Pros: - Solid build quality - Stylish - Fuel efficient, I get 20 to 23 kpml - Excellent ride quality - Excellent high speed stability - Ground clearance like SUV Cons: - Engine noise at high speed. - Turbo lag under 2000 rpm I got my car in April 2014. Dealer was KHT Fiat Domlur, Bangalore. The staffs were able to explain all about the car, giving test drive vehicle, and also helped in loan formalities. I insisted to deliver the car on asap, my anniversary is on 6th April and wanted give a big surprise to my wife and my family.... Yes, none of them new I bought the car until next day I shown my pearl white Punto!! KHT guys were co-operative to give the delivery in next day after approving the loan, by completing registration but except allocating the reg number. The overall buying experience was really good. Soon after I got the car at around 2:00 PM, I headed to my home town - 330 kms solo ride!! I wasn't an experienced driver, but was confident and also eager to ride for hours, through forest in late night, and take on bad roads. The stability was solid on uneven road also. I had also touched triple digit on first ride and I realized only after some time, by looking at the speedometer. Later on I did many long trips (Max 500+ kms / day), taken her upto 160 km/h. The steering feedback is great and never felt any vibration on any speed. I always felt the car is under control even on fast cornering. Mileage: Maximum I got on highway is 29 kmpl when driven 60 to 80 km/h from Bangalore to Coorg in early morning. The worst highway mileage is 17 kmpl, when driven rashly, and frequently went above 140, on Bangalore - Hassan Express way. Here is the average on my regular drives - City - 14 to 17 kmpl - Highway - 20 to 23 kmpl Next plus point is ground clearance. You can drive punto to anywhere without scratching underbody, just need to avoid slush and mud where 2W drive vehicles may get stuck.. The multijet do have turbo lag, but I am used it and never felt as problem on sedate drive. It has enough torque from 1500 rpm to pull the car, but if you have to gear down if you want quick acceleration. The only dislike for me is the engine noise at high speed. About service, it is never great. I have a friend in fiat service center and he takes care of my Punto, so it was never a problem for me I did 3 service from different, in Bangalore. I didn't find any problem, but I can definitely say it is not great

Fiat grande punto active 1.2 review Hi. This happens to be my first review here. I was looking for a car in the 4 to 4.5 lac segment. My driving remains between 700 to 800 km per month, so a petrol hatch was what I was looking for. The obvious choices in this segment were : 1. Hyundai i10 2. Swift petrol 3. Hyundai Getz Prime 4. Ritz 5. Grande punto The Punto’s basic model (the 1.2 L Active) costs 4.25 L on road so I decided to check this out. The car looked very handsome on the outside. The shape is not too curvy like the Swift or the I10, or too sharp like the Getz. The lines are clean and neat, though I found the front grille a little too retro. Overall, I think I will still like this car five years later if I buy it. The suspension is out of the world. While most other cars I mentioned, offer plain Mcpherson struts with coil springs, this one has telescopic dampers too! I pressed down a little on the bonnet and viola! The car nodded like a baby! Spacewise, this one is even more airier than the Getz. In fact, its just a few cm smaller than 4 mts. Three people can sit very comfortably at the back. At the most basic model, this car provides things most other cars don’t. barring the central locking, which is not there in the 1.2 Active, I couldn’t find much reason to complain. It has front power windows, a decent hydraulic power steering, 60:40 folding seats and even the immobilizer! Wow! Built wise, it is very solid and feels so. My only concern is the engine output. At a mere 68 bhp, would it be able to sustain a joy ride six months down the line like it did when I test drove it?good style. good exterior, suspension, spacebad interiors, slow engine

      Exterior

the exterior are amazing with its curves and contours provides a continuity from front to rear. quality of paint is bit doubtful. as it started coming off from bumpers in three months time.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

i have been driving a punto 1.2 active petrol and i am quite satisfied with the decision i have taken when buying, bought it in nov 2009, and i recorded an average of 19 kmpl on highway and it was quite steady on the road as well. Although the city average is lesser but still better than what they claim its 15 kmpl.

