A week after its national launch in the Indian market, the new GenX Nano has found its first set of buyers. In fact, Tata has just announced its first customer deliveries for 35 new cars in Pune.
Out of the 35 units of the GenX Nano delivered, 17 were manual gearbox versions while the rest were the top-end versions, equipped with the automated manual transmission (AMT).
The GenX Nano is a facelifted version of the original Nano that was sold in India. It is being offered in five variants of which three are manual are two are automatic. This new model gets cosmetic changes like redesigned front and rear bumpers, smoked headlamp clusters, tweaked air dams and spoiler at the back. Inside, the cabin gets a new three-spoke steering wheel and better quality inserts for the centre console.
The biggest highlight, however, is the openable boot lid. The earlier Nano did not have an openable boot but now it has been redesigned and there are 110-litres of usable space.
The GenX Nano is powered by the same 624cc twin-cylinder petrol motor that produces 38bhp of power and 51Nm of torque. This engine now comes paired to a five-speed AMT, while the other normal versions come mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Power is sent to the rear wheels. The AMT spec models have an ARAI efficiency of 21.9kmpl while the manual variants have a fuel efficiency of 23.6kmpl.
