Audi Q5

Technology 45 TFSI : The Q5 is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 261bhp and 370Nm of torque. It is paired with a seven-speed, S-Tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission through Audi’s famous Quattro AWD system. There is no diesel engine on offer under the VW Group in India and the new Q5 is no exception.

The Q5 comes with multiple drive modes - Eco is for maximum efficiency, whereas Dynamic mode engages the full power that the engine can deliver. However, for most scenarios, the Q5 performs the best in Comfort mode. The drive modes in the Q5 alter the engine and steering response along with suspension characteristics.

Three USPs of the Audi Q5:

• One of the biggest USPs of a mid-size SUV like the Q5 is that the added height and ground clearance aid with easy ingress. Compared to a similarly priced luxury sedan, getting in and out of the Q5 is relatively easier. It isn’t too tall or too low and the door opening is also impressively wide.
• The Q5 scores high when it comes to space and comfort. The cabin is airy and there is more than enough room for four adults. The quality levels are also quite impressive and so is the overall tech.
• The powertrain on the Q5 is both refined and responsive. It produces a good amount of low-end torque for everyday driving and the mid-range and top-end are equally thrilling when the user wants to have some fun while driving.

• The Audi Q5 has a five-star safety rating in Euro NCAP crash tests. However, the results are based on the fact that the test car featured driving assistance systems such as lane keep assist, autonomous braking, and more.
• The India-spec car gets eight airbags, ABS, EBD, front and rear parking sensors, and speed warnings.

Positives:

• The Audi Q5 comes with a pleasing-looking interior. Compared to the previous generation, there are lesser buttons on the centre console, a floating design for the touchscreen atop the dashboard, and an all-digital driver’s display behind the steering wheel.
• The quality and fit finish are appropriate for the price.
• Space inside the Q5 is more than enough for a small family.
• The rear seats have a 40:20:40 split functionality and the centre seat backrest, which features an integrated armrest with cup holders, can be folded to gain access to the 550-litre boot space.

Negatives:

• The cabin design comes from older generation Audi cars and it isn’t the latest layout that the A6 and the A8 get.
