Exterior I love the exterior looks and the aggressive stance.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Roomy interiors, good leg space for 2nd row seats as well. I wish the driver seat were 6 inces higher to give a higher seating, though its not really an issue. The dash fascia is not not as well organised as I would have liked. For instance the side view mirrors switch is not something you want to adjust when driving, being located inconveniently. What i really like is the way the 3rd row folds in , flush into the floor. Getting isn and out of the car is a breeze, unless you are wearing a saree!
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox I did not feel any lag in the autobox and the car has terrific acceleration and you can barely feel the gears shifting. The 4 disc brakes are outstanding.Too early to comment on fuel economy though I got 10 kms so far.
Ride Quality & Handling The suspension is tight , meant for a pseudo SUV, but not bad at all for a SUV. Its quite comfortable and sedan like , though the 2nd row passengers may not always agree. The handling is good , though the turning radius could be tighter.
Final Words I considered the santa fe, and the TATA stable. The former is too expensive and latter is just not good enough. The scorpio is too bouncy. I wouldn't btouch the Skoda yeti , from what I know of the after sales problems , skoda owners face. The endy was too huge for my liking. Among all these , i found the captiva well balanced in terms of comforts, features, economy and the pricing. I am having fun driving it.
Areas of improvement I would be happy to have cruise control, auto headlamps and redesigned cfront console witha port for music. Nothing i acnt live without though. What really should be upgraded is the music system, which is below expectations.
looks, good drive, acceleration and brakesNo AC for rear seats, music system is below par
