Hi Folks,
Bought new FFusion Plus 1.6 Petrol in April 2008 ldroping SX4 and Verna. No regrets, on the more am more pleased. Till now have clocked 5000 kms and would like to share few things which I noticed about this car:
Favour:
a) Unique presence, good built quality exterior except plastics
b) Very responsive engine, very good pick-up, a pleasure to drive,
c) Roomy, decent leg room and shoulder space, better than almost all C segment cars, seat fold 60:40 with flat surface is an additional feature than all other hatch's
d) Big tyres gives you much more liberty on rough roads as well as excellent grip on slippery trcaks, one who travels on western express highway will encounter that
e) Spot on brakes, very safe, good chasis,
f) Excellent Aircon and readable dash, generally all cars too vague in highlighting the instruments attached on the dash
Against
a) Avearge fuel economy, but one who wishes power will not even consider this
b) Interior is a big let down, very poor quality apart from gear lever, all the things are easily forgettable
c) At low RPM's it is little rigid and pains driving in traffic jams
d) Very expensive spares with limited Ford network is a insult to an injury
I recently drove on Pune- Ahemdnagar highway which is in bad shape for a strech of 60 kms and I had four co-passengers, believe me none of them felt they are on rough terrain.
Few things to add on compariosons, it has better drive feel than SX4 and Aveo 1.6. The electrical instruments used in Ford are far superior than other cars except Honda.
The rear wiper starts automatically if front one are on and you put in reverse gear are one of the few intelligent quotients of the cars which other cars apart from Skoda fail to give makes this car even more likeable.
Overall it is car for every one. Will share more insights for the car once am done 10k.
Cheers
Ajoy

Exterior Its Crossover and no other car available in market near to this with the price Ford was selling this, offroader, amazing ground clearance just 12 mm less than Safari and more ground clearance than Scorpio, Tata Grande, Toyota Innova. Almost equal size of tire as of Innova.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Reasanably good, you can vary viper at 18 different speeds. Big trunk, fuel tank centrally mounted. Nice car to use for old age people because entry and exist is so easy.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine under power but have amazing torque. During my drives, I found better torque than what actually ford claim. I never see big engine cars crossing me once I start getting pickup from halt. Gearbox is smooth.
Ride Quality & Handling At highway, you will get the fealing of driving super luxury car with almost no engine noice inside. Cabin is so wide and its front windshield will give you a broad view of highways with no obstacles.
Final Words Its is complete failure of Ford Marketing and After sales support due to which Ford was forced to discontinue this car in Q1 2010 but I am sure many car lover would be missing this car and I am sure still they want to be proud owner of it.
Areas of improvement Its power, Service & Support, more accessories, strong marketting skills in ford and Re-continue this vehicle.

I now own the Fusion Diesel for 7 months and have done roughly 12000 km.
The fuel economy with A/C on the highway if you drive below 2000RPM which is at the speed of 80 kmph is comfortably above 25,In higher speeds it is 18 to 20 In the city with a lot of gear shifts and clutch usage it comes down to 13.
Very good Looks from the front and good ground clearance.
Dont find the diesel engine noise at all inside the vehicle. People doubt whether its a petrol once they are inside.
Fun to drive on the Highway, Good control even over speeds of 130 KPH.
The pop up box on the dash board spoils the otherwise superb look of the interiors coz of the material, which is prone to a lot of scratches on it. No Music System or speakers.Could have done without that bump in the centre of the rear seat. The back parcel shelf should have been stronger.
The Central Locking is bad as it can be opened by anyone from all the 4 doors. Somtimes even my 3 yr old child opens it when the car is moving for which i have to keep on the child locks on all the time, due to which some one has to open the door for the rear passengers, which is cumbersome.
The Ford dealers are very expensive and so r the spares.
Otherwise its a good car, could have been priced Rs.50000 less, which would have made it a big hit. Overall i am pretty Satisfied.

