Chevrolet Aveo U-VA [2006-2012] User Reviews

I recently purchased this car and have driven around 700-odd kms in it, including a trip to Kashid. The trip to Kashid (around 150 kms from mumbai) costs me just Rs. 1000/- as the vehicle gave me a mileage of 15. In the city though, the current mileage is low around 8 kms/ltr... but I expect that to increase gradually as I drive more.

All through life, I have only driven Maruti 800s and Zen's... so in terms of comfort, I find this car really spacious...both seating as well as leg room. The boot space is adequate ( i comfortably fiited in 6 small bags during the trip to Kashid)... The engine is noiseless.

Overall, I am pretty happy to own this GM prduct.

I'm in the process of finalising the first car for me. Certainly the smallest of the small ones are not there in my radar. I've shortlisted Swift, Getz, U-VA & Palio Style (My dream car of course). Today just completed the TD of U-VA after TDing Getz, i20 & Swift some time back. Am waiting for a car from Fiat Dealer. My vote is for U-VA so far provided Palio doesn't impress me. The car was handling like driving a knife in to butter. The space was the USP. The stability at speeds above 100 kmph doesn't have any competition (at least in this segment). Though the car was struggling to break the 100 kph with AC ON & 3 people occupying.

On the downside GM may consider working on the Torque characteristics of the engine though power is reasonably good for the engine size (at par with KAPPA in the i20). Similarly they should redo there pricing to literally tear the swift in to pieces (remember the premium swift is carrying in the used car markets across the country).

Exterior Looks very decent...not too flashy or awkwardly shaped!

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Space is the USP. My friends who collectively own almost all hatchbacks in the market, rate my uva as the best for (3 adults) rear passenger experience. The dashboard is much more stylish than other hatches like swift and gives a sedan like feel to the driver. For audiophiles, one problem is that the front speaker compartment cannot take more than 5.x speakers.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Overall good, not as powerful as some of the other premium hatches, but more than adequate, unless one plans to enter a rally.

Ride Quality & Handling Handling is a big plus, drives very smooth, overall very reassuring road presence for the driver.

Final Words Given another chance, will still go for a u-va for the features it offers and at the price it does. Highly recommended.

Areas of improvement The instrument panel could have much better lighted, the performance dips bu a significant margin with AC on.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) very spacious but boot space is less in its class.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Sluggish pickup for a petrol vehicle and even a swift diesel has better pickup, as for mileage u will feel u r driving a SUV gear transmission is very hard.

 

Ride Quality & Handling very loud road noise, lots of vibration, sounds like u r in a diesel vehicle.

 

Final Words Its got poor service, before I bought it (dynamics motors chandigarh) I was promise 3 years free maint and once purchase I was told the finer pts that its only for spark. padam motors bhatinda provides very poor service. The agency fails to address the problems to my satisfaction but it appears they just want to tick the task as carried out. the power window malfunctioned in the second month but the agency failed to rectify it. Lots of better alternatives available in the same price range and class.

 

Areas of improvement First of all service is the most important which is quite lacking to my experience.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Average Engine performance, feel the lack of power on hilly drive but adequate for plains drive. Fuel economy is good. i get 12 to 13 KPL in city with AC and about 17 on highway with AC. Gearbox is a bit  of cause of concern, specially reverse gear.

 

Ride Quality & Handling That is a great plus with this car. Car got a very good suspension. Very comfortable on bad roads. handling is again very good.

 

Final Words I was smitten by its looks and ride quality when i bought this car. i purchased this car in April 2007 and driven about 40,000 kms. Driven on all sorts of roads. No major problems till date. After sales service has been excellent. A great buy for those who want a beautiful comfortable and spacious car for 4.5 lakhs. Go for it if you are narrowed down to Getz prime, Swift patrol, Hundai i 10 and UVA.

 

Areas of improvement A diesel version could be a great package. 14 inch tyres could be another improvement.

 

Good looks, Space, Suspension,power, Fueleconomy

 

I bought this car in the last year in Patna from Pandey Motors, the only dealer for Bihar.

Exterior is good but it may be improved, but I think due to average selling of this car Chevrolet is not intrested for any modification. The most bad thing in this car is the windshield (front glass) it is much slant that create problem during driving especially in night.

Interior is very good and this is the main attraction of the car, it looks spacious and also comfortable for long drive.

Engine performance is good, but fuel economy not considered during making of this car. It was said by the dealer that the milage of the car will be around 12-14 Km with AC, but I never got it, my 2006 esteem has better milage than it. Gearbox is ok, during 1 year I never faced any problem. It is very comfortable, but as Chevrolet claims its ground clearence is maximum for this segment, but its bumper sometimes collide with breakers if you are in speed.

Chevrolet has to improve its Service area because it is very poor and needs lots of improvement. Please improve the windshield if you can and improve the milage.

 The designing could have been much better in the exterior parts. Only the fog lamp looks good in the xterior part. There could hav been some good colour options too.

 It has good cool grey interiors, with lots of space around.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

 It has very good pickup, and can generate lots of power quickly. Its fuel economy is from 9-12km/litre, tats good for a high speed driving.

Ride Quality & Handling

 I drived it in a speed of 160km and had a very good control over the steering. Its braking is the best in its class. The steering tilt up to the bottom gives u a lot of comfort while driving. On fast driving one can feel tat they are in a luxury sedan. That is the quality of the car.

Final Words

 Great car in its class. It is unique in its own ways.

Areas of improvement  

 Exteriors designing can be better. Could also have a better marketing strategy.

I have bought this car 6-7 month back.Very good car and I am satisfied with the car but was really pissed off with the dealer's(showroom) ld back attitude during my purchase time. I really don't like to visit Shiva Motor Noida in future.But service center is so far good and am satisfied.

 

Exterior Although the style is considered a bit old compare to todays new hatch models but I like the exterior a lot, It looks very elegant to me.Specially its head lamp and the classy style attached to it(the grill type side lamp in the head light I dunno what it is said).

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Lotz of space and confort.Features are also okay with the same price tag.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Not impressive.Could have been much better.I am sure there won't be any SOHC engine in new AVEO hatch and also they will make a change in there gearbox design.

 

Ride Quality & Handling Superb.Good rear and front suspension.Very much stable while running at 120Km/h.

 

Final Words Good hatch back and value for money.This car is for them who prefers riding quality, interior and space more than mileage and pickup.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance is OK, Sluggish at times. I am a city + highway driver with full time  A/c On and am getting an overall mileage of 13+.

 

Ride Quality & Handling Good ride quality and manouvering is very easy. Good car for long drives (I had driven the car from Mumbai to Bangalore 1025 Km in a stretch of 15 Hrs) with a Max comfortable speed of 120 Kmph (Though I had driven the car at 145 Kmph speed, i would say max comfortable speed is 120Kmph).

 

Final Words Good car with a mileage of about 13-14 kmpl (with a/c). A/c is very powerful. Good legspace both in front and rear. Cabin is bit noisy with a humming sound of the engine. I recommend this car for buyers who look for effortless long journeys and driving pleasure, but i would not recommend this for people who are on the look out for mileage and city driving. The after sales service is quite good and the maintenance cost is very less.
