We bought a TUV 300 a couple of months ago. Everything seemed fine for a week. Then started the problem.

To our surprise a brand new vehicle, just a month old broken down in the middle of out trip to coorg.

The problem was found to be electrical in nature. Unfortunately I might have as well given the vehicle to my 5 year old nephew

for the repairs. The engineers were dumbfounded and didnt know how to rectify the problem, the vehicle was with them

for 3 days, by some miracle the issue was corrected or so we thought cause after a week the vehicle broke down again this time

thankfully it was near our home. Once again the same electrical problem, this time it took 4 days for the miracle.

You can understand my dismay since this was a new vehicle I purchased with my hard earned money. Unfortunately mahindra does not care about that.

We asked for them to change our vehicle since it was defective at best....as you can imagine no reply.

All I can say is theres no diffence between mahindra and a fraud company since they took our money in full but gave us somethin defective and

broken, worst part is they have amateur engineers who cannot even figure out what is wrong with the vehicle.

My sincere advice **DO NOT BUY THIS VEHICLE, Theres a reason this vehicle is cheap compared to other compact SUVs**.

      Good style!Electrical issues, No accountability

What a performance by “Battle Tank” !!!!  Amazing !!! Worth for whatever I have paid for this SUV, a “Make in India” product I am proud of. After all I took three months to decide whether to go for Xylo or TUV for wanting more space to accommodate all family members!!!.

I bought my TUV 300 (100BHP) T8 on 2nd June 2016 which was delivered as promised. For the first 1000 km I drove on ECO mode as per the manual instructions so that I would not go beyond 70 Km/h speed. I maintained the speed till 1000 Km and after that I was thrilled to feel the amazing pulling power of this vehicle in non-ECO mode especially in the 3rd and 4th gear (above 1500rpm). I feel proud to drive this vehicle and proud at others giving the way to my vehicle while passing. The maneuverability of this vehicle is really good with good balance while driving at high speed (>100 Km/hr). The AC really produces chilling effect, driving comfort is good, suspension is awesome, ample leg space for 2nd row, wide tire for better road grip etc.

I am really happy with my  2 months old baby. What a look it has !!! A real battle tank when I drove off Western Ghats last week, out- performing other vehicles on the way while climbing up the hills. My vehicle was fully loaded with 4 adults, two kids and heavy luggage on back but still the vehicle never felt that and moved like carrying a bag of flowers!!! I could see other vehicles struggling at 1st or 2nd gear while climbing up but my vehicle pulling at 3rd and 4th gear without any drag. I am really delighted with the performance of this vehicle. Hat’s off to Mahindra & Mahindra team for giving one of the best SUVs at an affordable price range.

Exterior Initially when I saw TUV I was attracted to its aggressive design and wondered how Mahindra pulled this off! I purchased this beast in November and right from that date I have got scores of people coming to me n asking about this beauty. I was even stopped by traffic cops thrice in different locations just to ask about this new SUV. M sure most of the other owners also would have experienced this. This vehicle is attractive and people will look at it when u drive it around. U will feel proud when u drive it around n to see it standing n waiting for u in your parking. One tip - if ur buying this vehicle go for dark colours like red, blue or black as these draw the most attention bcos of the front design.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) I went twice for an out of the city drive from Mumbai with my family and it felt very comfortable during long drives. Driving comfort is good, you don't get tired even after a long drive. Cabin is roomy and you get fantastic view of the road. Though i feel the second row seat cushioning could have been better. Also there is no centre armrest even in the top end model. The static bending lamps are just fantastic option to have. At zig zag roads you get full visibility because of increased illumination.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox You get enough power for overtakings though i feel a little more power at the upper band would have been better. But still this engine will not leave you disappointed. Having driven a 1.3 litre multijet in Ritz for last 4 yrs I initially felt the engine under powered. But if you go soft on your right foot then you get the full power out of this beast. The dual turbo kicks in very early so if you floor the accelerator pedal you will miss the fun. Fuel economy is maximum 12 in the city and 15 on the highway.

Ride Quality & Handling You will never feel any small potholes or small rumblers. Shocks are soft and the travel is long hence you can confidently ride through any bad roads. Body is roll is there and is expected because of its height but nothing to complain. Braking is good and confident.

Final Words Mahindra has come out with a very product and good price point. If they improve the serive centre experience a little then they are here capture the hearts of the young generation.

