Maruti Suzuki India today signed an MOU with SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) India thereby becoming an active participant in the SAEIndia 2011 competition. This competition promotes young engineering talent and facilitates participants to conceive, design and fabricate an F-1 style sports car.
The competition will be a stage where 44 teams will be seen participating and competing with each other. Maruti Suzuki will be providing 800cc Mpfi engines to the students and they will create and test the cars at
the Madras Motorsport Club in July. BPCL will be taking care of fuel requirements while ARAI, Pune is sponsoring the Engineering and Design Award. The winning car will be displayed at the Asia Pacific Automotive Conference in October 2011 as well as the Auto Expo in 2012.
