Back in 2015, Skoda first introduced the Rapid Monte Carlo edition in the international market. The vehicle was built to pay homage to the racing history of the Czech car maker. Although the manufacturer has declined to comment on its launch, it is believed that the Rapid Monte Carlo edition might be introduced over the next few months. Changes are expected to be limited to cosmetic detailing, while mechanically it will continue to be offered with existing engine options.
To begin with, the upcoming Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo edition will be available in a unique red shade. The new unique body colour will be complemented by black shaded grille, wing mirrors, 16-inch alloy wheels and a tailgate spoiler. As for the interior, the vehicle will get an all-black theme and faux-carbon fibre trim on the dashboard. The vehicle will get a flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel and unique floor mats. In order to distinguish it from a regular model, Skoda will be offering upholstery with red stitching on the gear knob and aluminium sport pedals.
Under the hood, the Rapid Monte Carlo edition might continue to be offered in petrol as well as diesel engine options. The diesel version will be the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine that generates 108bhp of power, while the petrol version will get a 1.6-litre MPI engine that generates 103bhp of power. The petrol variant is available with a five-speed manual and seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox option. The diesel version, on the other hand, gets a five-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmission option.
The Rapid Monte Carlo edition will be based on the current top-spec version. Although the pricing aspect is not known for now, we believe it might cost an additional Rs 30,000 – Rs 50,000 over the regular top-spec model.
