Can't imagine how someone can write a positive review on this car...GM must have paid those guys... I've driven cars ranging from Maruti 800 to Honda City, trust me this is the worst car ever. The reasons are endless. To enlist: a)Poor drive quality- Steering is too heavy, absolutely rubbish pick up(even my driver rejected the car) b) Air conditioner: Trips all the time..When asked the service guys they say its the positive feature of this car and that The AC shall trip and the power shall get transfered to the engine whenever you need more power. According to them it saves fuel and gives more power to the engine when needed. According to me the worst piece of reasoning ever heard...The moment to shift gears and press the accelerator, the AC trips...What kind of feature is this...remarkable c) Blind spot: The front pillars are so broad and the placing is bad..You just can't feel comfortable driving it...Atleast 7-8 times I've avoided an accident when I wasn't able to spot a vehicle coming across from right side because of this huge pillar. d) Fuel economy: The dealers might claim 12...But trust me I never got it beyond 9-10. real expensive.. e) Service: the service guys are courteous but not able to help the cause...I've taken my vehicle to them for same set of problems atleast 3 times but I am still awaiting the problem to be rectified...They always seem to acknowledge the problem but end of the day they merely service the car, cut a sorry face and ask me to bring the car again to rectify the problem... ridiculous. I can go on with the list...Its endless.. The only positive point...Good looks and good back seat comfort in winters (remember AC never works) Its my sincere advice do not go for this car...The reason I am writing this review in middle of my working day is to save prospective buyers of this car from misery...You can see I am totally frustrated with this car and I don't want the prospective buyers to go through the same misery.. Thanks...Only styling and comfort at back seatList is too big...Absolutely pathetic driving comfort, Low fuel economy, high cost of spares, etc etc

If 220 litres of boot space is OK for you and if the price of the car is within your budget then one can definitely go for this car. Power is sufficient on highway aswell for speeds upto 100-120 kmph. I'm sure its not safe to drive beyond this in India though its fun. The wheel base is 2480mm which is comparable with most of the big cars. It's excellent for City driving and not bad on the high too. Ride and handling is superb. Maruti swift and Hyundai getz aren't this spacious. Some don't like swift for its looks(bulged back) and space inside. If you like looks of swift and don't bother about space then Swift should be your choice else Aveo U-va is the right choice. I somehow don't like Korean brands and space is slightly less compared to uva hence Getz is ruled out.Good style and comfort of a big carSmall boot, Cost

      Hi All,

I have taken test drives of Getz,Swift,U-VA & i10,Aveo.Being 6 foot tall i found maximum Leg room,Cabin space and riding comfort in U-VA.Excellent suspension and control while driving.Great Looks.I am driving 80km daily.20 in city and 60 on highway.Till now U-VA-LS is giving me 14 kmp/litre.LS model is equipped with all the luxary you wanted e.g. front and rear power windows,Centre locking,Steering asdjustment,Day/night mirror,AC/Heater,Power steering,Both side mirros,Tube less tyres and being extra spacious is added advantage.

Inside i feel like driving a big car.U-VA & Aveo have same cabin space. So those going for Aveo can go with U-VA and save more than 1.3 Lakh (For family of four).A/C is superb. It feels like chilling at first level itelf.Mileage is OK around 14~13.5 with petrol. It drives like knife on butter on road.Extremly enjoyable and satisfying for drving pleasure.

      Now coming to Cons:

Engine power is less so not great pick-up like swift or i10.Stronger A/C makes engine little less efficent.Mp3 player is not avialble with LS Models so that is extra cost.Resale value may not be great.

      My Suggestion:

Those needing Ride quality,Space and Comfort and value for money can go for it.

Those who needs excellent milegae and great Pic-up or good engine performance may be little disappointed.

      That's all from my side.

Comments are welcome for any query suggestion..

      Thanks,

      BR

      Tejinder

I bought this car a month back and have driven almost 900 KM. Yet to go in for first service.

      Following are the Pros

      1. Looks stylish and contemporary.

      2. Good Front and Rear Leg Space. Feel like ur in a big car.

      3. Fuel economy around 12 kmpl with AC in city and 15 kmpl with AC on highways.

      4. Very smooth engine ( sometimes at signals i press on gas to confirm whether the engine is on).

      Cons

      1. Slips while applying Reverse gear.

      2. Less initial power.

      3. Around 20 - 25K ruprees more when compared to compitetors( Swift and Getz) or may be they could have added some more fittings (MP3 player, etc.).

Overall i am satisfied with this car and its performace till date.

If planning to buy a Petrol car in this segment and budget, i would ask you to test this car and then decide.

Will keep posting as and when i find something useful and appropriate.

Good Looks, Huge Space, Decent Fuel Economy, Smooth DriveNotchy Reverse Gear, Low Initial Power

I have been hunting for a new battery for this care for the past more than a week. The battery is very unique as I understand - Exide DIN 50 R. It's not available even with Exide. When I called Sundaram Motors as usual they are clueless on what battery gets into this car. No other manufacturer battery can fit because the battery polarity + & - is reversed for this battery and hence the (R). I'm almost doing a research on car batteries and calling each battery dealer to check if they can help me with a battery to get my car running. Even Chennai's some of the largest battery dealers like Automark, Kavitha battery does not have a battery for this car.

Why should they make specifications when they cannot keep the car on the road for long time. I wish GM realises this in the interest of Indian customers.

Good exterior and interiors, comfortableHunting for battery. Exide DIN 50 R. Not available even in Exide.

