Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox AS CHEVROLET BUILT IT SO STRONG THAT IT CAN WITHSTAND MAXIMUM SHOCK, IT'S WEIGHT IS MUCH HIGHER THAN ANY OTHER CAR IN IT'S SEGMENT. HENCE, OBVIOUSLY IT'S FUEL EFFICIENCY IS LOW. FOR THOSE WHO USE IT ON COMMERCIAL PURPOSE, THIS CAR IS NOT SUITABLE. BUT WHO USE FOR OWN RIDE, AND NOT TOO MANY LONG JOURNIES, FOR THOSE IT'S SUITABLE CAR AS FUEL EFFICIENCY IS NOT COMPARABLE TO COMFORT AND SATISFACTION IT GIVES.
I READ MANY REVIEWS ABOUT NOTCHY REVERSE GEAR, BUT IF WE PRESS CLUTCH COMPLETELY, THERE WOULD BE NO PROBLEM, AND IT'S IS SUPPOSED TO BE. HENCE I NEVER FELT ANY PROBLEM.
BUT FOR PEOPLE WHO HAS PASSION OF RACING, IT'S FELT PICK UP HAS TO BE LITTLE MORE HIGHER.(DURINGSUDDEN SPEED RISING).
Ride Quality & Handling RIDE QUALITY IS EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT LEG ROOM( MORE THAN VOXVAGON POLO). I FELT TOTALLY SATISFIED.
Final Words FOR PEOPLE LIKE ME, WHO DONT NEED TO TRAVEL FOR LONG DISTANCES FREQUENTLY, MILAGE IS NOT A BIG MATTER. BUT IT'S EXCELLENT QUALITY BUILT, CLASSY INTERIORS, ETC, EVERYBODY CAN FEEL THE DIFFERENCE WHEN U COMPARE OTHER CAR (IT MAY BE POLO, ETIOS, SWIFT, RITZ ETC). IT'S SOPHISTICATED TECHNOLOGY BUILT DOESN'T TRANSMIT SHOCK FURTHER DURING AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE VELVET RED U-VA LT 1.2, WHICH I LOVE THE MOST.
Areas of improvement I HEARD THAT MILAGE WAS IMPROVED IN "NEW U-VA".

Exterior:
Stunning, better to view from 10 - 15 yards you will love the car which lot many mid-size cars don't have. I'm proud to own Aveo Uva in this aspect.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort):
Good, features average moving towards good. Biggest drawback is non-availability of Air bags in Mid and low version. As well as non-availability of Music System. Techno model has it however you have spend more. I heard from my colleague that in Wagon R they pack it with music systems and other features (ABS, Airbags) for less money
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox:
Engine performance so far excellent, too early for me to comment on the engine longevity and life. Fuel economy is pathetic. I think my car give only 10 to 11 kmpl (AC on and in normal traffic). AC is good infact on any hot days (in Summer afternoons) still the cooling is good quick When the AC is placed in the second position itself). Car still retains the same power when AC is on (i would like to disagree some other reviews which says the car loses bit of power when AC is on).
Experience:
Power is one concern, i had that experience. My car was caught in beach sands, it took me a herculean task to bring the car out. Otherwise on roads the car comes towards ruling if used with proper gears (not really for fast car lovers, but likeable for guyslike me you enjoy decent and gradual speed).
Gear box i don't see any issues, for me it is smooth as long as you use the proper techniques. May be for novice drivers the gear shift may not be as smooth. However if you are experienced i really don't see any issues. Sometimes we may have gear slipping when you are trying for reverse gear (the probability is 1 in 20) which i have experienced.
Ride Quality & Handling:
Heavenly ride. You can sit back tilt your steering and zoom around the city. While negotiating bends and sharp turns i find it smooth.
Final Words:
It is time for Chevy to introduce DOHC engine to experience the full power of Aveo - UVA. Try to add Airbag atleast for all versions (it is a must i feel taking into consideration the safety aspects).
Areas of improvement:
Mileage high time to work on it. I went for Uva inspite of facing stiff opposition due to its look, comfort and given the sparse usage need i have (once in a week 60 kms).

Exterior Its got decent look with a good rear styling.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) very spacious but boot space is less in its class.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Sluggish pickup for a petrol vehicle and even a swift diesel has better pickup, as for mileage u will feel u r driving a SUV gear transmission is very hard.
Ride Quality & Handling very loud road noise, lots of vibration, sounds like u r in a diesel vehicle.
Final Words Its got poor service, before I bought it (dynamics motors chandigarh) I was promise 3 years free maint and once purchase I was told the finer pts that its only for spark. padam motors bhatinda provides very poor service. The agency fails to address the problems to my satisfaction but it appears they just want to tick the task as carried out. the power window malfunctioned in the second month but the agency failed to rectify it. Lots of better alternatives available in the same price range and class.
Areas of improvement First of all service is the most important which is quite lacking to my experience.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Average Engine performance, feel the lack of power on hilly drive but adequate for plains drive. Fuel economy is good. i get 12 to 13 KPL in city with AC and about 17 on highway with AC. Gearbox is a bit of cause of concern, specially reverse gear.
Ride Quality & Handling That is a great plus with this car. Car got a very good suspension. Very comfortable on bad roads. handling is again very good.
Final Words I was smitten by its looks and ride quality when i bought this car. i purchased this car in April 2007 and driven about 40,000 kms. Driven on all sorts of roads. No major problems till date. After sales service has been excellent. A great buy for those who want a beautiful comfortable and spacious car for 4.5 lakhs. Go for it if you are narrowed down to Getz prime, Swift patrol, Hundai i 10 and UVA.
Areas of improvement A diesel version could be a great package. 14 inch tyres could be another improvement.