Exterior Good and stylish.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Good.enough boot space.dashboard looks could be better.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Good with low noise.easy gear shift.
Ride Quality & Handling Very good. Excellent road grip even at high speeds.
Final Words The car is great to handle particularly at high speeds.Good control and good break.Fuel economy is acceptable. My vehicle is giving 20 kms per litre.Seating comfort is good with good leg space and boot space.
Areas of improvement After sales service is pathetic and at times deplorable at Capital ford,Bhubaneswar. With the vehicle out of production, cost of spares is exhorbitant and could lead to heart attact.I replaced a front bumper recently and it cost me Rs.22,500.00 and a left head lamp Rs.15,000.00. Ford India could think of reintroducing the car as demand for such hatchbacks are there.Maruti has recently introduced one, Ertiga, in the same category. Indegenisation of spares must be looked into for the benefit of existing customers and if introduced, new customers.
Good style, good comfortAfter sales pathetic. donot get carried away by sales talk.Exterior/Styles

A great car/SUV and real value for money. It delivers good milage on diesel around 18kms in the city and upto 24 kms on long drives. Very spacious and gives feel of a full-sized SUV😊. The road grip is absolutley great & is a great family car if you consider their safety. It is too bad that Ford has discontinued this model😦. I had always wanted to buy this car but was discouraged by many as it was a Ford, but I liked this model so much that I just went ahead and purchased one and beleive me that I am very satisfied with what I got versus money spent😄.
The parts are a bit expensive but should not be a concern if it was covered on warranty. I would give full ratting for this one and hope that Ford relaunches this model as many of my friends too want to buy it.
Real value for money, good hight, great space, gives feel of a full size SUVToo bad they stopped production

Exterior
Front and rare looks are very different and gives SUV look. Front grill is very different and stands tall
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
three adults can seat comfortably on rare seat, and seating is comfortable with ample of leg spaces. Boot space is excellent providing space for almost everything. overall interior is cool and good.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
Diesel engine rocks with excellent fuel economy (18-20km). Engine is sensitive to acceleration and pick up is good with a/c on.
Ride Quality & Handling
driving gives sporty feeling as handling is not as smooth as any luxary car and seating position is high. ABS and EBD makes one feel safe while driving. turning radius is also very less which helps to drive on crowded market streats
Final Words
Excellent car in its class.
Areas of improvement
Improve advertisement and marketing strategies. Ford India failed to introduce new fusion as they introduced other models, which is reflected by sale values
fuel economy is very good. front look is awesome.interior is excellent, dash board design is cool, overall car is very spacious and comfortable.

This review might be a late in coming, but better late than never. I have had a Ford Fusion + TDCI for almost 11 months now.So I guess my review comes with a lot of experience on the vehicle.
I owned a Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCI for 2. 5 years upto May 2008.An uncle of mine was looking to buy a good used vehicle and took it off our hands for an 'in-the- family 'deal .
Now I was very happy with the Fiesta for its comfort, and exceptional handling.
Looking to buy an alternative car in more or less the similar price range, ( between 7 and 8.5 lacs) and looking for a change from the Fiesta, led me to consider Skoda Fabia, Swift Dzire, Maruti SX4, Honda city, Hyndai Verna.
I was looking for something unique, a car not seen in huge numbers on the Indian roads, and yet offered everything I was looking for from a mid sized vehicle.
The Fusion + hit the spot right on! We got a paprika red + model with all the trimmings for a 7.65 all inclusive deal.
The dealer threw in vinyl beige coloured seat covering, beige leather wrapping on steering wheel, a 2 din JVC sound system with 4 speakers, garware tinted film and a 3rd year warranty to in addition to the 2 year they already offered. It took a bit of hard bargaining but we managed to get what we think is a great deal.
The car is mounted on 15 inch wheels, and the extra one inch makes a huge difference on the Mumbai roads.
Most pot holes feel like mere dips in the road. The handling is exactly similar to the Fiesta. The added height gives me the near SUVish feel. Great visibility all round. The AC is one of Fords finer points. The fusions AC cools very fast and very effectively.
I think they wanted to give the car a SUV like build ride quality. As a result, you FEEL the bumps, with pronounced THUDS, but it does not hamper the ride quality in way whatsoever. You just seem to glide over them. There is no body roll despite the high stance.
Great space on the inside with 5 adults sitting in most comfortably. The boot space at the back is also adequate for most of my needs. And the rear seat splits up 60:40 for that excess luggage on the trip to/from the airport.
The engine is the same as the Fiesta. But since the fusion is heavier than the Fiesta, a bit of the peppiness is missing. Also, initially the Fusion was available in petrol variant. SO i guess with the Diesel variant some ambient sounds creep into the cabin. I would have liked the sound insulation to be better.
But these are just minor gripes.
I get a decent 13kmpl in city with AC and around 16 kmpl on the highways at speeds that are constantly upwards of 110kmph.
The interiors: plastics, seat fabrics are of good quality, the instrument cluster well placed with distance to empty meter which can be alternated with inbuilt clock.
I highly recommend the + version. The ABS and EBD makes for great braking and instills a lot of confidence when driving on any surface.
The car is very stable on high speeds. I have touch 160kmph and the car feels glued to the ground. Not a feeling I experienced with Japanese or Korean cars in same segment.
Ford has slashed its rates for Fusion by around 20-30 thousand.
For anyone looking for family vehicle for the city with the odd out of town trip... go for it!

