A couple of months after showcasing it online for the first time, SsangYong has announced that it will stage the global launch of the Tivoli at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. The B-segment crossover model will eventually go on sale in Europe by the middle of 2015.
The Tivoli has been under development for the past three years and was previously seen in concept form with the project name X100. SsangYong has officially announced that 1.6 litre petrol and 1.6 litre diesel engine powered models will be on offer. These Euro 6 engines will be offered in both 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive configuration.
Post its global launch in Geneva, the petrol-powered Tivoli will go on sale in Europe and globally from May, and the diesel and 4-wheel drive derivatives will hit the showrooms starting July. The high demand for compact crossovers among Indian audience could mean the Tivoli could also be introduced in India in the next couple of years.
