Six years after Maruti Suzuki first introduced its hatchback Swift into the Indian car market, it is all set to bring in the all new Swift 2011 into the market. One will not get to see changes to the exterior of the car, but there will be definetly some suprises instored. The new Swift's wheelbase will be longer than the earlier one and will look sportier at the rear.
The new Swift will get the 1.2 K-series 1197cc petrol engine and the 1.3-litre multi-jet fiat diesel powertrain. Maruti is still selling around 12,000 swifts a month and the car still remains a favourite and the newer version of the car will only help them double this figure. The hatch might also get a 'Start/Stop' button and hence keyless ignition will be an added feature. With a 5-speed manual gearbox, the vehicle will be priced between 4-6 lakh. Come May this year, the Indian car industry will see a change and no second guesses that the change will be 'Swift'!
