel with mould to hold the jack kit... another truimp card is in the boot and I liked it the most....boot and boot lip are at the same height, which allow easy loading and removing luggage and also two can sit there comfortable and hang out near a lake or for refreshing...
Parcel tray: its 50: 50 foldable tray.. so accessiblity increases with boot...
Boot board: the board used to seperate spare wheel with boot is very well designed.. one can pull up and that board will hold its place by itself ,, so we can access spare wheel with both hands.. compared to other cars one has to hold the borad and pull the spare simultaniously...
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Performance is good, economy is good, grear box is good.
Ride Quality & Handling
Ride quality:-One get that SUV feel driving this.
The height of the car is not more.. so centre of gravity is low and due to that S cross has planted ride compared to creta
Suspension: Best in the class. I Loved the suspension and the way it ride.
S cross is a great performance vehicle.
Tyres: J.K Tyres. what do we expect from this company. no wonders. Tyres spoil all the mood of car, while breaking even moderately Squeeling sound from tyres can be heard. Maruthi Need to change these tyres.
Brakeing: Good breaking. all four wheels disc breakes.. but tyres spoil every thing..
Final Words On 24-12-15 I took delivery os this vehicle. I am loving this machine.. Due to December offers I paid 9.6 on road Vishakapatnam and I spent 40 K for alloys, reverse cam and sensors, touch screen with Navi, fog lamps and other accessories.. So I paid total of 10 lakh for complete pack.. I got ABS, dual Air Bags, Touch screen with Navi, and all the necessaries... when compared to Creta to get dual Air Bags and ABS one has to pay 14 Lakhs on road.. and I dont find any logic for paying additional 4 lakhs for just looks.... If is want I can use that 4 lakh to purchase a KWID for my wife and compared to Duster... Duster may be a Tall boy who can do bit of off roading.. its no where near S cross when compared to Interior quality and comfort and Even in Duster and Terreno to get ABS and Dual Airbags one has to pay premium ....
So, My Verdict is, S cross is a great machine. out perform many of its rivals when compared to Interior quality, On road performance, Resale, maintenance, service centres and for getting these many positives, a bit of looks may be compromised.

2. Nexa service and its staff should be trained more to give that premium customer service... There service is very below the standards of regular Maruthi.

Exterior The Exterior is not great when compared to Hyundai Creta. Looks more ike SX 4 in front but the rear is nice.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) You get a good feel inside with spacious rear leg room, good view for the Driver seat though there is no adjustment facility for lower end models, good knee support,good storage facilities though boot space could be better.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The Sigma model 1.3 has the proven diesel engine and good drivability especially in a city like Mumbai. average at 15 Kms in city driving conditions is very good. Gear box is sleek. steering feel is good, and the initial drag of the diesel engine is seen as compared to petrol ones though it does not hamper much. Highway driving is also decent though not great and the JK tyres are not giving the quality of drive that otherwise the car might provide. Change tyres if you can at the earliest if you drive highways frequently. ABS , Dis breaks and airbags being standard equipments are handy and give you a sense of confidence while driving at 3 digit speeds.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is good assisted by good suspension and disc brakes though at low speeds the stiffnes of the same throw you up from the seats. Head lamps are not great during night times and if you are frequent highway driver better change the headlamps with more powerful lights. I wish Maruti provide the project lamp in all the models. It is no t available as an accessory also. I am yet to take a for a long drive but the feel of the car has been good.
Final Words Maruti has reduced the priice by about Rs60000 on all 1.3 models and by 2 lakhs on all 1.6 models. Those who bought the cars earlier have been taken for a ride and Maruti should provide free upgrades by way of accessories to compensate. S cross is a good breed for the present price offer and you get a feel of a big sedan while sitting inside.
Areas of improvement Headlamps, Tyres, boot space and Nexa service. The Nexa staff are inexperienced lot and one sees total commotion in the showroom and though they try to be pleasant, they seem to lack the expert salesmanship that one normally encounters in such places.