The car is big, has an ugly grey interior but rides like a dream. The 1.2 engine is nice but not very friendly to racing away. The 1st gear is worthless above 5kmph & 2nd gear is worthless standing still. So in the stop-start traffic, the gears need a lot of work unless you want to listen to the engine wail in 1st gear while crawling.
However, it does have enough grunt to take the highways in 80-100kmph, beyond which the tyre noise is irritating. At 80-90 kmph, the engine doesn't make any sound.
The ride continues to be the best part of the car. The a/c is good but drains a lot of power, esp in lower gears. The blower is silent for the 1st two speeds & noisy after that. But I guess thats pretty standard and the 2nd speed is good enough.

All my friends/family/relatives who have sat in the car have loved the space inside. Its as big as any of the sedans out there from the inside & even with the driver seat pushed back completely, the rear leg-room is just about adequate.

The mileage in the initial period was a poor 8-8.5 kmpl with 50% a/c usage. Quite below my expectations. But it was also used only in mumbai's peak traffic or for short 2-km runs. So I'll give the new engine the benefit of the doubt.

Once they did the 1000km checkup & removed some sort of "speed-limit" i've taken it on the highway & done a few hundred kilometers. I've got around 12.5 kmpl with 70% ac usage with half in the city & half on the pune expressway. So I guess its not such a heavy drinker when given the freedom to rev.

      Verdict
I'll give the u-va 8/10 for my requirements. Its spacious, comfortable & reasonably economical. I'm not a rally driver & like to drive smoothly without an adrenaline rush. The car keeps me calm.

I bought the Chevy U-VA 7 months back and it has clocked over 10,000 kms.

I find it a very stylish car, the ride qualtiy is excellent with very less NVH levels inside and is quite a safe car. Throwing it through corners over 70 km/hr wont be a frightening experience. It is quite sturdy and safe to drive on highways as well. The A/C is top notch and cools the cabin instantly which is a big plus. The Mileage is pretty good at 15.5-16 on highways and 13-13.5 in city with A/C.

However, the gear shift is a real pain and takes quite a time getting used to. Infact, even now i face a problem while reversing wherein the gear sometimes refues to shift at all. The Interiors though good with mock carbon finish and grey could have been made better. However there are lot of cubby holes, two glove boxes which helps tucking in the odd knick-knacks. The 5th gear lacks grunt though and sometimes we need to shift to 4th to overtake rapidly on highways. The best speed for 5th gear in this car would be above 70 km/hr.

Overall, i am lot satisfied with this car and feel it is serious value for money   Style, Mileage, Ride Comfort, Powerful A/CGear Stick, lack of grunt in 5th gear, Interiors could have been better

I have been riding my new car for past two months. I had to chose this over Getz 1.1 mainly over pick up and exterior front look. I liked evrything of my car but as i am used to driving i feel pick up should have been still better but i am satisfied unless you are in hurry.. i felt everything was perfect except about the gear shift. The only thing which i dont like in my car now is the Gear shift which is bit notchy. Anyhow i am now forced to get use of it. Mileage as expected i am getting around 10 in harsh city traffic of banglaore. Dealer response and first service response also was good. Hope this was useful to new buyers..Finally i would say if your heart says this is the car you are looking, then go for it otherwise forget it :)Spacious, Drivers Comfort, Smooth ride, Good looksGear shift notchy ...

I bought her on 19.10.8 from Sumedha Motors,Gwalior,MP.She is intense black in colour, which gives her royal look.I test drive Swift,Indigo CS and Getz but none satisfied me.But when I drive UVA it was a LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT for my whole family. Before this I had maruti Zen,which I drive for four years.Acording to my wife view the back of Swift looks like big fatty lady bumb while my boss says that it looks like frog but as far as UVA is concerned it has now become our habbit that people keep on turning there head towrads her.She realy is a neighbours jeoulsy and owners pride.Interiors of car are very good and spacious.Verry attractive look, specialy from back.Gives feeling of big car.Needs more publicity through ads.

I was looking to buy my first car and did extensive research on the available hatchbacks. I narrowed it doen to the getz, i10 and u-va. The U-va has always impressed me with its looks and trumped the other cars in the test drive. Swift was not an option for me as I'm 6'2' and its very cramped within.

Finally got delivery of the U-VA Cashmere colour about 17 days back. I've driven about 300 kms and here are my thoughts:

Solid build quality - one feels reassured while in it as opposed to the 'tinny' feel of the hyundai's and marutis

Space - Ample space for 5 large adults; good use of cubby holes and storage compartments; boot is decent and not huge

Performance - Great maneouverability and the steering and gear shifts are very responsive. Once can drive in 3rd till 20kmph and on 2nd till almost standstill - great for city traffic - less gear changes required. The AC cools really quickly but it does have a subtle impact on the power. I've read a lot of reviews that say the u-va is low on power - I think its more than adequate for a city car. It may not be as peppy as the swift/i10 but it doesn't hamper driveability in any way. The car handles itself on the road beautifully. Excellent suspension - can hardly feel the bumps/holes in the road and extremely silent within the car. The steering is intuitive and the gear shift is smotth (unlike many reviews i've read). Fuel economy is supposed to be around 14kmpl, I can see mine giving 10-11(with AC), but its supposed to improve after the first service.

I have no hesitation in recommending this car to anyone. It does elicit a lot of wow! looks on the road as there aren't so many around. Overall, great value for money. For 5 lacs got the LS variant + music system+ insurance free+remote locking security system.

My U-VA has totally met my expectations. Don't hesitate/ dither if you like this car, go get it. GO U-VA!!!
