The day i bought this car i just fell in love with it.It just cost me Rs 3.45 lakhs to buy this comfyride.

I can say that this is the best car in its category because i have used some of the other cars in this category.But spark has some real spark in it.

I have driven all other cars of this category but what spark's speciality is it gives unmatched comfort even for a taller guy(5'11") like me.

Its real big from inside.A good legspace,nice interior and more than that what a good stable, silent,smooth ride it is.Its not shaky like other cars of this category even at the speed of 110.

Its compact design makes it smooth to park.

Its engine is so silent that sometimes I idiotically key it again to check that it is on or not.

It has better ground clearance(Botom of car is not gonna hit the speed breakers or stones at all).I am driving it on roads of Madhyapradesh and I can tell you from my experience,no matter how bad your road is (can't be bad than roads of Madhyapradesh) you will not feel the odds of any road if you are sitting in chevrolet spark.

My car has crossed 3000 km. and giving a good mileage of 16/lt.

In the end I will talk about its style...you can judge how stylist it is by seeing the admiration in eyes of peoples crossing by you.It feels good when somebody personally come to you and admires the looks of your car..More than 50 strangers have complimented my car since january 1st of 2009, the day i bought it.

hi guys, i 've brought a new spark ps on 30/7/09. now i want share the buying and owning experience with you. WHY SPARK?? even though initially spark was not in my list ,i ended up buying it mainly because of the reviews about it in sites like carwale and other auto magazines.After analysing the reviews and road test report and after a test drive i decided that spark would be the best one for me. Although wagonr,santro,astar and i10 are very competent cars ,i ruled them out because..santro and wagon r too old models..almost 6 years in the market and i have driven them extensively,and i did'nt have any thrill in owning them.ASTAR was rued out because it was too congested for me.and price was the deciding factor againt i10(70k difference). Me and my friend together booked 2 sparks assuming to get better offers from dealer.The dealer was german motors,calicut.kerala. The prevailing offer was 40000+10000ex.bonus+4000 corpo. dis. When we were on the way to showroom ,the sales guy called me and told the ex.bonus is reduced to 6000.We made some arguments there and last they agreed for 10000. and told that no additional offers(except for flaps and mats).will be given as already 4000 was given from the dealer side.. I enquired at other dealerships and all were offering10000...so the dealer played a trick on me. I questioned them and they had to accept that it was company offer and put the blame on the sales guy and manager apologised. I 've mentioned that i enquired at other dealership also and then understod that how easily people are cheated by the dealerships.... the ernakulam dealer "GEEYEM MOTORS" were offering only 35000 dis. while company themselves was offering 40000.i questioned them and the they agreed to pay the whole 40000.Another dealer "DEEDI MOTORS" trivandrum was ofering the full discount but their ex. showroom price was a cool 10000 higher than the company price...this is how easily customers are cheated. i verified the original ex showroom price from customer service num. of GM. and german motots were offering the same. After about one month of bargainig the dealer was not offering nothing much except for a underbody coat..and i decided o take the delivery as my friend decided to hold back some more time.I also got 1000rs discount on delivery®n charges(i pointed out regn charges were rs50 for temp regn and 200 for permenent and rs150 cess (total 400) and they were charging 2500.They also provided me wheel cups. on road price 279900+5500(INSURANCE WITH 20%NCB)+16700(ROAD TAX)+1500DELIVERY CHARGES TOTAL 303600 The delivery was a a smooth process and was on time.on the delivery day although they told that it will be at 5 pm,i reached the showroom morning and went to yard and checked the vehicle.odo reading was 16 km. i installed a pioneer music system with usb and speakers for 9000 and fake wood stickers on dash for 900. before delivery i noticed that there were mist formation inside the hesd lights and brought in to their notice. iwas told that it was due to pressure washing!! By evening 6 pm igot deivered the car and drove back home along with my brother. The steering was smooth,clutch very light and gear shift okey.head light were really good. about ac, it is monsoon here and i think only in summer i judge the ac performance. The engine although i expected it to be butter smooth after reading the reviews and myself testdriving the vehicle,this sounded like a wagon r's engine..not as smooth as i expected ..may be because it is in run in period. till now i've covered 600 kms .The FE is 12 on highway and city condiions(the roads are in very bad shape due to monsoons). painted the bumbers ,handles and mirrors at 4500,remote lock at 3400 (genuine accessory),roof antenna( 400). And the left osrvm costs me 440 at another outlet of same dealer and the main dealer quoted 750!!(again cheating) Till now no major setbacks...only a mist formation on front glass on ac in any position. This week i am going for first service and waiting to take up an issue with the dealer(again cheating)...details will let u know later. hope my first review was ok for a beginner byeprice,looks,comfortno rear parcel tray,and rest too early to comment

I have purchased a new Chevrolet Spark LS last month (July 2009). It’s a car looks very small from outside and surprisingly big in interior space, especially leg room for both front and rear seat passengers. Seats are very much comfortable for average sized adults and the quality of the seat fabric feels good. Although the steering wheel in the area of looks, grip and feel, the center console, dashboard and the a pillar contribute to a feel of a big car for the passengers. The centrally mounted instrument panel is very comfortable and does not makes any discomfort for me. It also has a large boot space comparable to all cars in this segment. I am glad to own car like Chevrolet Spark. Its cosy and very safe car to drive within city roads.

