Mahindra has done it again, They have proved that they are 4 step ahead of all competitors. For all those who desire an SUV in the price range of 10 to 20 lacs, I suggest forget everything and stick to XUV 500. I owned a scorpio earlier and I got my XUV.The features that I liked and which is not available in most of the high end 20 – 25 lacs cars:
Cornering Headlamps As soon as you steer left or right the LED lamps glow in that direction and illuminate that corner. Helps a lot while driving and is a nice concept. Other than this the head lamps are very strong and give a very nice illumination and the LED lamps add to the macho look.
ABS, ESP, Traction control, all 4 disk breaks, curtain air bags, follow me home lamps, follow me to car lamps, ambience illumination etc. All these features are not available in most of the cars. Pajero sport which costs 25 lacs does not have traction control. Innova with same pricing has only 20-30 % features compared to XUV. MACHO looks. The car really looks stunning. Bound to turn heads. 6 gears. A very nice pick up. Engine pickup is better than scorpio.
A very nice infotainment panel. GPS with voice control adds to the pleasure of driving. Just follow the voice and reach your destination. Connect your phone by Bluetooth and talk hands free, Tiretronics, reverse parking assist, auto wiper, auto head light etc. All are nice features.
Nice interiors. Most of the reviews here say that interiors are cheap. I completely disagree with them. I found the interiors to be very nice. Seats are comfortable and panel looks nice.
Got highway mileage of 14.2 kpl for first 300km. Its really decent. Mileage is better than scorpio till now. Voice recognition, Cruise control, Steering answer of phone, nice music system. Micro hybrid engine turns off automatically when held in traffic. This reduces fuel consumption. Leg room is ample in middle layer. Cool box can be used to keep chilled cold drinks, chocolates etc.
Disadvantages: Last row has very less legroom and is uncomfortable. They could reduce some leg room from middle layer and increase the third row space to make it more comfy.
Suspension is poor compared to innova. When on bad roads, Each and every pot hole and road vibration can be felt in your tummy. Jerks can be felt.
Overall I would say this is the best car on Indian roads as on date. Those thinking of buying an SUV forget all and buy XUV500 even if you have to wait for 6 months. It’s a woth buy and complete Paisa wasool.
