I bought an Aveo LT 1.4 (Velvet Red colour) on October 13, 2010.
I had done extensive research before I settled on the Aveo. Other cars in my shortlist were Fiat Linea (Dynamic), Hyundai Verna Transform, Ford Fiesta (Limited Edition) and SX4 (Vxi). I finally chose the Aveo LT since at this price it offers the best deal. I paid 6.9 lacs (on road). At 6.9 lacs on road, no car in my shortlist offered the following combination: Airbag+CD/MP3 player with 6 speakers+Leather interiors with wood panelling+Keyless entry+Electric door mirrors+Alloy wheels+Tilt steering+Height adjustable drivers seat. Only the Aveo LT gave all this and more.
I have driven about 1100 km so far. The car is very smooth and the ride is comfortable. The sound insulation inside the cabin is superb. Handling is good and fit and finish is also superior to most in the same category. Only flipside is fuel economy. I am getting about 8.5 kmpl with AC in the city. I am told that this will increase to 9/10 after first service but I doubt it. But I must mention here that my friends who have Fiesta or SX4 also get around 8 kmpl in the city. Only Linea gives around 10 kmpl.
I feel GM India underrate such a great offer. There is no publicity, no advertising that happens of the Aveo. Ads of Linea, Fiesta, Verna etc are always seen in magazines or TV. But the Aveo is conspicuous in its absence. Which makes the Aveo look like a loser in comparison to its competitors.
Trust me, the value for money is incredible for the Aveo LT. No car offers this kind of features at this price.
Looks, interior space, fully loadedaverage fuel economy, slightly notchy gear shift
