Skoda is yet to reveal the latest iteration of the Rapid and will launch it for the Indian market on November 3. The car was recently snapped undisguised at a dealer yard in a new red exterior.
Like the other cars from the carmaker's line-up, the Rapid also gets new exterior design updates. These bring it in line with the looks of the current generation Octavia and Superb. The Rapid’s fascia now gets the brand's characteristic front moustache grille and redesigned headlamps, which are complemented by the neatly placed fog lamps. The revised Rapid's cabin also gets minor changes to the dashboard, upholstery and the infotainment system with Mirrorlink.
Mechanically speaking, the engine options for the updated Skoda Rapid will be carried over with some tweaks to the powertrains. This might include a retuned 1.6-litre petrol mill for better fuel efficiency. According to reports, the 1.5-litre diesel mill will also get a slight power increase, in addition to the increase in fuel economy. The five-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission option will continue to be offered.
It was back in 2011 when Skoda launched the Rapid for the first time in India. Ever since then, the sedan has not undergone a major makeover, but this time will benefit from the much-needed transformation. When launched, it will compete with the C-segment cars in India like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Volkswagen Vento.
