MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi tested a Ferrari Formula One car on the Mugello track yesterday. Rossi's best time was 1 minute 22.5 seconds - compared to Rubens Barrichello's track record of 1:18.704. Massa and Raikkonen have timed 1:21 at Mugello.
The session was cut short early due to a thunderstorm, although Rossi is slated for more testing Friday. "Analyzing the times I posted in Fiorano, here and in Valencia, we can say that with the right plan and a lot of dedication I could have become a good Formula One driver," Rossi said, according to the ANSA news agency.
Ferrari team director Stefano Domenicali was on hand, although Rossi is apparently no longer considering a full-time switch to Formula One. Rossi also tested with Ferrari in 2005 and 2006, after which he decided to stick with motorcycling. Ferrari offered him another opportunity to test as a gift for winning this year's MotoGP title.
