    • Practical and Comfortable with Impressive Handling and Performance, Though Not Without Flaws
My buying experience with the car was pretty straightforward and relatively hassle-free. The first car I inspected during the PDI before delivery had minor issues, like mud stains in the interior (most likely due to the driver who transported it from the yard to the showroom). I wasn’t initially looking for a reallocation, but after pointing out three such issues, the dealership suggested they would allocate a new vehicle. This pushed the delivery by a week, which I felt was reasonable. For the second vehicle, I performed only a quick PDI, and so far, I haven’t faced any major issues. After driving the car for almost 1,500 km and about to go for its first checkup, I can confidently say it’s a no-nonsense car. Of course, there are some cost-cutting measures evident, but most won’t affect your daily driving experience. While many missing features are “nice to have” or for the show, certain omissions, like the lack of a boot-opening button on the key fob, could have been avoided. The car is easy to drive in heavy traffic, on narrow roads, highways, and even bumpy roads. Most of the time, you won’t feel like you’re driving a large car. Rear passenger comfort is top-notch, and so far, my family hasn’t complained about the ride quality. Mileage: In the city, under decent traffic conditions, you can achieve up to 12 km/l if you drive in the ecozone, but it could drop to 7–8 km/l if you drive aggressively. However, I managed to get 14.5 km/l in the city during low-traffic hours by being cautious with the accelerator. These numbers are all during the break-in period, so there is a high chance that these will improve after the first service The ride quality, handling, and comfort are excellent, and the car is better or as equally good as its competitors in these aspects. Who is this car for? This car doesn’t truly offer a top-end variant; there’s no sugar-coating that. If you’re mentally prepared to forego some fancy features—and even a few not-so-fancy ones available in competitor models—you’ll be content with this car. It’s a great choice if you’re looking for a family car that prioritizes comfort and a good driving experience. Concerns: 1. Third-Party Accessories: One issue is the lack of third-party accessories for the car. Even something as basic as a 7D floor mat isn’t available at local accessory shops. Citroën’s dealership mentioned that the company plans to launch more accessories, such as a 360-degree camera, but there’s no ETA on these. Moreover, essentials like an engine guard are missing from the official accessory list. While the dealership claims it will be available soon, months have passed without any updates. 2. Paint Quality and Panel Fitting: I had PPF applied to my car, and during that process, the detailer noticed several issues. There was a significant amount of micro-dust embedded in the paint and a minor shade difference between the metal and fiber parts that were painted. Additionally, there were some uneven panel gaps. Interestingly, the detailer mentioned that one of their customers with a C5 had a superb paint job with well-fitted panels, showing a stark contrast. Even in the MotorOctane YouTube channel's review, they noted that the Basalt variant has the least paint thickness compared to competitors, which is quite disappointing. 3. Customer Support: Contacting Citroën directly (not the dealership) is a challenge. Their WhatsApp business channel doesn’t work, and emails go unanswered for weeks. When you finally get a response, it’s often just to ask for your contact number, after which they ghost you again. From what I’ve heard from other customers, the service center experience is good, but the lack of response from Citroën’s official channels remains a persistent issue. Suggestions for Citroën: If Citroën wants to improve its sales in India, it needs to prioritize fixing its contact channels and customer service. A better customer support system would go a long way in addressing these concerns and enhancing the ownership experience.

    • Worth and unique road presence
I bought Basalt on 5th November. Done 2000 km and excellent drivability. Real-time mileage could be 16 to 18 for highways. 14 for the village and less traffic route. 12 to 14 for the city. Overall very nice experience. I am not a new car buyer. If this product is under another networked brand then the sale could be in the top 10 list Pros: Drive quality Suspension Pickup Space Road presence Pickup Cons: Limited service network Fit and finish Neutral: Fuel efficiency is neither bad nor excellent. • Great Ride Quality and Comfort
Basalt is a great car in terms of ride quality, comfort, and suspension. It is better than the segment above cars in this regard. The engine is very smooth and refined. Power delivery is great. It is a very spacious car and go for it if you are fine with the features it comes with as some are missing.

    • Driven for 3000 Kms and hasn't disappointed me yet
Driven for 3000 Kms and hasn't disappointed me yet on the comfort half. The engine is just ready to go with you to any extent. The mileage of 19Kmpl with AC from Bangalore to Kochi and the city is about 12-13 KMPL inside Kochi, However, Bangalore being notorious for its traffic gave me about 8-9KMPL all with AC on. On my Ecsport, the climate control is always at 22 degrees, while on Basalt I have settled for 25-26 Deg. You do not want to go below that if it is sunny. Driving is fun, however, if you are a VW Skoda fan then you wouldn't like it, it's built for comfort and the suspension just works like magic on Bangalore roads.

    • Definitely Consider Buying- Great Car with Good Safety and Engine
      1. Driving Experience: I drove the turbo petrol manual, and the driving experience was amazing for city driving. The turbo engine is peppy, and you will immediately spot the difference if you drive a Hyundai or a Kia. I drove through bumpy roads and the suspension handled it all really well, Citreon is known for their suspension, so this was no surprise. The seats were cushy. I experienced no bodyroll even at higher speeds. The gear handling could’ve been smoother, especially as you shift from the first to the second gear, but it isn’t a dealbreaker. It was also fairly fuel efficient. 2. Passenger Comfort and Safety: The cabin was comfortable, and completely insulated from noise. The seats had decent thigh support, and legroom. Taller passengers also had decent headroom in the front and backseats despite the coupe design, which was one of my initial concerns. The AC was surprisingly very powerful for a European car, so it’s great for Indian summer. There were no creaky sounds in the cabin, and the door thud was sturdy. Basalt comes equipped with 6 airbags and has safety features like hill hold control, brake assist, right from the base model. The fact that it has already received a 4 star Bharat NCAP rating definitely adds to the appeal of the car. 3. Looks: Basalt definitely looks stunning for its price segment. I feel Citreon could provide bigger tires in the Basalt, and angle it’s boot inwards to make it look less like a sedan, but that’s a personal preference. It definitely has road presence and the lettering on the backside looks great. On the inside, I really liked the dual tone interiors. The car felt premium on the inside but some of the plastics could’ve been better. 4. Features and Pricing: Basalt packs in most of the features one will use in day to day driving. Priced similarly to the Curvv Pure Variant, the Basalt Plus Turbo adds additional features like rear ac vents, rear armrest and cup holders, engine start stop and idle start stop. But the lack of cruise control at this price range can annoy those who need to travel out of town quite a bit. I hope Citreon works on this. I also found the pricing for the turbo models to be expensive, if they want to undercut Tata Curvv that has a higher brand appeal inside India. 5. Service: Citreon provides easy pickup and drop for servicing and maintenance is not that expensive. A standard service will cost you around ₹4000. However there are limited service centres. Citreon could work here to expand their service coverage. All in all, it is a good car with a great engine and driving dynamics. Those who care more about performance, ride handling, fuel efficiency, comfort and safety will find it appealing. Those who want fancy features, like a sunroof, ventilated seats and the likes, will not. If Citreon adds cruise control in the turbo variants, or reduces the price of turbo variants, it would be a GREAT buy.
