Positives:

• The Basalt is properly spacious for five full-sized passengers and has a bigger boot than the Citroen C3 Aircross.

• The seats are comfortable, supportive, and accommodating, and finding the right driving position is easy due to the seat/steering adjustments.

• It has rear seats with three-step-adjustable thigh support, winged rear headrests, rear AC vents, and a 470-litre boot.

• The driver’s visibility is good due to the high seating position and the slim A-pillars.

• There is a 10.23-inch infotainment with wireless mirroring and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

• There are Citroen Connect features like remote engine start, remote door lock/unlock, and geo-fencing.
• It is equipped with a customisable seven-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15W wireless smartphone charger.

Negatives:

• The view out of the rear windscreen is narrow and the resolution of the reverse camera is poor.
• The sloping roof can restrict the rear headroom for six-foot passengers.
• It does not have features like a sunroof, keyless entry and start, seat ventilation, heads-up display, 360-degree camera, and a lock-unlock button.

Positives:

• It gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, hill-hold, three-point seatbelts and reminder (all seats), and rear parking sensors as standard kit across all variants.
• The Citroen Basalt can be had with tyre pressure monitoring, ISOFIX child anchorages, and a rear-view camera.
• Citroen has reinforced Basalt’s chassis structure to improve its crashworthiness and attain a five-star safety score from NCAP authorities.

Negatives:

• There are no ADAS functionalities and no safety ratings from the NCAP agency.

Positives:

• Although the Basalt is based on the Citroen C3 Aircross, it has a more distinctive design due to the coupe roofline and the smaller wheels.

• It has LED projector headlamps, 3D effect taillamps, 16-inch diamond-cut alloys, and high approach and departure angles.

• The monotone colours are Polar White, Steel Grey, Platinum Grey, Cosmo Blue, and Garnet Red; dual-tone ones include Polar White and Garnet Red, each with Perla Nera black roof.

Negatives:

• The Basalt looks a tad narrower than it should be, especially when viewed from the rear portion.
• The cabin quality and fit are inconsistent; although the glossy black plastic looks rich, the matte finishes look cheap.
