      Scorpion is THE BEST Indian car with its incredible mHauk engine, but cant advice driving- speed beyond 120 kmph even with anti brake-locking system security tag. the "immobilizer" is a failure and Scorpions even with immobilizers are getting stolen in metros. only 7 seaters with captain seats and all rows front facing is advicable, coz 8 seater is a bit congested. Scorpion definitely needs some more developments like better front seat arm rests, leg rest beside clutch (as in xylo), back adjustments in seat for long travellers and other technicalities regarding electronic display.

      The car bridges the gap between style and adventure, luxury and ruggedness, and performance and economy. It has strong engine along with good looks and sophisticated interior design. Mahindra Scorpio is fitted with SZ 2600 plus DI diesel engine that gives 109 bhp of power with a great torque of 26 kgm. The 0-60 speed could be reached within 9 seconds.

      The petrol version of the vehicle has 116 bhp engines from Renault that reaches 0-60 in just under 8 seconds. Mahindra Scorpio is slotted in the pick-up segment or the lifestyle SUV segment and Mahindra knows this segment is at nascent stage in India, it wants to be the leader in this niche segment.

      I bought  Scorpio Turbo 2.6 DX in 2003 and changed only tyres, battery, break shoes and oils no probs. it is a great SUV to drive in city. completed 100000 KMS and still going great. Please buy this without thinking much but must check breaks regularly. Well, I test drove  Safari   and Scorpio , the only one that won my heart and mind was Scorpio. Itz got the power in itz hood. I can't comment on the fuel efficiency  for me to pin the facts, but it is value for money is what i can say. Either City or Offroad, u will make your way or I should say you others will make way for you...Compared to competitors like Innova, Xilo and Safari, scorpio has much better road presence and durability. Scorpio is much more reliable on rough roads. Safety wise, Mighty Muscular Scorpio is great improvement because now it has ABS in middle category as well.

      Exterior The exteriors are well designed and give it a bold and huge look, though a slightly lesser hight would have made the ride quality more comforting.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The interiors are well appointed, but a large number of cubby holes and bottle holders are places where the dust and dirt tends to accumulate and is  pain to remove. The quality of plastics is average but built to last.

      The first row is the best to enjoy the ride, the middle row is ok, however the last row is meant only for children. The AC is not very effective for the 3rd row passengers.

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The engine responds beautifully and gives a decent power to weight ratio. The fuel economy is 10+ which is good considering the size of the vehicle. The gears are stiff and it takes some time to adjust to the odd position of the shift.

      Ride Quality & Handling The ride quality is good, but care has to be taken on high speeds specially on turns.

      Final Words An excellent value for money, low maintenece and can be taken where other cars cannot dare to venture.

      Areas of improvement

      1. Space in the 3rd row needs drastic improvement.

      2. The gear shift need a lot of improvement.

      3. The plastics need an upgrade.

      Exterior Very nice looking catchy to eye when it passes thorugh crowd. As it is advertised it is muscular mighty definitely.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Nicely placed Seats for sitting and the leg room in the rear seat may be littile cramped, but it's ok. In comfort vise it deserves all. THe added features in the high end model makes to feel as a luxary SUV.

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox It works well in ofroad and in good terrain. no noise nothing , very smooth performance.The pick up is good and it takes no time to get the required speed while over taking.

      Ride Quality & Handling Very nice and feel very safe and secured n side the vehicle.

      Final Words The M & M definitely look in to the audio system. It may be hardly about few thousands extra for good quality system if it is done, may be this may not be a burdon for M & M.

      Areas of improvement THe one and only audio system.

      Exterior

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) In the a/c ,there are no a/c vents at the 3rd row,it makes me so sad that all the passenges at the back the said what a A/C is this.

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The pulling power is good in hills,but the fuel efficency is bad it is giving me only 9km/l.

      Ride Quality & Handling Riding quality is bad that the suspentions are very weak.Always the gear and steering will wobble.

      Final Words REACENTLY now my vehicle got accident in right side body till the drivers door because of a two wheeler,SPLENDER+ damage my car .So,that damage of body I went to the Mahindra dealer they said that the chasis had got bend.I said that because of a two wheeler the chasse will benda.this is the worst vehicle in my life that i have changed the full chasse and the right side front wheel disk.

      Areas of improvement But it has a good ground clearence in dameged road.

      Good style.Very,very poor fuel economy,it only looks like a big car but its chasse are all very less weight.

      Exterior Excellent looks and one can loook down upon other cars and SUV/MUVs.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Spacious and well thought of storage.

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The beauty is the mHawk CRDe engine. Can be compared to any petrol engine in terms of power, pick-up and silence. Very responsive with lot of pep even in the overdrive gear.

