If you are about to purchase Hyundai car this Review will definitely help you a lot to make your final decision.
DON'T go ahead just by seeing Hyundai car's flashy exteriors and good internal features. These are not something which you will see on a long run.
I have been using Hyundai i20 for more than 3 years and drove around 50,000 Kms.
The worst thing about Hyundai cars is that they have only spent on flashy exteriors and interiors but don't have anything in their engine. This car provides one of the worst engines performance and milage as comapared to same segment cars from other brands like Maruti Suzuki, Ford and Volkwagen.
During purchase of my car, sales representative told me that this car will easily give you an average of 14 kmpl in city and 16 kmpl on highways. I was fine with these numbers. Even city average of 13kmpl and highway average of 15 kmpl was acceptable to me. But this car can't give me average of more than 11.5 in city run and 13.5 on highway run. Trust me on this, I drive very well (I have driven cars to Leh, Kaza and many other difficult terrains as well as one of the best roads in India like Yamuna Expressway), no one can get an average of more than 13.5 kmpl with this car. If you don’t believe me then ask sales representative to show you “KPL” test of the car in front of you. I am very sure, he will not entertain you much after this and will not take you on “KPL” test.
Trust me this average will make you feel betrayed till the time you will use this car and go for refuelling.
Recently I have launched a serious complaint to Hyundai customer support and found that Hyundai does not claim their car average (mileage) on their official website. Whereas other equivalent car brands like Maruti Suzuki (swift) and Volkswagen (polo) do claim the car average (see it yourself on the official websites under the performance tab and then by selecting the engine type i.e. petrol or diesel). After checking this, anyone can understand why Hyundai is not claiming any mileage for their engines on their official websites. And one more thing after your complaints, the customer support will surely call you and do some random checks or will provide you free service but again in the end this will never solve your purpose.

16 inch wheels look good on the car, matte black C-pillar and the front grill gives it it's European hatchback look, tail lamps suits the overall design of the car.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
Interiors are definitely best in class, dashboard feels premium. Feedback of buttons is good.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
1.2 petrol is good for city driving, short gear ratios help in slow moving traffic. On highway, easily reaches 120kmph in 5th gear at 3000-3200 RPM (Redline is at 6500). Fuel economy is decent (10-12 in city with AC, 15+ on highway with AC)
Ride Quality & Handling
Steering is light as compared to other cars in this segment, good for city, some people will not like it for lack of feedback. Suspension is right on point, large wheels contribute to better ride quality.

Would definitely recommend it to others. My rating: 8/10
Areas of improvement
- Hyundai should have atleast one variant with 6 airbags.
- Definitely needs fuel economy indicator/distance to empty meter.
- Auto-locking doors are definitely required.

Since everyone else has written about all the good stuff. I am here to highlight an issue that is literally painful to bear. I am getting a mileage of about 9.5 from my car.
Bought Elite-i20 Sportz petrol from Himgiri Hyundai Wazirpur. Trust me, buy this car only if you are fine with a strong car body and good looks, and only if Mileage is none of your conecrns. I have gotten the car serviced from service center but they are not able to fix this, so I assume that they are showing fake mileage numbers.
I have registered both Product complaint and servicing complaint from Hyundai india website for now (Though I didn't get any complaint number or anything for the same which is strange). Will update about how the complaint has been handled and whether the issue is resolved or now.
As for driving, my car is used for only office driving, and I sdriven by a professional driver (hired) who drives the car with elegance, so I cannot even doubt that the mileage is less because it is not being driven properly.

