Ive owned a Bolero Sportz since May 2005.
Great value for money. Looks tough and aggressive. Go anywhere capability. Diesel Driven which means you dont need to think twice before taking an out of town trip.
I love this jeep. I ve enjoyed many outstation drives, hill drives and tend to use it a lot within the city too, because of the sheer feeling of safety within and for the storage space it has.
I ve seen the newer variants of the Bolero and appreciate some of the things theyve added - the new ones have a shorter gear shift making it more sporty and a few more changes, largely cosmetic.
One change made in the front bumper is very good. When you drive in wet conditions, the special bumper front overhang will prevent water splashing onto the bonnet and wind screen, unlike in the earlier versions!
But the new engine DI Turbo sounds like a lorry. Ive got the XDP engine and it is so much smoother.
I have some suggestions for improvement:
1. Give the Bolero the 2.6 Turbo Crde engine and increase its capabilities , efficiency and performance in terms of BHP,Torque, Fuel efficiency, noise reduction and power!
2. Wish they would make the rear passenger seat foldable 60:40 or even completely foldable in one single piece. One can gain so much more space.
3. Give an AC / Heater as standard in all variants.
4. Pump up the Brakes/ Braking capabilities with better technology to handle the increased Power.
5. Why not change the tyre size to 235/70/R15? This way one gets the wider footprint but not the taller stance, which may impair road holding.
6. Give rear seat headrests and a pair of decent foglamps as standard fitment in all variants.
7. And PLEASE change the cheap sounding, dying goat noise original horn!!! The first thing I did after buying it was to change the original horn to a regular BOSCH Horn.
Frankly if the above changes can be made and charged a reasonable amount for and the Bolero re introduced with the same radiator/ front end as it used to have in the 2005 model, I would choose it ANY DAY OVER A SCORPIO!!
The only real issue I have had with this Jeep was that recently after doing 22000 odd km, the Propeller Shaft assembly started making some little metallic noise while shifting gears, because according to the service centre, some play had developed in the three joints.
I decided to change the entire assembly to keep the car in top condition.
However, this should not happen in a carefully maintained vehicle and after only 22000 odd km run!
But all in all I am one highly satisfied customer.
It is a lovely vehicle.

I crossed 1lakh kilometer, so i think its worth for me to add comment on Bolero slx in my village English ;-)
Exterior Exterior is good while comparing with this segment of SUVs, but there is rust formation in place were rubber beeding closly attached. In doors and panet. Bolero stand on engine sound, we love it and continue it.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) We cant expect more from here for interior look. But 5stars for comfort and 3 stars for space. The reason for 3 srars for space is ==> not so good while comparing with other SUVs. Onle 5 heads can sit comfortly (we can do this in normal 5 seaters cars).
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Not much difference between normal engine and Di Turbo engine, the result is same. we cannot cross 120 km/hr always the heviest engine screms. Speed 100 is effective and speed 80 is good to get better milege. I get 15.75km/ltr in long drive and 17km/ltr in local [its vice versa for me]. Shifting gears is bit hard, it will be easy if u r technical driver.
Ride Quality & Handling Lack in smoothness. Anything under control if we drive below 100km/hr. This SUV got more stability than Scorpio in cutting the edges while overtake in top speed of 120km/hr. Stability differs when more head counts added. We can play if 4 heads on board and we love the drive with rocking songs and friends.
Final Words My title is my final words "Suitable for lower middle class"
Areas of improvement
- Need to improve strong built in quality
- Need to improve smoothness like xylo / scorpio in gear box and reduce vibration [need heavy engine sounds].
- A/C need to modify it totally.
- uneven brake pad (tilt) complaint in all Bolero crosses 90k + Kilometers.
- I have experince like tractor while applying clutch its really feels heavy when long drive.
- Hand brake is for the shake of feature but no use.

Engine behaves erratic while at slow speed and suddenly accelerates at 40kmph on 2nd or 3rd gear. Steering wobbles at the speed of 95 and above (wheel balancing is done 3 times but no change)
3. Steering Column rattles on uneven surfaces.
4. Driver seat rattles and makes noise on uneven surfaces.
5. Differential makes noise despite it has been repaired threetimes. My vehicle has been to the workshop at least 20 times since it was purchased 2 months back. I am appaled at the quality of manufacturing. Stepney door does not lock with remote locking.
7. Stereo must be changed its functions are unclear and hard to operate while driving.
8. Power steering pipe at the bottom of the vehicle needs to be bent to avoid connect on rough roads.
9. Noise from left front wheel. There was no speaker on the front left side.
I have been a mahindra customer since early sixties but this is my last purchase. Good bye Mahindra. I wish there was some other company manufacturing a jeep kind of thing. I would strongly urge companies to explore possibilities of manufactring better vehicles than sub standard mahindra's

It has been good family, off-road vehicle for me, also helping me in support role for agricultural ops, crossing 3-4 feet deep water of mighty rivers of punjab like Beas and Ravi.
Has never let me down anywhere, my children during their outings treat as amoving room and keep moving to and fro enjoying sitting at all seats.
And the best thing this vehicle has done to me is that my wife being a teacher, it was thgis vehicle helped me managing my young children so well, my young son slept in the middle seat when i went to drop my daughter to school.
the comfort it gave to my young kids has left an indelible mark in my heart.

I had purchased a new Bolero SLX Registration no: KL41 F XXXX about 6mths ago.
Unfortunately, your product has not performed well and also the service was inadequate. I really disappointed with the service, that I was done in the showroom cochin(maradu). I have so many problem with my new car and I would like to mention it.
(1) AC of my new BOLERO is working with high sound and water is coming from inside the regulator.
(2)accelerator Complaint(Timing not proper while using accelerator).
(3) Sensor complaint.
(4)The roof of the car is leaky and in every car wash and in heavy rain, water is getting inside the car,sometimes it almost reaches 1 feet.
(5)steering is damaged,due to their wrong service.
(6)The door is bulged outside and informed to change but yet this time, I haven't got any support from the service centre.they had done metal coating all over the roof of car to stop water leaking, but after two days,it is leaky again. I can’t spend my valuable time for your product. I'm going for legal action and the other things that i can doSo pls clarify this serious issue as soon as possible.