What is 1.2 duel??
UVA LT 1.2, Swift ZXi 1.2, i20 Asta, Micra XV, Expensive i20 was dumped out, next was Swift due to looks, interiors and expensive price, Micra also was quite costly. Other options 1st UVA LT, 2nd Vista Aura +, 3rd Ritz ZXI, 4th Skoda Fabia Elegance, Expensive Fabia, Flimsy Ritz, Staid Vista, Slightly slow UVA But - UVA is the winner!!!!
Exteriors It is so cute, like i10 Kappa2/Punto 1.4. Not dull or dated as Figo/Swift. The back side is slightly boxy,but otherwise elegant. Smart alloys. The tyres can be a bit wider but are ok.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors are beige which are cheerful and beautiful. A CD Player is missing but otherwise ok features like lumbar support for seats and Parcel-Tray,and all basic features like all-door power windows,power steering and manual AC. Manual AC does not dissapoint either as much,it is ok for such a good value car. Boot is decent for city,and it is just better than WagonR/Beat/Ritz/Spark. The front seats are so generous,the back seats are not bad either.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is a bit slow at low revs but quick and 75 PS not too bad.Just good figures for 1.2 litre engine. Fuel efficiency is more than adequate. Gear is light and fun.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride is sporty but handling not as good.
Final Words UVA is cute. Go for it. It is the small Aveo and engine is great. Maintenace is superb.
Areas of improvement Handling is not good,slightly slow on low revs.

I bought this car in the last year in Patna from Pandey Motors, the only dealer for Bihar.
Exterior is good but it may be improved, but I think due to average selling of this car Chevrolet is not intrested for any modification. The most bad thing in this car is the windshield (front glass) it is much slant that create problem during driving especially in night.
Interior is very good and this is the main attraction of the car, it looks spacious and also comfortable for long drive.
Engine performance is good, but fuel economy not considered during making of this car. It was said by the dealer that the milage of the car will be around 12-14 Km with AC, but I never got it, my 2006 esteem has better milage than it. Gearbox is ok, during 1 year I never faced any problem. It is very comfortable, but as Chevrolet claims its ground clearence is maximum for this segment, but its bumper sometimes collide with breakers if you are in speed.
Chevrolet has to improve its Service area because it is very poor and needs lots of improvement. Please improve the windshield if you can and improve the milage.

Hi frnz, I bought my chevy UVA on june 2009 and have drove 20k in both city, high way and off roads (trust me, Athirappally to Valparai road could only consider so). Over all its freat car i this segment, you wont feel disappointed, choosing it.
1, very big car in this segment.
2, comfortable and very spacious
3,amazing control in higher speeds
4,good mileage
5,good resale value (rarely you will find an used UVA for sale)
6,geares are very smooth except reverse gear
7,breaking is awsome but i heared some vehicls have problem with ABS (no idea)
8, lower turning ratio comparing to its size
9,very good handling
10, good A/C
11, effective lights
12, service is very cheap especially if you take 3 year extended warranty (thanks to GM) do ot compromise to a 15K off instead of extended warranty;its really worths.
over all good value for money
AS A COIN HAS TWO SIDES LET ME STATE THE SECOND SIDE ALSO.
1,initial pick up is very bad, once you pressed the break pedel you would need to wait little long or have to go higher gears
2,you will find little problem to find the horn while driveing in rush traffic or narrow turnings
3,reverse gear is little difficult come in hand, some times you may need to put first gear and make small move ahead.
4,an irritating noice from engine if you press accelator pedel little more than required
5,front arch is obstucting the right cornor vision especially in sharp right bends
Thats all guys, i drove my UVA at an average 50 kms speed in damn bad jungle road of Athirappally to Valparia and back(Kerala Tamilnad border) to and from Ernakulam arround 400 kms with in 13 hours, and i was not even a bit tired.

I'm in the process of finalising the first car for me. Certainly the smallest of the small ones are not there in my radar. I've shortlisted Swift, Getz, U-VA & Palio Style (My dream car of course). Today just completed the TD of U-VA after TDing Getz, i20 & Swift some time back. Am waiting for a car from Fiat Dealer. My vote is for U-VA so far provided Palio doesn't impress me. The car was handling like driving a knife in to butter. The space was the USP. The stability at speeds above 100 kmph doesn't have any competition (at least in this segment). Though the car was struggling to break the 100 kph with AC ON & 3 people occupying.
On the downside GM may consider working on the Torque characteristics of the engine though power is reasonably good for the engine size (at par with KAPPA in the i20). Similarly they should redo there pricing to literally tear the swift in to pieces (remember the premium swift is carrying in the used car markets across the country).
