5.0 Exterior | 5.0 Comfort | 3.0 Performance |
3.0 Fuel Economy | 5.0 Value for Money |
Bought the car in October 2010 after two months of rigorous research, test drives and secondary research on websites. Wanted to buy a car at under 7 lacs. The contenders:-
Hyundai i20 - Almost bought it (the Petrol Sports version). Decided not to coz fell in love with the Aveo! Also, the AC is pathetic. Just doesn't work in the heat! The engine's just ain't capable enough to pull a car that size.
Ford Fiesta - Loved the drive! However, the interiors feel cheap, the exterior very basic, just not worth the money!
Ford Figo - Cheap feel all over it!
Hyundai Accent - All time favourite. But the interiors are too basic. However, definitely a great value for money vehicle
VW Polo - Waiting period of more than 4 months. Else, a fantastic hatch.
VW Vento - Would've picked it up if it came a lac cheaper.
Fiat Linea - Won hands down in the looks department. However, too slow to maneuver round the city and the T-Jet was way beyond my budget
Maruti SX4 - Looks bulky and ugly at the same time, cheap plastics, bad ride quality... screams Maruti all over
Did not bother to check out the Verna, Manza, Logan, Dezire coz I don't like the way they look and the City/Jazz coz they are way too expensive for their respective segment.
Exterior This is where the car scores way above the competition. Every contour, every line of the car has been finished with a distinct finesse.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Two thumbs up for the interiors. Claasy and one segment above is the way I would describe the interiors. Pure leather seats, chrome inserts, beautifully finished dash, quality of plastics everything sets this car apart.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Well, this is where the car is a bit of a letdown. The engine does not exude enough confidence at lower RPMs. However, once you cross the 2000 RPM mark, there is no looking back. The car has enough muscle to do what you intend it to do and if driven well, can give a run for money to the likes of Fiesta as well. However, you always feel a couple of horses missing somewhere!
Ride Quality & Handling Handling, though a little hard, is very precise. The hydraulic steering system screams control and confidence at high speeds. Have driven it at a max of 140kmph and it has always been a pleasant experience.
Final Words If you're looking at car that takes you from point A to B in style and does not burn a hole in your pocket, look no further than Aveooooooh!
Areas of improvement Power at low rpms, dashboard reflection, audio control on steering, only one airbag.
Mesmerizing Exteriors, Awesome interiors, Ride qualityNot for speed freaks