      Ride Quality & Handling Comfortable ride even for the rear passengers as there is plenty of leg room for them. I am used to driving with the driver's seat pulled fairly back and still there is plenty of leg room for the middle row.

      Final Words Value for money if used rightly. Will last a long time.

      Areas of improvement The horn button is too hard. As the horn has to be used in emergencies, one has to use one hand for it. The button should be such that slight tough should sound the horn. And the glove box lid has to shut with lot of force. Can be made a little easier to shut.

      Good fuel economy, style and presence on the road.Could have given lore features on electronic panel, ie, average, distance to diesel etc.

       Looks are at once discretion, & is a individuals perseption hence no comments on this front.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

       Features: Absolutely nothing. LX is a cheapest version & has nothing in it which you can call a feature. in thst sense @ same price Safari has lot more of features which come really handy.

      Interirors is very dull, itsnot beige, from inside when i brought this my friends commented saying it looks like a taxi from inside, felt very bad :(

      space, ya this is a only reason i brought this car, since i needed an SUV with 9 seater.

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

       Till now (RAN 4000kM ) has no issues , this is a only good part

      Ride Quality & Handling

       Stearing is dead, no response at all. But works some how...

      Final Words

      I felt I should have gone for the Safari LX, regretting for buying This metal box on 4 wheels, so called scoprio has bitten me badly :(

       Interiors & features at least need to match that of Safari. Which is a notch up.

      Exterior Exterior is rough and sturdy and have a macho look,this is where the scorpio takes away MAXIMUM marks,the chequered flag design on the bonnet and the body adds to its beauty,the bonnet scoop also makes scorpio mighty and muscular,but the beading and GUM used for the front windshield is of low quality and it often troubles you,the PAINT quality is pretty decent and the roof antenna is also of poor quality.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The Dash board is not very impressive,and the plastics used for them are of cheap quality,the GLOVE BOX only works for some months and all the other time it will be open,this is also because of cheap materials used,compared to TATA Safari the glove box is a waste,the power window switches in LX model comes between the driver and passanger for all 4 windows and thats too irritating,there is lots of space but you cant keep a bottle in a safe place, its like a playground,no organisation of space, the front seats are comfortable for a long drive otherwise the middle row you will be rolling your body all over,its good not to say about the back BABY seats. They are HORRIBLE. You cant sit for 50 Kms in the back seats.

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Here the scorpio scores more,the engine performance is good,pretty good,gear box and gear shifting is decent but its not like a feeling of CAR..its OK for an SUV,sound and vibration of the engine is not there,Fuel economy is 10 to 11,but the bad thing is its got HIGH TORQUE which results in difficulty to drive in city,you must be pressing the clutch always otherwise it will be moving,The A.C is pretty good and has a good cooling efficiency in sharp summers,the only problem is of clutch which becomes hard after 40000 kms.

      Ride Quality & Handling This is HORRIBLE,though the Scorpio runs like a beast you are not sure when the vehicle will ROLL,the performance of the Engine ROCKS but the Body ROLLS,it is uncontrollable in loose soil,must drive carefully or else there will be ROLL.

      Final Words Good vehicle for a responsible driver. Not for others.

      Areas of improvement ROLL ROLL ROLL.

      Mahindra Scorpio has the best looks any other economic SUV in INDIA,it ROCKSPoor interior design,very cheap plastics used for dash and interiors,BODY ROLL...........

      Ibought it in 2003 10 years still LION on road.Over the years, Mahindra has kept improving scorpio with every new variant and the 2009 mighty muscular is by far the best. There are lot of new additions like new engine which is more powerful, ABS, 2DIN Audio system, better suspension, etc etc.

      The earlier 2.6 crde engine has been discontinued and has been replaced by 2.2 mHawk. It is much better and quieter than  the earlier one. The seats are very comfortable and body hugging. The 2 DIN stereo looks nice and makes the dashboard look even more plush. All together, the interiors are very upscale. Though Mahindra can very well afford to improve the quality of plastics.

      I was given the option of VLX, SLE and LX. All are with mHawk engine. I chose SLE with ABS. Features like rain sensors, auto headlamps are not available in SLE but I can do without them.

      Pricing of scorpio is its strongest point. it is very competitive. The LX is 7.2 lakhs and SLE is 8.2 lakhs. It is comparable to c-segment categories like SX4, Honda City and Hyundai Verna. This will make sedan buyers also consider this value for money SUV.

      Compared to competitors like Innova and Safari, scorpio has much better road presence and durability. Scorpio is much more reliable on rough roads. Safety wise, Mighty Muscular Scorpio is great improvement because now it has ABS in middle category as well.

      Scorpio has seen 10 years of back to back success and has a lot in it to continue for a long time.
