Air Cushion
It is no secret that we spend a lot of time in our cars, more time than you would probably imagine given our traffic flow situation. What’s more, driving over bad roads (of which there are plenty) can be exhausting, especially if you are spending hours behind the wheel. Fortunately, you can ease off the effects on your back thanks to the world of aftermarket solutions. A seat cushion, for one, is a fair example as it makes driving more comfortable and tolerable over long distances.
What we have here is an air cushion seat called Fego Float that supposedly offers bump absorption and reduces the chances of back pain. Made by Feel Good Innovations, it’s the result of a crowdfunding campaign on FuelADream. Let’s put it to test.
What do you get?
The Fego Float comes with an inflatable seat cushion pad, a mesh cover, an air pump and a pair of straps/fasteners. We found the cushion to be ergonomically designed and somewhat contoured. The latter is essential for under thigh support when seated upright.
How does it work?
For starters, you need to inflate the cushion with the air pump. The whole process of attaching the air nozzle to the pad and inflating it takes seconds. All you need to do next is put the cushion back in the mesh cover and strap it to the car’s seat base. Having tested it over a range of cars, we noticed a couple of other things – the cushion is apt for all cars as its large enough to cover the entire seat, offering decent under thigh support.
Even after hours of usage, the Fego Float offers a good support without going flat, provided it’s inflated appropriately. The mesh cover also packs strap handles at both ends which allow you to carry the cushion with you, meaning you can use it anywhere be it your home or office chair.
All in all, should you pick up the Fego Float for Rs 1,699, or at a Super Early Bird price of Rs 1,599?
If you do not drive much, chances are you may not see the benefit of this air cushion. On the other hand, those who frequently battle long commutes are likely to appreciate the extra layer of cushioning. Also, we would like to add that this product works well with softly padded seats (usually the case with old cars) as it adds a level of firmness to the base.
