What is it?
A mobile phone holder is one popular car accessory that many of you might find very useful. It keeps the phone secured in one place, and may be also in front of you so that you don't have to take your eyes off the road. Hence, the primary use we can say is for using maps or navigating routes, while also being able to quickly answer some important calls. Many mounts like dashboard mounts, windshield mounts, air vent mounts and CD-slot mounts are popular and work well with different mobile gadgets. The Zoook Moto69 ZMT-CMV is a magnetic mobile phone holder that clings to the air vents on the dashboard. How effective is it? We found out.
What's in the box?
The neatly packaged box contains a magnetic mobile holder with 'Zoook' printed on it and two metallic plates. The latter ones are powder coated so you don't need to worry about them rusting. The smaller circular plate can be stuck at the back of the phone, while the rectangular metallic plate goes between a phone cover and the phone's back cover. There's a warranty card that clearly mentions that it is covered by a one year parts and labour warranty.
How to install?
Since our phone here had a cover, we chose to pack the rectangular plate inside it. If you are planning to use the circular one, just make sure you paste it on the centre of the phone’s back cover to maintain a good balance later. The magnetic mount can be slided straightaway into the AC vents without any fuss. The clamps have a small gap in between ensuring it will fit on most car models. We tried it out on the Fiat Urban Cross, Tata Tigor, Honda Amaze, Datsun Redi-GO, Tata Hexa, Honda Jazz, Mercedes GLC Coupe and the BMW 5 Series. It fitted well in each car showing its versatility. Just make sure you choose an ergonomic vent that will provide one-touch access to you.
How does it work?
As you might have already figured by now, the mobile holder works on the magnetic properties to hold two objects together - the phone and the holder. This holder sticks well to the metallic plate in the cover. In turn, the holder clings firmly onto the AC vents too. Make sure you slide it in or pull it out slowly to avoid breaking the vents. The rubber sheath around the clamps makes sure this process happens smoothly. The base of the mount also gets a rubber mount providing a velvety touch ensuring there are no scratches on either surfaces. You can move the mount along with the vent to adjust the phone according to your requirement. The mount holds on to the phone firmly on the run facilitating a single-handed operation for navigation or to play music on the phone.
How much does it cost?
The carton of the product mentions the price to be Rs 999. However, a quick search on Amazon and its user review section suggested that some buyers could avail it at a price as low as Rs 192. It's a steal at this price. Even for a price of Rs 264, which can be seen right now on Amazon, it's a good bargain. The Zoook mobile holder is easy to install and with one-touch mounting it ensures zero efforts in mounting the phone. Sure, it cannot be mounted on a dash panel or the windshield in your car, which could have ensured you don't take your eyes off the road for a long time. Nonetheless, this one serves the purpose too. In fact, it did its job really well even when the car went over rough surfaces. The magnetic properties are pretty strong to not let the phone fall off in such situations too. We are not sure if it will be able to take the weight of bulky GPS devices, navigators, tablets etc. However, it's very adjustable with different phones and we can vouch that it can hold on to smartphones firmly with a screen size of up to 5.5-inch.