Exterior I bought this really wonderful car in june09.WOW what a car.The first thing that attracted me towards this car is its great looks.I initially thought of buying an alto but my daughter insisted that i try other makes also Thats when i came across SPARK  i really appreciate GM for giving many good features like power steering , tubeless tyres for such cheap price.

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interior is really cool with full beige upholstery but the dashboard is a bit dull  But the car is a compact five seater and really suits my family of four It is a great city car, fun to drive around.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The engine is impressive and smooth but the gear box is slightly sluggish. it gives the best mileage in city with full time ac on.

 

Final Words My family loves spark i also strongly recomend spark for all those seeking to buy their first car. Because of its small size parking in the city is no problem it also offers many free services and hence maintenence is no problem.

 

Areas of improvement The dashboard can be accesorised well and the gear can be improved. For all those owning a spark HAPPY DRIVING :-).

We just bought a Spark 25 days ago, and it's a beast. Though it's been driven only 150-200 kms till date and no trip > 20km was made, it's current performance has given a fairly good idea of what's it gonna be in the future. Thanks to recession, I got it for 3,21,000 [Insurance + Registration included]

Highlights

1. A powerful and ultra-smooth engine. For those who're crying about the lack of valves, don't go by the specs, feel it run.

2. A highly efficient cabin when it comes to sound-proofing. If you've rolled your windows fully, you can't be sure if the engine is running or not.

3. A nice AC.

4. Little features and pockets at every place. More than what you could wish for.

5. Best machine in it's range. Estilo equivalent model i.e. LXi is expensive by about Rs. 20,000. Slightly more expensive than Alto but gives additional displacement of 202 cc [Alto-796cc, Spark - 998cc]

6. Watery steering. Doesn't require any effort to turn.

7. Excellent feeling while driving. Zen[older model], Alto, 800 feel like toys but this one actually feels like a machine.

8. A little low mileage. Though it might be because it's new and hasn't been tested on long trips.

9. The worst thing is that it's so lovely that you can't bear to see a speck of dust on it. You keep running around it with a bucket of water and towel.

Again it hasn't been tested on long trips, and long time, these are only short time observations. But if these do remain, it's a best buy, esp. now, when we got a discount of about 45,000 due to recession.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort): The car is spacious interiors than we expect from outside view.  The rear seat passenger will have enough leg space.  The car is ideal for who suffer from back ache and spinal problems.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox:  The spark's S-tech engine offers a good power with silent operation.  It highly powerful and doesnot feel underpowered when you switch on AC. Well designed engine packed with enough power

 

Ride Quality & Handling: The car is agile when in the city traffic.  You feel its agility when U are parking the vehicle in a slot or driving though the bussy traffic.   

Final Words

Valuable for Money.  You can not expect more for this price.

Areas of improvement  

The reflection of the dash board on the windscreen creates ghost images. It affects the visibility.

The service of dealers should be improved.  GM never responds to any emails addressed to them.  GM has to build a strong relation with its customers directly bypassing the dealers.  Then only the pulse of the customers reach the manufacturer

I purchased Chevy Spark LT on May 2nd ‘2011. Have already driven it for 150 KM. I will also post my feedback once I complete 1000KM later. My current experience is as below:

 

Before delivery experience

1. In 4-4.25 lacs budget I was looking for a car which will provide me good performance, mileage & decent features (if not the best). Some mid models of Wagon R, A Star & i10 were in my original preview. However I later decided for Chvey Spark top model which not just offered me excellent features, but also gave good mileage, low maintenance cost etc at that too at a lower price as compared to other manufacturers.

2. In order to ensure that I got the best deal I interacted with 3-4 Checy dealers in Mumbai, bargained hard & got an amazing quote through GIAN motors in Sion. My experience with them was far superior as compared to any other Chevy dealer both in terms of cust serivce & competitive pricing.

 

Exterior Both the front and back are very well designed. Side mirrors are no longer body colored. Also, wiper on the rear mirror has also been discontinued since a month or so. Websites are not updated with this information. 60/40 rear seat split is also no longer available. All this was a setback but a deterrent to buy another car.

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

Features: The front dashboard panel is well made. Music system is fitted well in it and overall it has a good finish. Bage interiors give a aesthetic look. It took me time to understand the digital meter in the dashboard. Not all information comes in the display &  at one go. You need to do a few clicks to change the display options.

