Maruti Suzuki will launch the WagonR Stingray for the Indian market at a function in Delhi tomorrow. It is a sportier version of the standard hatchback and has fitted with features that are a first in the segment. The car has already been spotted on multiple occasion and is most likely an attempt by the Indo-Japanese automaker to boost sales of its tallboy which has seen a decline numbers due to the economic downturn.
The front of the car has got the maximum number of changes with new bumper and large air dam, restyled fog lamp console, sleek front grille and refreshed headlamp cluster with projector unit (first in segment). The rear end of the Stingray has also been changed with slim clear lens lamps, boot spoiler and chrome inserts.
The overall design on the interiors is unchanged, but it is updated with newer colours and additional features. The Wagon R Stingray gets steering-mounted audio controls and the top-end variant should boast of two-airbags and ABS-EBD. The oily bits of the car will remain unchanged with 1.0-litre petrol engine doing the duty under the hood with same 69PS and 90Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox.
The price of the Wagon R Stingray is expected to be around Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 more than that of the standard car. Stay tuned to CarWale for more details of the car including prices, features, specs and variants live from the launch event in Delhi.
