Skoda is planning to equip the automatic (AT) variants of the Rapid with 16-inch alloys and a reversing camera. Both the petrol and diesel AT top-end trims will get these features soon.
The updated features are expected to be seen in the top-of-the-line Style variants only. Apart from the upsizing of the alloy wheels, there is a change in their pattern as well. The new reverse camera will come paired to the existing touch screen infotainment system in the car. According to the prices received from select dealerships across India, these bolstered trims will now come with an added cost of Rs 35,000.
The automatic variants in question include the 1.6-litre MPI petrol mill mated to a six-speed tiptronic gearbox and the 1.5-litre TDI diesel motor mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission. There have been no added mechanical changes to the sedan since it received a mid-life facelift last year.
Skoda has neither officially announced the addition of these features, nor have they mentioned about it on their website. However, the brochure scans and prices received from dealers confirms the impending update. Reports also suggest that some units of the updated sedan have reached dealerships hinting at an imminent launch.
