Exterior: Classic Car for Indian Roads, will continue many many more years, Villagers Showed more Love for Amby then Optra, Toyota, Honda ext.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Comfortable seating on the front as well as back, lots of leg space so tall persons like me have No problem during driving by self or enjoying journey at back seat. Boot space is so much that a family of 4 can store 3 months of food.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine Highly vibrate above 100KM speed, Fuel consumption as per BS III, One full tank of fuel gives lots of relief while driving on highways.
Ride Quality & Handling- Breaking system needs improvement with ABS, Exhaust pipe shakes in high speed, needs twin silencer to reduce bad noise. Rough engine sound steals comfort ness while driving in high speed (above 100 KM).
Final Words - I came to India from UK to experience her beauty & heritage. I was told by my Grand Father Now (92yrs)- "If you want to really explore Indian heritage then I must have an Amby to complete my wish." Last 10 months I am visiting several places within India, one after another with my wife & son with a professional driver . This Sky Blue Amby with captains' cap is so reliable that not even a single time we have faced any type of vehicle related problem. I salute its reliability, all 3 after sales service was furnished outside New Delhi without any delay by other Amby dealers. Now we are so attached to this Car, my wife & kid is forcing me to take the car at UK. This car receives ample respect on the Indian roads, that might be because of its aristocratic outlook.
Areas of improvement Breaking System, Vibration, Noise control at high speed, Increase of wheel breadth will provide more stability on highways.

the interior is not as markable when compared to the morden era
The design is still lags a lot.Breaking is still struggling even though its having the disc,only the drum brk alone save u
***now the amby too having sunroof,p.steering,p.windows,a/c,.alloy wheels,disc breaks

Surely there will be some drawbacks in all cars.Amby also.But mainly for a car we need
comfort + fuel efficiency + low maintanence + low cost for spares + Safety.
All the things am having in Amby.The speed may be a contraint.Max speed it can touch 130km/hr(Matador Engine 305 with Isuzu gear box)That too we cant drive it for more than 5 min continously.Becoz temperature will rise.
I am owning it for 10yrs,I have rided many cars.The comfort is great when compared to other cars.
comfort + fuel efficiency + low maintanence + low cost for spares + Safety.No high speed.-->Need modifications at engine level

The biggest problem with this car is not its styling, or the interiors. The biggest issue contrary to popular belief is it's safety. The biggest misconception is that safety is in size. One argument can be that the safety at city speeds is adequate. However today when modern cars and suvs capable of driving at high speeds, and with a young rich kid behind the wheel, doing crazy speeds are getting common, this car is just not capable of handling the impact against these highly engineered vehicles with superior high strength steels and collapsible crush zones.
So Instead of focusing on the interiors and styling; which incidently is the main appeal of this vehicle, I suggest the following upgrades.
Modify rear suspension to one with coil springs and shocks. maybe a twist beam or a simplified multilink rear. This will improve cornering and stability.leaf springs are for trucks.
Upgrade brakes to disk on all wheels and maybe add ABS
Upgrade tires to get better traction and performance.
Beef up the green house structure by adding a smart roll cage.
Down the road more power can be added by making engine and exhaust modifications, for added torque to help pass other vehicles in deadly indian one lane highways.
These modifications can be achieved by a smart mechanic. I believe this vehicle will be a great seller. Safe, historic, comfortable and the ultimate identification with indian heritage; and will be cool to own.
This kind of kits are very common is US where similar cars from the 60's and 70's are hugely popular for their emotional appeal.
Let me know if there are mechanics who can do this.

Right from itz starting of production ambassador has lot of space, comfort.But during the sixties it lacked lot of features compared to that of modern versions.the main advantage iz very airy without need of air conditioned.

d ride is very superb quality compared o that of modern cars like Tata's & chevrolet which r poor to maintain &handling wize will be impossible but thanks to the power steering being provided.
Final Words
I feel Ambassador should continue to live as it iz the king of the indian roads & compared to other modern cars iz d best in quality,built ,performance,mileage&ride.even prime ministers consider to use thiz car bcoz of itz likes.No other cars can beat in d long run.

there iz no improvement in styling i feel manufacturer & producer should make some new styling,modification as per d changing needs of d consumerz in todayz era.

Exterior It has got a classical style, many Indians still appreciate it.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very cheap plastics, there are air vents,but without any fans inside it. There is enough space in it, the back seat is very comfortable,some people compares it with the comfort of a Benz itself. But the driver would be sweating behind the steering wheel in a car without the power assistance.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox To get the car to 60 km is a tiresome exercise for the driver.But one advantage I have found is that it is capable of carrying 6 or 7 passengers once the engine acquired the speed. My car has a Lucas TVS Diesel Pump which will need an overhaul every 25000 kms. To be honest, when we got the car for the first time there was no engine oil in the oil reservoir,(Can anyone believe it?) Before starting, we filled it with engine oil and managed to get it to the Marikkar Motors, Kottayam. They said there was a problem with the diesel pump and when it was repaired they charged Rs 100 from me. What surprises me is that they have now got the dealership for Skoda vehicles.
Ride Quality & Handling Not at all dependable at curves and high speeds.Since the vehicle always goes at below 80km, we can brake safely.It is not a driver's car at all. But it is a car for passengers who have no connection with it. I MEAN the driver suffers and the owner regrets it.
Final Words Hindustan Motors have been exploiting the Indians for decades and now a point has reached when none of its customers would trust in any of their future products. Unfortunately they have a massive no of customers across India.
Areas of improvement Everywhere. If the company had any sincerity or business sense they could have made it a living legend. Such is the damage they have made in the hearts of its customers.
Good fuel economyThe metal which is used for making this car seems to be recycled, hence the high rate of rusting.,
