      Anil77 hi, well ! for such a tiny-car(smaller then spark)very poor mileage plus too expensive. also, so called 80PS at 6200+rpm ,which is impossible in normal used. to reach 6200+rpm t'meter may cross red-line which is bad. 80ps is just on paper. For Indian! Comfort , Mileage & Service is must. those who were eyeing at i10 must go for maruti swife,splash or xink-1.1lt. basically-actually,hyundai car=v.poor mileageLOOK,VPOOR Mileage,,LESS SPACE

      Hi All, 

      I have been using i10 -1.2 Sportz AT for the last  One Month. Could not resist posting my experience for the benefit of others 

      1 Comfort – Moderate. The front seats are very comfortable however; the rear seat is a little erect which means that on the long journeys, it may be a slight issue.  

      2 Ride Quality – Very compliant. The car does not jump around pot holes. The Shock absorbers and the tubeless tyres work. However, the rear do gets a little bouncy in rough terrain.    

      3 NVH –  Spring the engine to life and you will hear music to ears – The sound of the engine . However, the Insulation is very good. The road noise, the engine noise etc are extremely low.   

      4. Mileage – For Automatics., this is the GOLDEN Question. I have measured auto cut off to auto cut off twice. My car is delivering 11.5 to 12KMPL. I am sure a lot of people are going to question this as in most of the reviews, people have claimed from 6 to 13 KMPL. Let me tell you that there is an art in driving this car. You need to do a few things which will ensure you get good mileage. 1) – Shift to Neutral when you stop at the traffic signals. Do not keep it in the Drive Mode. 2) – with the Techo in place, learn the art of being light footed so that the gear changes every 2000 RPM i.e. do not be heavy footed. 3) – Keep your over drive in the “ON” mode. The car will shift to the over drive mode at 55+KMPH.  The over drive gear is very assuring. I can amble at 60 KMPH at about 1700 RPM. This gives me the confidence that I can do highway riving quite easily. Possible 100 KMPH at about 2500 RPM which is good.   

      Warning – Please do not use the “KICK DOWN” very often. This increases the fuel consumption exponentially. Kick down is when the driver suddenly presses the accelerator and the car sensing your urgency downshifts automatically to race ahead.   

      5. Gearing - silky smooth auto shifts. One will have to get used to of realizing when the gear shifted. This is the department one can’t complain about.    

      6. Features Music System – Acceptable. Good sound and it is IPOD compatible.

      Tilt Steering - Good to have not must to have. The MDPS is extremely light and precise thereby making the car even more easy to drive as softness of the steering is inversely proportional to the speed – i.e. – At high speeds it gives adequate feedback. 

      7. AC – Good and effective. However, I think the blower grill needs to be designed better. It is tough to get the air to your face.. at least I faced so. But the cabin cools pretty quickly. One not so good thing about the ac vent is that the vents can not be closed and the direction can be set in a pretty limited way.   

      8. Dashboard - wide and clutter free. The not so good news here is that the beige dash has a high reflection on the main glass of the car. The good news is that you get used to.  

      Review – Post 7500 KMs – (March 16th, 2010)-Highway Experience – I Just completed a 750 KM, highway trip to the hills. I thought it will be worthwhile to share this experience too. The car behaved very well on the highway. The road grip was fantastic. With torque available through the rev band, the car did not lose much speed even while negotiating the climbing of the hills. One can easily do consistent speed of 90 to 100 KMPH. The only flip side is that you need to better manage the overtaking as there is no manual gear to downshift for that extreme surge of power. Mileage – 17 KMPL on highwaywith 100% AC on even while climbing the hills.

      Main negative feature of the car, when you sit on the driving seat is restricted(hazzy) front view because of reflection of the dashboard colour. Though overall interior is very beautifull, dashboard colour should be gray. Which one can observe that rear traffic view  is more clear than front. 

      One cannot understood that why company hasn't provide rear dicky tray. Because it was not only provide us space but also reduces petrol consumtion by reducing volume of the car for cooling effect of A.C. That means it is a need of every A.C. car.

      Company should also provide clutch foot rest as in santro.

      Good interior.Front wind screen view badly restricted because of reflection of dashboard. Don't have footrest.Don'

      Hi Friends,

      This one website provided me the most useful information that I needed for purchasing my car. So I felt like reverting back.

      Last month I purchased an i10 Sportz. While surveying, I had shortlisted 2 cars in the same segment (my budget was 5L), Maruti Suzuki Ritz VXI and Hyundai i10 Sportz. Finally I decided in favour of i10 Sportz after test driving both. Ritz had a more powerful drive, but i10 had a more comfortable one. Ritz was more spacious, i10 was more luxurious. Ritz VXI needed accessories worth 25K, whereas, i10 Sportz came fully loaded. I just spent another 8K on fog lamps and on getting the grill, chrome finished. It gave the car an unbelievably beautiful look. There was a waiting time of around 1.5-2 months for Maruti Suzuki. i10 was delivered within a week.

