Chevrolet Magnum road behaviour

 

Exterior I liked the shape of the car ,and the beauty lies in the eyes of beholder. Even then we can say it gives an impression of a premium car immediately but it gives a feeling that the car is very delicate and  not a robust or a strong one like that of Linea for example.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors are plush and gives you a feeling that you almost sat in Merc Benz.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is simply wonderful only at high rpm. At lower rpm if you engage into a higher gear for example at 40 kmph in 5th fear ,the engine knocks audibly. There is for sure , you have a turbo lag in the city drive. It is only a good highway car. Gear shift quality is not that great,and miles below Honda City or even Fiat Linea.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is very poor. Rear seated passenger would start wobling left to right ,side ways even at city speeds. They would need to catch on to the handle above the window, to stay steady. Suspension is very soft, body roll is very high, A/C vents give audible sound. Cilmate controls work is not that good. Taking "U" turns is not difficult at all,though car is big. According to reports ,it costs a bomb for small repairs.

Final Words I had almost taken the car but after a test drive on necklace road ,Hyderabad , my daughter and wife both complained of body roll and due to this, headache or vomiting sensation. I made several rounds for about 45 minutes on this road and finally I rejected the car.  There is a good response to customers by sales people , they brought the car to our home, for a test drive. After sales manager (a lady) asked me about my impression and the reasons for not buying their product. I told her that there was high body roll and I would not buy it.

Areas of improvement The engineers for this car must tighten the suspension, arrest the body roll and take care of A/C functioning. Also if they reduce the price by Rs.1 lakh sales may immediately improve. At present I think, they are successful with Cruze.
