I own the Optra 1.6 NY edition for the last 4 years. When I set out to but a car this "american" car wasn't in my short list. Due to circumstances I ended up taking a test drive of the iconic Chevy and immediately wrote out a cheque. Have never regretted the decision since. The styling of the car is a head turner even after so many years. The engine is refined and barely audible while the gearbox is smooth. I have had no problems with the car until now and the only time it had to go to the Garage was for its annual servicing. And another time when I had to replace my stolen rear view mirrors. So I would say its a solidly built vehicle with low maintenance costs. I taken long drives (1000kms - 2500 kms) sometimes on bad roads without any complaints from the vehicles.
It has great suspension and so enjoy cushy rides in the city.
It returned good fuel efficiency numbers in Delhi where I drove mostly in the higher gears but that took a beating in Bangalore's snail paced traffic.
The low-slung look adds to the appeal of the car but the low ground clearence could be a problem in Indian cities with poorly designed speed breakers.
On the whole I would say its been a great experience and changed my whole outlook towards GM cars. Wife loves it and doesnt want to change it.
Great Buy, highly recommended.Smooth engine, Solid build, low maintenance, Awesome style, Spacious interiors, large bootlow ground clearence
