I took a test drive in the Tavera and I simply fell in love with it. I booked the car that same day!!! I bought the L2 model, with triple AC, Power steering and power windows.
Tavera has undoubtedly the best engine in its class. The turbo charged Isuzu engine is quiet and very powerful. My Chevy easily touches the 150 KM per hour mark on the Pune-Mumbai expressway. The car gives amazing pickup at the slightest touch on the accelerator.
Tavera has very good interiors. The cushions are good. The legroom in the second and third row is very very good. Even a six footer can sit very comfortably in the third row. The bucket seats offer great back support and are good for long drives. The wood finish on the instrument panel is also good. The electronic trip meter is very helpful and has class of its own.
My Tavera has TRAC (Triple row AC). The AC is fantastic. I have to increase the temperature, or my hands get ice cold!!! Even when I drive in the sweltering heat of Goa or Mumbai, the AC cools the full interior perfectly. The third row passengers are also well taken care of, with the third row AC blowers.
The car gives the best visibility any driver can ever hope for. The wind screen is large and the driving position is very good. Even if the driver is short, there won’t be any problem.
The Tavera is very easy to handle and the gears are very easy to change. The centre console provided in higher end models like mine, are very good and spacious. The power steering responds to the touch of a finger!!! The Tavera has a very small turning radius. So taking a U turn will not be problem even in the narrow streets. The steering wheel is very beautiful. My wife simply loves the leather covered steering, with a beautiful Chevy cross on it. The Tavera has amazing pickup and torque. It is possible to drive in the 3rd gear with a speed of 20Km/hr. This is specially useful in the city. It helps in fuel efficiency too! My Tavera’s gear shift is silky smooth.
My wife and I travelled to Goa and Kerala in our Tavera last year. We went to Goa from Pune. And from there, we went to Kerala. We also visited Vailankanni, a church near Chennai, on our car, with our family in Trivandrum.
I drove almost 6600 kms in a span of two weeks. After spending more time in my Tavera, than on my bed, I have begun to adore my Chevy. I drove to Goa from Pune, taking a break only at Kolhapur. The drive took me 10 hours, but I never felt any fatigue. We spent 5 days in Goa and travelled all over Goa in our car. The experience was simply wonderful.
From Goa, we drove straight to Kerala, through Mangalore. To tell you the truth, I drove continuously for 21 hours!!! We took short breaks only to have food. We left Goa by 6am on the 28th Aug and reached Trichur in Kerala, the next day at 4.30am. I could drive throughout, without any fatigue!!!
I got a mileage of around 16 on highway, with AC. I drove all the time at around 90 to 100km/hr. At some places I could drive only at 20 km/hr, as the roads we so bad. I have never felt more comfortable in any other vehicle!!!
I went with my family to Vailankanni. We were a group of 8. Everyone enjoyed the drive and the comfort of my car. Even with full capacity passengers and luggage, my car would zoom on highways at 120+ km/hr, without any lag. What a powerful vehicle!!!
After all these years of driving, I can say just one fact from my personal experience. No other vehicle in its class can beat a Tavera!

I sold by Zen' 2002 model & purchased Tavera somewhere Jan 2008. I purchased middle row as bucket (Captain) seats.
I truly enjoy driving this vehical on any road. This is slow (less pickup), safe & comfortable vehical for City as well as outstation / rough road driving.
I use this vehical in Pune city's crowded road & to best of my surprise I am enjoying driving in heavy crowd of 2 wheels, autorikshaws, PMT buses as they wait for me to cross. (normally this situation is not there in Pune for small car).
This a fuel efficiant Diesel vehical which is truly comfortable for long distance driving too.
I am truly enjoying this vehical in city area, as no pickup is required in city driving, due to height of the vehical problems of 2 & 3 wheels is not there, and most important very easy for parking due to power steering (unexpected !!!)
On the other hand I will recommend this vehical as safe family car for city area too, looking to these advantages.

The authorised service centr in Gurgaon (Apex Motors) is a horrendous place to be stuck with! I love my TAVERA and am perfectly satisfied with all its performance parameters. It certainly isn't the 'hottest' thing on the road, but Tavera is a fine workhorse for family rides. However I can say with absolute conviction, that if I had known about the shoddy worksmanship, questionable job-ethics, lack of accountability and total diregard to the concept of customer care; (not to mention their sheer 'customer-fleecing quotient') - shown consistently by the shop-crew and managerial staff at the sole 'authorised GM service centre' in Gurgaon, I would never have decided to go in for the Tavera (howsoever much had I wanted to!). Dealing with the constant excuses and inefficient work-culture at Apex has been nothiong short of a Nightmare for me!

I own a 2007 LS model Tavera.Till now it is not given any major problems and my driver also happy ,before he was driving a Qualis.we can drive this vehicle at any terrain even hills also.
Good
1) Good mileage. I am guarantee it will give minimum 14 in city and 18 in free ways.
2)Sleek body will give you feel like a Zen.
3) Good pick up.
Bad.
1) Leafspring
2) Engine noice
3) dash is not neat
4)Over priced.SS models are over priced.
Note: Innovo is a good car with a huge body.It is superb in highways but how do you expect you drive only in highways and it is over priced because of INR and Yen problems.It is worth when we gets each model of Innova a lack less.Why people are not going behind a tavera because people fearing GM.They stopped opel vehcles suddenly that makes fear for normal customers.There is no much ad for Tavera compares to other vehicle.If you beleive in our Amby engine you must believe Tavera engine also.And no webs are supporting GM vehicles.Why?You just think.Safari Dicor engine is superb but no web will give it is good and even for a simple copare also they won't give safari.Why?Because all people are looking only money.Ther is a human tendency that they see money more they will bend to that side.
Conclusion: The only vehicle in India good for taxi or a cab is Tavera.(If U want profit).Personnely I am not recommanding Tavera's luxury version because I feel it is highly priced i that case you can think Safari or Innova.And I heared that Xylo also nice.Ask doubt to a reliable person and don't beleive all web.Cheers.

My car is very comfortable but on highways we feel that we are helpless at 90 KM/HR. bad pickup. interiors specially ceiling is very bad like a TAXI. Please suggest me some thing to improve both. chevrolet people can you help me in this regard.