Space: Good space. 3 people can sit comfortable in back seats.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox For 150 KM run with AC, I got approx 15K mileage (50 - 50 split highway & city). This was as per expectations. Shifting to reverse gear is not smooth always (have read this in other reviews as well). However I think this is more to do with getting used to with the car rather than a product issue.

 

Ride Quality & Handling I have not driven on greater than 80 KM speeds since the car is new but my experience in 150 KM run is highly satisfactory.

 

Final Words Very good car for the price range, powerful ac even on 1st level. Rather than spending more on the models I mentioned above, go for this car. 3 years free service warranty also lead to my decision to buy this car. Be sure about the features mentioned in the website. Not all is currently offered. It may be the reason for your switch to some other car. Choose the correct dealer. If you bargain hard you will also get CPCO (spar parts warranty for 3 years) free and good cash discount. Go for GIAN motors if you are in Mumbai.

 

Areas of improvement Reverse gear shifting. Basic products/features like rear parcel tray, body color mirrors etc don't come by default (not sure how much chevy will save by not providing all this).

Exterior The Exteriors of the car is pretty good, strong and I have no complaints about it.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) I think the car is offered with decent features; however, the space in the car is not up to the mark. The comfort level of the car is of Top quality with respect to any 1000cc car.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Perfect Engine, The car is over 41000 Kms old, the sound of the engine is as good as day one. When you sit in it (at idling speed) you cannot make out whether the car is on or off. I have no complaints about Fuel Economy as it gives me 16+ KMPL (AC on and off) in city traffic conditions and on the highway it gives more than 19 KMPL (AC on and off). The car was driven for over 1400 Kms during the first week of October 2011 and there is no sign of giving up on the part of the engine or mileage. Regarding the gear box, I'm not a mechanical engineer to comment on it. But, as a layman, I can tell that the car has precise gear shifts and no vibration from the Gear Nob even at speeds above 110 KMPH. However, I felt vibrations from the steering wheel when driven above 120 KMPH.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride Quality of the car is perfect, on the highway there were many places that had uneven patchwork, potholes, ditches, huge speed breakers, suspension breaking roads for a stretch of more than 70 kms at a time. The car handled all of that without causing difficulty to the passengers who were onboard. The handling of the car is par beyond excellence for a 1000cc car. In city, when I have to reach office and I'm in a situation where I have to race against time, I usually drive rough and change lanes in parallel manner and turn at high speeds. Honestly, I tell you this car never let me down in handling at slow or speeds at 60-70 Kms in city driving. The car behaves the way I want it to behave.

Final Words I usually do not market a product unless someone pays me for it. Nevertheless, after coming back from a Highway trip, that included the NH along the Eastern Coastal region and the terrible bypass and village roads of India. I must say that this car is a 'GEM' and the Best among the small hatchbacks. The car has given me more than 19 KMPL for a trip of over 1400 KMS within 4 days. As mentioned earlier, the odometer has clocked over 41000 KMS, it shows no sign of fatigue and the car is still Eveready for more long trips. 

I recommend this car for anyone who wishes to travel with 3 (Healthy) people, 3 cabin approved suitcases and 3-4 backpacks for very long trips, small families and people who wish to enjoy a quick, precise ride in city driving conditions. I also feel that GM India has got it right and they are making cars with international quality for the Indian market. GM cars are the cars to buy. I don’t mind buying another GM car in the future. 

Areas of improvement The important area for Improvement is 'space', I feel GM should take note of it and do something about it. I'm a healthy person; hence, space has to improve. Also, I suggest the petrol engine should be replaced with a diesel engine of Chevrolet Beat.

Excellent Fuel Economy and Performance for a 1000 cc car.Space

I have bough my spark in 2010. I have driven it for around 15000kms. When I bought the car, I made a thorough research about the car on internet. I didn't miss any single review about it. So I am surprised or shocked by the performance of the car after I started using. I knew the pros and cons of the car. I have summarised my views about the car below. My advise to people who consider buying this car, please remember that you are going to pay aroung 4lakhs for the car. So dont compare it with  a car which cost more that this proce. Even santro is costlier than spark. For this price this is undoubtedly the best car. Ofcourse there few cons for this car, but every car have got its own cons and we need to take a balanced decision considering both the good and bad aspects.

Power - you wont feel inferior when you drive this in highway which you will feel on alto

Good looks- I like the smart look of the car which is better than alto and santro

Space - The space inside the car is not great but it is suffieicient, little less than santro though

Trouble free - This car doesnt stop in the middle of a journet expect tyre puncture or petrol empty.

Built quality - All the reviews about this car have confirmed that this is the best built car among its rivals. Reliable engine - Nice engine which was proven on matiz

CONS

Mileage - not very bad, but only average, Service centres- lesser than maruti ann hyndai

AC- it is ok but not upto the mark, So friends you like the car after lokking at it, then take a test drive, consider other cars in its segment and make a decision.
