I was looking to buy my first car and did extensive research on the available hatchbacks. I narrowed it doen to the getz, i10 and u-va. The U-va has always impressed me with its looks and trumped the other cars in the test drive. Swift was not an option for me as I'm 6'2' and its very cramped within.
Finally got delivery of the U-VA Cashmere colour about 17 days back. I've driven about 300 kms and here are my thoughts:
Solid build quality - one feels reassured while in it as opposed to the 'tinny' feel of the hyundai's and marutis
Space - Ample space for 5 large adults; good use of cubby holes and storage compartments; boot is decent and not huge
Performance - Great maneouverability and the steering and gear shifts are very responsive. Once can drive in 3rd till 20kmph and on 2nd till almost standstill - great for city traffic - less gear changes required. The AC cools really quickly but it does have a subtle impact on the power. I've read a lot of reviews that say the u-va is low on power - I think its more than adequate for a city car. It may not be as peppy as the swift/i10 but it doesn't hamper driveability in any way. The car handles itself on the road beautifully. Excellent suspension - can hardly feel the bumps/holes in the road and extremely silent within the car. The steering is intuitive and the gear shift is smotth (unlike many reviews i've read). Fuel economy is supposed to be around 14kmpl, I can see mine giving 10-11(with AC), but its supposed to improve after the first service.
I have no hesitation in recommending this car to anyone. It does elicit a lot of wow! looks on the road as there aren't so many around. Overall, great value for money. For 5 lacs got the LS variant + music system+ insurance free+remote locking security system.
My U-VA has totally met my expectations. Don't hesitate/ dither if you like this car, go get it. GO U-VA!!!