      Ride Quality & Handling

Smooth ride on the highways even on a little bumpy roads also.

      Final Words

in the current price tag it seems a bit expensive if compared with peers but still with features its value for money

      Areas of improvement

The only lacking is the central locking which if factory fitted would have taken care of the security. its better that the stereo is not factory fitted as one can choose from the variety in the market.

good fuel economy at highways 19 kmplsome features are lacking

      Exterior:

No doubt, this is the best looking car now available.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort):

Very good interiors, comfortable and rich looking. Never faced any of the often repeated complaints of poor plastic quality. Has lot of features second only to i20 Asta.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox:

Very good performance with in the city and terrific on the highway. The car really comes to its own at speeds above 50 kmph. Superb stability that inspires confidence on straights and winding corners. Very good fuel economy - I regularly get over 17 kmpl in normal city drive and over 20 kmpl on highways all with AC on 100% of the time.

      Ride Quality & Handling:

With out doubt this has the best ride quality and handling available in vehicles below Rs. 10 Lakh. Very stable and very comfortable over good and bad roads. Ride quality is comparable to what you would get on a Toyota Corolla or Skoda Laura. Handling is precise, you know what exactly the tyres are upto in all road conditions.

      Final Words:

One of the best vehicle I have driven, good value for money and highly recommended.

      Areas of improvement:

Increase the number of service centers.

Excellent driving comfort, very good fuel economyA little waiting time for some spares

after a lot of study I bought FIAT GP 1.3 diesel Emotion Pack from a thane dealer. I have so far driven more than 2500 Kms including trips to Pune & Shirdi. Earlier I have used various small cars including Zen ( old model) , UNO & Santro. I always wanted to buy a small car, however I was not happy with the space & comfort offered.

When my Santro Xing was due for replacement , I wanted to buy another Hyundai Vehicle as I was very satisfied with service level & refinement of the vehicle. However I never liked the i 20 & had decided to settle for Getz 1.5 CRDI. My everyday travelling is more than 70 Kms & hence I wanted to buy a Diesel Vehicle. though the Getz was an almost perfect choice, it lacked several important features like ABS.

then GP arrived & it had almost everything I wanted in a premium hatchback.

I am overall very happy with the performance of the vehicle. during my recent trip to Shirdi , it gave me a mileage of over 18 ! in mixed conditions I get an average of 15+, with first service coming up it may improve further.

the vehicle has great style , good interiors & a host of latest featues. we were very happy with the comfort. Bad roads were easiliy soaked up & body roll was minimal. vehicle feel very solid & high profile tyres with 15"alloy wheels do a perfect job.

the engine tends to be slighly noisy & it takes some time to get adjusted to higher levels of NVH especially in my case as I had never used Diesel vehicles earlier. the pick up in second gear is delayed & one must rev high while overtaking , vehicle feels very good @ 2000 RPM , speeds of 80 ~ 90 KMPH.the steering is not as light as Santro or Swift but does the job

Overall I am very happy with the vehicle & hope the service matches up. however it is really strange why FIAT is not advertising & pushing this vehicle? it may be because of TATA marketing guys may be afraid of their own cars taking a beating !! whenever I stop at the signal or for refualing , many people ask me a lot of questions as they love the looks. FIAT / TATA should think seriously , else this car will also follow the path of Palio & other FIAT cars.

      Mahesh , Thane

good economy, highly comfortable , good road grip , great features normally avl only with big carsdiesel engine slightly noisy , low pick up in second gear

I am driving Fiat Petrol car since last 15years. Premier Padmini last model for 7 years & Fiat Palio 8 Years. Recently I have purchased Punto Active 1.2. I had faith on the FIAT performance as I believe that FIAT driver only knows the car. It is really beyond my expectations also. Good value for money. On road price with everything with additional Music system is Rs. 4.6Lakh. Mileage more than 15kmph on highway with AC. Only drawback I felt is touching the front bottom in slight bump also.