I am now a happy owner of fusion petrol...
earlier i had a corsa swing 1.6 and i always hated sedans.. three box cars never facinated me.. mainly because in tropical countries like india the rear seat occupants are horribly sun-hit due to the slanted rear wind shield... one gets cool AC air from the front and hot sun rays burning the neck and head...if u try to cover that glass..ur rear view is hampered... such is never the case with hatchbacks .. be it maruti 800 or any other hatch like zen, santro, alto, wagon-R. getz, swift for that matter...
but there was no other C segment hatch in the market when i sold off my corsa and all the B or B+ segment hatches were a compromise for a power lover like me..
So i bought Honda City CVT then, since it was newly launched and thought of giving it a try...
...and immediately after my purchase of city, fusion was launched...
i had fallen for this car there and then but had to wait for four years till i could sell off my city...
After so much introduction, first advice is don't buy fusion for fuel economy... i wanted power and punch in my car which this fusion reasonably gives me..i get overall FE of 10 kms/Ltr ...for FE may be Fusion TDCi is the answer.. u get frugality at the cost of power...
i have driven fusion for 2000 lms now.. it comes with 2 years or 40000 kms warrantee... first service at 1500 kms was free...
In short Here are pros: looks and feels like mini CRV... you can buy 3 fusions in the cost of one CRV... had a good road presence due to its tall stance, has enough power and torque for fast pick up in city or highways, feels sturdy and safe, easy entry/exit, low engine noise, high ground clearance.. u dont have to think twice before entering rough uneven surface, good AC, good handling even at high speeds and on curves, has a digital clock cum DTE indicator, nice stearing and gear grip ...one feels confident, practicality of rear seat folding makes me comfortably take my dalmatian around...overall i can say, its good VFM since one cant think of buying an SUV at this price...
some cons : Prominent tyre noise inside the cabin, some standard things which now many B segment cars offer are missing like tin/can holders at the rear, no goggle holder, no electrical ORVMs, no option to buy ABS as was available earlier, no rear seat armrests... less power in second gear... have to wait for delivery of torque in second gear till the RPM hit 3000.. ride quality is fair but not very good.... And the most imp drawback is that it lacks snob value...may be resale value also, when i later on want to sell it off... my friends ridiculed me for buying a fusion after a city CVT... it is still considered inferior to sedans in public mind...
but i am very happy abt my decision... some may call it : Dil aaya gadhi pe to pari kya cheej hai...? say cheese.. :-)

Exterior
Is amazing, the look and feel is as per the comfort. The overall exterior is good.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
Sitting arrangement is cool, the car is spacious. The AC is quite strong and is well placed, the back seat are very comfortable. The boot space is excellent. The noice from outside and engine is nil. AC air is circulated across all directions which make the drive more enjoyable.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
Pickup is wow. Avergae is low, but when you ride than you don't think of the fuel. Its a machine with power. The gears are very easy to rolled across. The movement of gear is pretty cool.
Ride Quality & Handling
Riding is fun, handling is simple, view of the car while parking is very good. The pick up is amazing even at 1st gear. Good part is even if you drive at a good speed at 1-2 gear you can change to 3rd gear and you don't feel the jerk. The drive is smooth. One important part is the air pressure of type should be regulary checked.
Final Words
The car is for car lovers. It can be tamed or can become wild...enjoy your ride😊
Areas of improvement
Should have provided Airbag.

I was desperately waiting for this Diesel version of Fusion. as i was already owning a Fiesta with good interiors and great engine. The Fusion from the outside there is no much change, as i ventured in, i felt like i am entering fiesta but in a stripped.way. Simply not worth Rs.7.71k. As i drove around, there is a feeling of driving a SUV, as there is good risen sitting position, good strong built feel but whats worth the wide tyres, good clearence when the outmost thing required is the "heart" i.e the ENGINE. The power to weight ratio is bad, there is absolute no pull in the vehicle. In city its ok ok, but on the highway while overtaking, i was shifting gears like crazy to get the right power down and with so many changes, average goes down. I just wished they had a engine with a higher tweak, seeing the power to weight ratio. The biggest example is the Ford Endeavor, after such a long time, they realized that you need a engine that could pull, even though its a SUV, its needed. I am sure they will realize this sooner than they did in case for Enduver.
I will surely miss the Fusion Diesel in my guarge.
