Skoda India recently announced that the brand will unveil three new offerings this year – the Rapid Monte Carlo edition, Octavia RS and the Kodiaq. While there is still time for the RS and the Kodiaq to arrive in dealerships, the Rapid Monte Carlo edition is officially here. The C-segment sedan has been launched with ex-showroom prices ranging between Rs 10.75 lakh and Rs 13.57 lakh.
Available in two dual-colour options: red with black roof and white with black roof, the Monte Carlo is positioned at the top end of the Rapid range and features styling upgrades over the standard car. On the outside, you get black radiator grille, black mirror housings and a black tailgate spoiler to name a few. The car also features 16-inch alloys and Monte Carlo badges on each of the B-pillars.
Inside, the 3-spoke flat bottom steering wheel is covered in black perforated leather and red stitching. The gearstick also comes in black leather with red stitch lines. In line with the theme, the leather seats also feature a black/red design with grey vertical strips. Rounding off the updates, Skoda has fitted ribbed stainless steel pedals and graphics on the otherwise standard instrument cluster.
The Monte Carlo edition comes with the same set of petrol and diesel engines from the Rapid’s model range. The 1.5-litre TDI diesel produces 110bhp of power and 250Nm of torque whereas the 1.6-litre MPI petrol makes 105bhp and 153Nm of torque.
In terms of features, the top-spec Monte Carlo edition features ABS, daytime running lights, two airbags, parking sensors, a multifunctional display, rain sensing wipers, cooled glove box and a 6.5 inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
The base petrol powered Rapid Monte Carlo costs Rs 10.75 lakh while the top-spec automatic variant comes in at Rs 11.97 lakh. The diesel Rapid Monte Carlo, on the other hand, starts at Rs 12.46 lakh while the top-spec automatic is priced at Rs 13.57 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
