Hyundai is preparing to launch a facelifted version of the Verna for the Indian market next month and ahead of its arrival our friends at PowerDrift have managed to get a few pictures of the car sans camouflage.
The new Verna is sold as the Solaris globally and was introduced at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show. Changes to this model include bigger headlamps, revamped chrome grille, a tweaked front bumper and new fog lamps. The shape of the tail lamps is the same as the old one but the internal elements have changed from the circular lamps on the inside. The other change that appears to be there at the back is the bumper with two new big reflectors and a new chrome slat over the registration plate slot.
We expect Hyundai to bring in some functional additions to the cabin though the interior layout is expected to continue from the current model. The feature list is also expected to include a new seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
This facelifted Verna will be powered by the same petrol and diesel engines as the current car. There are two petrol engines, a 105bhp 1.4-litre engine and a 121bhp 1.6-litre mill. Both engines are offered with a five-speed manual gearbox. The diesel range also includes two options- a 1.4-litre engine and a 1.6-litre engine that churn out 89bhp and 126bhp respectively. Both engines are paired to a six-speed manual.
Hyundai’s facelifted Verna will continue to go up against the Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Nissan Sunny, Skoda Rapid, Renault Scala and the Volkswagen Vento. The Verna is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 7.5 lakh to Rs 12 lakh.
