The sedan version of the popular Hyundai hatchback, the Grand i10 has been spotted again. Owing to the ‘Auto’ badge on the front fender, we can say that this one was equipped with an automatic gearbox. The car was spotted in Chennai, near Hyundai India’s manufacturing plant by Motor Vikatan reader, Mr. Chola.
The Grand i10 sedan is expected to share many of its components with the hatchback. Hence we can expect the four-speed Auto-box of the Grand i10 to be carried over to the sedan too, mated to the 1.2-litre Kappa engine that produces 81bhp and 114Nm of torque. The petrol will also have the option of a five-speed manual. The other engine option will include the diesel, a 1.4-litre unit from the i20 that produces 89bhp and 219Nm of torque synchronised to a six-speed manual gearbox.
The Grand i10 Sedan is expected to be unveiled on February 4, around the time of Auto Expo. Hyundai seems to want to cash in on the success of the sub-four-metre sedans. Introducing the Automatic gearbox will offer urban-users a lucrative option to rival the likes of Maruti Dzire and Honda Amaze, which are also available with Automatic variants. The sedan will bridge the gap between the Verna and the i20 in the Hyundai line-up.