Exterior
The exterior styling of this machine is what lures one to it. A more matured, European design is what makes this car a class apart from its previous version. Even after two years of its induction, this design still makes heads turn in awe. The hexagonal grille, ORVM mounted led indicator lamps, a sporty C pillar and the sweeping headlamps are the highlights of this design. They could have included a DTRL like the European version of i20.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
Hyundai has always been ahead of its competitors when it comes to features and interiors. The reverse parking camera and sensors, automatic headlamps, automatic mirrors are all no nonsense utilities. The automatic climate control AC is pretty powerful with rear cooling vents. My car was also equipped with leather wrapped steering wheel and gear knob and a boot light, all of which were removed from this version by Hyundai later.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
The engine is an area where you would feel they could have improved, even after driving 10000 kilometres. The 1.2L engine is good, but they could have gone for a more powerful engine. Fuel economy is also just average for a hatchback at 13-14 kmpl. The gearbox is outstanding though, which helps you beat the city traffic with ease. Overall, you will be very satisfied with this car in the city, but when you take it to the highways, you might want more power if you are a driving enthusiast.
Ride Quality & Handling
Ride quality is just amazing and that have been true for most of the Hyundai cars in any segment. Handling is also pretty smooth. The suspensions are quite adequate even for the bumpy village roads. It is quite an easy to drive machine.
Final Words
I bought this car after almost six months of research in December 2014. To put it in a nutshell, I have never regretted owning this cute car with excellent styling, features and ride quality. It would have been better if the engine felt bit more powerful while highway driving.
Areas of improvement
Hyundai could have provided us with a 1.4L engine for this car. The infotainment system was a bit crude when I bought it, but the worked on that and later added it. They could have also provided a Distance to Empty info in the display.

Exterior - U know better
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) - Amazing . Best in class. U will love once u come inside ur car . Every part is of superiror quality . If u compare with Baleno or any other car in this segment , this car is far better in cabin quality . Verdict : U will be satisfied .
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox - Here comes the tricky part .
1st - Performance :
Cons :This car suffers from low end torque delivery . Simple words it doesn't pulls up quickly . If u r driving in hair pin bends on hills then u have to be in the 1st gear always , hardly any time 2nd , forget about third . In city traffic 2nd and 3rd mostly . This car is heavier and it feels when it is asked to pull up . It is annoying but u will be used to it .
Pros : This car on a highway when u go above 70 is a delight . Power comes in loads and you will be crusing ahead of all . I reached max at 140 , but didnt went ahead . but believe it can touch 160 being very stable .
Ride Quality & Handling : ride quality is very good at higher speeds and Handling is very good once ur used to it . It has a very light weigth steering which I believe is very easy to use and u will be precise at higher speeds once ur used to it . Overall very good .
This car is very very comfortable in its class . Compare it with Baleno and swift dzire . This is way ahead in comfort .
Mileage : This is very important . I'm a middle class person working in Software services (not a IT product base company) , So I do worry about money .😵 .
City : It gives 11 Kmpl to 12mpl in city depending on ur driving habbit . I get 11.5 generally . Sometimes 12 as well and sometimes 11 .
Highway : It gave exactly 16 Kmpl . No less than that . I drove over all 600 Kms in that trip , and I drove at higher speed as well above 110 . AC was on for 4/5 th of the trip .
Final Words : Comfortable , good to drive at higher speed , Ride quality , Handling . Great looks . Mileage , city 11.5 highway 16 . Better buy then Baleno , if ur not ok with mileage nos.
Areas of improvement : Low end torque . Pulling up capacity .

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Premium interior.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance is excellent. I am from Delhi, before first service I was getting the milage of 9km/l in city and 13 km/l on highway. After service mileage is improved now it's near 12 km/l in city and 16 km/l on highway.
Yes I face the issue in gearbox, Sometimes back gear stuck in middle. So need to hold the knob and release the clutch a bit and try again.
Ride Quality & Handling Excellent, Handling is smooth like new born baby.
Final Words Strongly recommended, If you are looking a fuel efficient car then i20 is not for you.
Before i20 I have driven Maruti Swift Vxi ABS. And I am very happy to have i20. Driving experience of i20 is much better then maruti although Maruti was very fuel efficient but the driving comfort and control of i20 is very much better then Maruti Swift.

This is the main area where i20 beats all other cars. When you prees aceelator hardly you will be pulled like you are in a fight and getting ready to take off :) Fuel also burn like anything .. dont expect above 12 kmpl when you press hardly. Smoooth gear shifting. you get comfirtable like 60-70 km even when you drive at 130k speed on highways..
Ride Quality & Handling
Suspension is just Okay .. not so brilliant but not bad.
Final Words
Go for it .. if you are trilled when speed goes beyond 120 ... And no issues for spending 100 bugs extra for extra comfirtability.