If compared with money vis a vis other performances, it is leader in the market with i20, Aveo U-VA, Swift, Ritz,Vista, getz, Jazz, etc. etc.

Recent TATA motor after sales service is added advantage.

I do not bother for Resale value.

Comfort superb. Space is very good. Longest & Style best in the segment.

Good value for money, leader in style, good Mileage,Touches the front bottom in slight bump.

Hello readers, I first saw this car in my town (Mandi Dabwali) on 12/10/2009 and feel that this car is really a eye catcher. on 20/10/2009 I went to Garyson Motors, Showroon situated at kotkapoora chowk, Moga.I saw The Punto first time up close i could say that it really appealed me.Sales person give us a thourgh breif of the punto but i sensed he was a bit untrained his name was lakhvir singh sangha mobile no. 9814045146. i asked wor the test drive but he say that he could arrange that at ludhiana but can not give it in moga because this is the only punto in showroom and is for showroom view only. I liked the car and he also offered me 4 years/150000 kms warranty. I did not take the test drive but then also was willing to buy the car.I asked him for delivery which was possible and he promised to get it deliver by 25/10/2009. I gave him the booking amount and also send him the DD of the amount of 5,60,926 rs on 23/10/2009 which reached him on monday. On 23/10/2009 when i asked for the address to be courired he tell me that the delivey would be on 2/10/2009. on 28/10/2009 i was told that i would be get it on 2/11/2009 and when i reconfirmed them on 30/10/2009 i was told that delivery of my car would not be possible before 07/11/2009 . so after all that died enthusiam of getting a new car and making a joker of me infront of my friends and relative on there false promises all i could say that this is not good for a brand which is struggling for a come back. I could only say that it is good car but the delivery and sales staff should be very well taken care off. one more point i would like to add is they should come to small towns where there is absence of showrooms and let people see more of there cars

      Hi

After a long long wait I had a test drive for Punto petrol and desiel. This is typical Indian marketing style ...even when u walk in to the showroom there is no one to attend u. This happened with me with 2 dealers in mumbai. If u compare this to the Skoda Fabia or Ford Fiesta the sales guys they r really helping and answering all your queries and I had the test drive for Fabia and Fiesta immediately the next day at my door step....

Atleast dropped in to Wasan Motors Chembur and the Sales rep Mr. Jogindar was really helpful. In fact I walked in to the showroom quite early and the showroom guys arranged the test drive for Punto desiel ....

The main drawback I found was the huge engine noise in the cabin for the 1st and 2nd gears. When I gave this feedback to the showroom guys they requested me to try the petrol version. ,...and but obvious the petrol engine was smooth with hardly any noise.

Now the question was I wanted to go in for desiel model but I was very upset with the noise in the cabin. This is where Mr.Joginder helped me and we again went for the test drive of desiel model......

Guys ...let me tell u this was a real different experiance for me ....The car pick up is great compared to other desiel cars....

U can go on the 3rd and 4th gear at very low speeds ...the engine remains smooth even if reduce speed on 4th gear .....the car just moves on even if u dont accelerate ...that is in heavy traffic u just need to control the car with breaks ....absolutely no gear shift required u can be on 2nd or 3rd.......U will never feel like u r driving a desiel car

Now this feature and smoothness I have never experianced in any car.....

Its a real great engine superb built body u feel very safe in the cabin...and ofcourse all the features that u want and think of (u may check the features in the specs)......Moreover the wider wheelbase helps the car stability

Overall I am very impressed with the drive quality and planning to book Punto Desiel Emotion .......the only worry is the big question mark on after sales service of Fiat

Superb build quality, perfectly balanced stearing, smooth ridemay be the seats should be more comfortable