      I will now summarize the advantages of i10 Sportz below, point wise.
      + The interiors are very good, at par with expensive luxury cars. I found interiors of Ritz very ordinary as compared to it. The elbow rest is almost missing in Ritz and from inside its still just above average
      + Fuel economy is reasonably good, will give at least 13KMPL in 'Bangalore' city conditions and after first service it may improve further (80% times I drive with the A/C on)
      + In terms of power, it is almost equal to Ritz
      + A/C is very effective. The company fitted music system not only gives a good look but it also gives a good performance (in terms of sound quality, etc)
      + This car is one of the most stylish ones on road today. You can experiment some additional modifications (like I did) and observe the difference
      + It has many comfort features that are not there in ANY car of its segment. For example, tilt steering, its classy dual tone beige interiors, rear wiper and defogger, adjustable boot space and so on
      + i10 has a noiseless, balanced and smooth drive. The cabin noise reduction is so good that these days I have started enjoying driving in traffic conditions

      This car was launched just 2 years back and is a huge success. There is very little chance for the discontinuation of this model, in the near future, ensuring a good resale price (remember Hyundai Santro has a very good resale price). Maruti Suzuki, on the other hand has a past record of discontinuing various models (Zen, Zen Estilo: model changed within 2 years of launch, Esteem, Baleno and so on).

      My final word is...in case you are planning to buy an i10...just go ahead and if are surveying...give it a 'serious' thought!

      This is for those who are looking for reasonable reviews to justify their decision for buying/going for an i-10 or for those who are in a dilemma to decide amongst many small cars that are available today in the Indian market.

       I bought an i-10 era 3 months back and have mileaged around 6000kms and looking at the performance of the car till date, I would proudly say that I am an satisfied soul. This is my first car and I had lots of confusion while choosing one. Definitley if u have 5l + budget then Swift should be an easy decision which is a leader in its class. But if ur budget is > 4L <4.5> then i-10 shd be ur undisputed choice.

      +ves - Amazing colours (i hv an electric red), sportiest look in its class and by the looks itself you can feel that this car is built for the racier drive. Tilt steering is not of much use as you will not bother with its position once set but might be useful if there are more than one person using the car frequently. The best feature that impressed me is the position of the gear shift lever and the smoothness of it. If Siddhu was here he would have said something like "as smooooth as Swiss cheese " !!! its really really really sooper smooth.

      I had recently gone for a GOA trip in my car.Partnering i-10 was a Wagon -R. Believe me it was such a pleasure to drive the i-10. While coming back we took the NH4 and I could do a top speed of 150kmph time and again and with the same sturdiness and stability as in 80kmph. The mileage we got was 14.5 with AC (min speed of 100kmph avg) and when driven economically (80kmph with AC) the result was 17km/litre. While returning from Goa to Mys (via Belgaum) we travelled 800kms on a single day with absolutely no problem whatsoever. Well little bit stress on the body though! Wagon R could not go beyond 135kmph and it started vibrating /shaking at this speed.

      Fuel economy was similar for both cars. I feel this economy is managable and that too when you have the added pleasure of owning a small car with finish and poshness of a big car; that is sturdy and stable at high speeds and that can handle turns so easily. Very truely this car has indeed re-defined the standards for the small cars in Indian market. If I had to describe this car in a single word it would be "suave" .

      Nothing is overstated here and I will be glad if this article can add weight to your decision of going for an i-10.

              I was looking for a suitable replacement for my good old Maruti-800. So I did some research on compact cars and I would like to share my reservations against buying the new model i-10. These are my personal views, and I don't intend to offend the owners of i-10.

             Sure, I love Shahruh Khan, but when it comes to making purchase decisions, I would like rely only on hard facts and figures. Buying any newly released car model is like wading into crocodile infested waters. Having access to detailed technical specifications would help people like me to decide unless, of course, Hyundai wants to hide unsavory facts. Their website contains precious little technical information. There is no mention of minimum turning radius, luggage capacity and gross weight, (only kerb weight given).

               Next, I decided to do some research on i-10 by reading the reviews. Most of the reviews did excellent job of highlighting the positive features while down playing the drawbacks. Still I could easily make out that i-10 is actually 100 kgs heavier than Santro Xing while being powered by a similar engine. This could mean that i-10 is underpowered and it may not have an effective AC in Delhi. Another fact that came to light, Hyundai is about to release i-20/ i-30 models with upgraded 1.3L engines. Where is the guarantee that Hyundai will continue to provide spares for i-10?

               After my research, I decided to check for myself by taking a test drive of i-10. The car looked fine from the front side. But I didn't like the barren, plain look from the rear side, just like the old Santro. Despite its new exterior i-10 still closely resembles its older sister Santro from a distance. I love the looks of Santro Xing and its attractive pricing. The turning radius of i-10 appeared to be some what large, which could pose problems while parking in tight spots. Further, my wife complained about the narrow leg-space in rear when compared to our M-800.

