        • A Cheap BMW
Exterior Looks are decent. With the extended bonnet, driving becomes difficult, for new drivers who are not accustomed to extended bonnets. Wheel arches looks proper. Overall the exterior is befitting a BMW. Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Seats are leather and electronically adjustable. Dashboard is workable and ergonomics are just almost right. No frills except the BMW sound system, console and gear stalk which has P, R, N, D, and Drive Sport. Numbers on the dials are clear and give you information in a display of yello and orange and red colors. Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance is fantastic. Although it comes with a standard 2.0 litre engine churning out close to 180+ horsepower, the initial pull-off is a bit sluggish. 0-100 takes close to 7 seconds and the Drive Sport takes it to 190 kmph plus on the highways. Gearbox is smooth, however i faced problems with the Park function initially as the vehicle moved forwards and backwards a bit even in Park mode. Fuel economy for the X1 could be the deal-breaker. For highways it was close to 9 kmpl and city came close to 7 to 8 kmpl at maximum. Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is excellent, only if the roads are excellent, otherwise the suspension is a bit on the hard side. I do not know why BMW did not think of making the suspension a bit softer given the fact buyers absolutely want the vehicle for travelling purposes and not motorsport. Handling is a bit hard for new buyers who have just switched from a power steering to a hydraulic steering system. On the brighter side, the hydraulic steering make sure you keep your wheel steady at high speed, albeit the traction control on. Final Words The X1 is good, but with that kind of money (close to 40 lakhs) you can actually have many different options like the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero, Chevrolet Captiva, Trailblazer etc. All of which give you the same or better features at a lower cost. Areas of improvement Areas of improvement are many, but not really befitting a BMW badged vehicle. Needless to say, it can be better in terms of ride quality, after sales service, options and fire salesman from BMW workshops who pitch you products that you do not need, every time. One more thing, even if you do buy it, DO NOT LOSE THE KEY. A new key will have to be shipped over from Germany whcih will take ages.  Good luck. The BMW badgeThe BMW badge

        • Not Big Not small..its fun to drive on highways.
Exterior  awsome..a perfect blend of SUV, Vagon and Sedan. good to see from front. its big bonnet will catch your heart..Even the Cheaper CE variant gets electrically adjustable front seats, the Driver seat gets 2 memories which can also be set to the car keys.  I find the seats a bit too soft for my taste, the shape and size of seats is all great. Rear seats too are well set up, it is not too upright, the headrest is softer than other cars which feels like pillow Being higher set than than an average sedan it’s easier to get in and get out. Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) only one world simple. no cosmetic plastic work. its good to see BMW bonnet badge from diving seat. Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox  177 BHP powerfull diesel engine. i m already achive 205 km / hr top speed on mumbai pune express highway. its a plessure experiance with brakes.   Ride Quality & Handling  BMW done all for safety. its a safe car to drive on highways. not like.. others .. Final Words  go for this....l Areas of improvement      Badge value with good fuel economy.Legendary BMW Handling and Fun to Drive factor.heavy steering on parking speed, Not an actual crossover it's perceived to be, it's just a Station-W

        • The New X1 Innovation - Go for it!
Exterior The design is very cool and trendy. Clean lines (you cannot take your eye off the BIG bonnet in comparison to ANY car/suv) and a dramatic change at the back with some neat cuts. The kidney bean grill is a tad bigger than the 3 Series. The lights are neatly designed, very BMW, smart fog lamps, classy sun roof and finally the height of the car - definitely smaller in comparison to the X3 and other SUV's but the large wheel base gives it the height you may be looking for.(the feeling of a SUV when you sit inside). But when did BMW ever claim it to be a SUV, they call it a compact SAV. If you want a hatchback instead of a sedan, for more space, its worth the try. Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)  The iDrive not only gives the dash a trendy look but is also a very useful devise to navigate your way with the features. It would have been completely worthwhile if India supported the navigation system. Lacks some of the automatic sensors, the cruise control and hill assist (if i were to compare features for the cost u pay. you get all of these in other brands for lesser cost). Its definitely a 4 people car and the fifth should be a kid. But very comfortable knee room and head room in both rows (i am 6ft tall and can easily walk in and walk out unlike crawling into bucket seats). The second row seats fall flat (not 180 degree though) and give u the space u want to bundle your dog (i have a St Bernard) or for more luggage Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox This is where the BMW quality kicks in. At 2000 RPM, the surge is surreal. You can enjoy the power on long stretches and even for that little push to over take in city traffic. The sports mode could have been better, lacks a wee bit in the turbo u would expect in DS mode. But you can live with it. The AC is powerful and does not disturb the engine power. . The gear box is responsive and the economy is purely based on your usage. It can change with every day    Ride Quality & Handling The experience of the rise is what you buy this little toy for. Good suspensions, body roll is minimal unless its a terribly bad road. Fantastic (and surprises you) on the curves. Fairly noisy engine on the outside but very quiet in the cabin. Its difficult to believe you are driving a diesel car.  Final Words No automobile will provide you with everything you want. I was scouting for a SUV, a mean machine but ended with this toy. Like many of the new breed of SUVs, this is not for off roading. Why did i end up with it? Apart from being a good machine: The brand (the BMW badge can kill the Hyundais, Toyotas, Fords, Skodas of the world in perception), brand values, fits my requirements of space and power, easy to drive in congested traffic, definitely gets the look, and provides a sense of pride Areas of improvement   You may not use all the features all the while but the X1 could provide you with some extra features (a chiller box for example) definitely.  Looks good, feels like a SUV when inside and a smart operatorCould have had more features
