Love-Hate Story

When I bought the car in the year 2015, the choice was narrowed down to an Xcent or the Honda Amaze. I was very keen on buying the Honda Jazz, but Honda kept delaying the India launch and one fine day, I got fed up of waiting. I was keen on evaluating the Honda Amaze, as I've read a lot about the high revving Honda engine and the thought of getting peak power output at high revs sounds really existing. So off I went for a test drive of the Amaze, where i realised that the engine didn't seem really sprightly. The steering too seemed heavy and the interiors were a total let down - to make matters worse the dealership was also high-nosed and had a very cold attitude. Meanwhile, I was never a fan of Hyundai due to my bias against Korean cars, however I decided to take a test drive of the Xcent nevertheless. And it was love at first drive - the dealer was very forthcoming, the interiors were fabulous, the price point was sweet, and just driving around in traffic was such a breeze with the low grunt engine - I was sold! Since that day to today, I've driven the Xcy through narrow congested city streets, out on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and even on multiple National Highways - my fears of Hyundai's vague steering, were completely dissolved as I am able to hold my lines at triple digit speeds, the ride is brilliant and there's virtually no bobbing at the rear over undulations, the power (thought least on paper), was formidable enough to execute fully loaded overtakes with fair amount of ease. It's been 03 years now and I've developed new found respect for Hyundai and tons of love for my Xcent.