               I-10 is a new kid on Indian roads. What do we really know about its performance beyond 10,000kms? Nothing much. In the absence of long-term performance feed-back, awards like COTY 2008 doesn't inspire much confidence. Better wait till the picture becomes clearer.

               Finally, I decided not to buy i-10 or for that matter Wagon-R (The Mortuary Van), Zen Estillo (The Bread-Box on Wheels). I wouldn't like to be seen driving or even dead inside these cars. I recommend Santro Xing to those looking for a proven compact car. I decided to go and search for a mid segment hatchback.

              In summary i-10 has new looks, good interiors, good front appearance, plenty of good features but short on leg-space and not good to look from the rear. Bye until next time.

      I willl highly recommend the Hyundai i 10 kappa sportz model to u all... Its just AMAZING. its been more than 5 months and i m just loving it more each passing day. u can just feel the road and the tyres by just griping the EPS power steering. i totally disagree with persons who say its just another santro... it gives me a mileage of 16 in city and 19 in the highway. those who complain about mileage are just WORST DRIVERS. i wud like to share a personal experience i had at a TATA showroom. i went there to test drive a Indica Vista. i drove it and told the chief engineer dat its of NO comparision to i 10 kappa. he disagreed. i offered him my i 10 kappa sportz for a test drive. he drove and i was co-driver. he drove for around 2 kms and smiled back at me and told me " sir, to be very frank TATA is no where compared to this beautiful engine and the technology. i take my words bk. " that was the best comliment i got since it came from a chief engineer of TATA . now a days its difficult to find this type of comliments. THANKS HYUNDAI i 10 kappa sportz................ BIB Amazingly comfortable, v good fuel economy, smooth ride, v good electronic power steering, cute bodyNOTHING much except not so wide tyres.........................................

      Looks are deceptive, its not as good as it seems. I drove this car and santro. Both are not comfortable to drive. And to be true its accleration of both the cars is worst in its class.Initial pick up is good but when you push harder it just screams more and moves less. Its very scary too when you drive at high speeds and its fuel economy(Santro) is worst of all. Don't know about i10, but i think its gonna be much worse. Power steering is good so is the brakes.Good car if you drive slowly on CNG but if you like it rough then this is not the car to buy. And its gear box not as poor as WagonR  but is very poor indeed. Interiors are stolen from Honda city which looks good but is too large for a small car and eats up a lots of space. Its looks good when you sit in , but when you use it everyday gradually you feel the need to rip off the dashboard. And last not the least its very ugly to look at, even santro looks better than this. They could have removed santro's dashboard and fit i10's. Thats it. Its like buying this car to sell it off as soon as possible and get a new one ( not this one again ).Good Interiors, Excellent brand ambassadorAcceleration, Price, Ugly Exteriors,Fuel Economy is poor, space, poor drive, Needs a lot Maintenance

      I had booked Santro before, but when I test drove I10, I felt the difference right from sitting into the car to driving it. Unlike santro, it didnt have any engine vibration in the gear stick. Beige interiors gives a luxury car feel. I have been told that its mileage will be 15+kmpl with A/C. Waiting for Hyundai to deliver my car. I have purchased Champagne Gold color Era.

      It has got Tilt steering, front power windows, internally adjustuble rearview side mirrors with A/C & Heater. Very smooth engine and easy to handle.

      Interiors are really eye catching.Price.

      Exterior I chose the Magna IRDE2. The exteriors are excellent.

       

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The interiors are simply superb. We'll feel as if we are sitting in the cockpit of an airbus.

       

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The engine performance is awesome. At speeds of 70 to 80 kmph, we can feel only the super cool air gushing out of the ac vent. The engine is silent and we can hear only the rotation of the tyres. Motor driven power gear is class of its own. You can feel only when you experience it. But the fuel economy is a disappointment. I get 9 km per litre of petrol in the city (chennai) and 15.50 km per litre on Highways. Our dealer (DSC Hyundai) says that after the I service I can get arount 13 to 14 Km per litre in city and 18 to 19 Km on highways. He says the performance of IRDE2 engine is similar to kappa2 engine.

      Ride Quality & Handling

       We can equate the ride quality and handling with that of the Honda city. To believe this, we have experience a drive in this vehicle. Simply superb. You'll want to keep on driving this vehicle. The shah rukh khan advt i.e., taking the route to mumbai instead of goa is apt. This advyt is simply not a goof up but is real feel for the persons who are behind the wheels of new genI10.

       

      Final Words I 10 is a technological marvel. I am an Maruti fan. But after driving this vehicle, I feel the Hyundai is far far ahead of maruti in all respects. Now I am vivid fan of Hyundai and I recommend this car to my collegues who are having maruti cars to opt for Hyundai

       

      Areas of improvement Not really required for this car at present. But the following features can be added to this car. (1) Electrically operated OVRM for IRDE2 Magna instead of manual operation (2) Defogger with rear wiper (3) Lamp for Boot area (4) Hyundai system.

      I'll check and report on the mileage after the I service.