Areas of improvement There should be some differentiation in the service centre for their bolero trucks n the TUV's n XUV's. Now you will see all these vehicles getting serviced in one service centre. The service handlers are used to the language spoken to the truck fleet owners and they lack the skill to speak with individual customers like me or even I think to premium product buyers like XUV!! I am wondering what experience they are going to give to the KUV owners since they are targeting the young crowd!!! Hope Mahindra takes care of this point.

Amazing style, really tough and good road presencePoor service experience at the service centres

I have bought TUV 300 T8 AMT (100 BHP) on Dec-2017. Writing this review carefully with 9 months experience in TUV and drove 15,000 Kms. Among 15K, have driven at least 6K kms in Hilly regions. Major Long Trips taken so far with TUV-300 AMT 1. Coimbatore - Allepey - Athirapalli - Valparai - Pollachi - Coimbatore 2. Coimbatore - Ooty (through Kuntha route - complete off road) - Mudumalai - Mannarkad - Anaikatti Coimbatore 3. Coimbatore - Munnar 4. Coimbatore - Shoranur - Guruvayur - Thirishur - palakad - Coimbatore 5. Coimbatore - Chennai Went once to Goa from Coimbatore in XUV 500.

Feel TUV 300 AMT is very much better for long drives. Needs lot more refinement for City drives.

Pros: 1. Commanding drive - High road visibility - Thanks for Tall Boy design and having more height after Scorpio & Bolero.

      2. Low noise Cabin among Diesel SUVs.

      3. AMT transmission is fantastic on long drives and especially hilly roads, climbing up frequent hair pin bends. The one who drives in automatic mode can completely focus on road without worrying about changing gears.

      4. Big Side mirrors gives very good visibility and reduce blind-spots.

      5. Definitely a "big boss ", gives more confidence to overtake other vehicles. The opposite coming vehicle drives are giving space for this vehicle even in smaller roads, which is not possible to get when we drive smaller cars in small roads.

      6. Appearance is like a boss once again when compared to its peers - Ford Eco Sport, Duster or Maruthi Brezza.

      7. Driver information system [DIS] (like Welcome to TUV message, handbrake engaged when driving, doors opened while driving, Seat belt warnings). The voice is very good, Voice DIS is another reason for saying TUV is a Big-boss.

      8. Really able to feel tough shock-absorbs when driving on poth holes , rough roads.

      9. Weighter cabin among peers 1.5 Tone - Eco sport / Nexon are 300 kgs lesser than TUVs 10. Ample amount of space for 5 seats even for fat kings ;-) , the rear row seats are not really considered for passengers even for 1 adult. So I m not considering this car as 7 seater.

Cons: 1. AMT gear-box has considerable amount of gaps / technical issues, requires lot of refinement (Provided detailed problems below).

      2. Low mileage considering lower engine capacity. Average 13 kms with usage in City/Hill. Complete long drive provides 16 kms / ltr.

      3. Engine noise in the cabin is little boring when using in City. Losing the interest to drive. Long drive is good.

      4. Clutch burning smell mostly.

      5. No Hill Hold function for such issues in AMT or in models with manual gear boxes.

      6. High body rolling in corners or when on speed brakes in the road. Anti-roll bars are useless.

      7. Speakers and Audio infotainment is pathetic for such a big car. Could have been improved with Harman as provided in smaller cars like Nexon. I have replaced all speakers with Blaupunk spending few thousands. But didn’t replace amplifier as I do not want to lose the DIS.

      8. Rear Wheel Spin (axle issue).

      9. Feel some difficulty in stopping the vehicle in city traffics, felt it is going out of control and worried if it hits the vehicle goes in front. 10. Ergonomics needs some improvement.

Common Problems: 1. Wheel spin issues when front wheel gets stuck even on smaller uneven road borders or in larger holes. You will need a crane or some other car to recover (It was fixed after replacing the rear Axle with MLD (Mechanical Locking Differential).

      2. Clutch burning issues mostly when climbing uphill or in heavy traffic. I do not sense smell in XUV or any other cars such frequently. Though I reported this issues, service men says it is common in Mahindra or any diesel cars. But i don't believe really.

      3. Heavy Body roll on corners, could not get confidence to turn the cars in corners with faster drive. I sense vehicle may upset if i take quick turns without reducing speed. The entire body shakes if we take the car in speed breakers, even at any low speed. Suspension needs to be better.

      4. Vehicle pulling into corners, though multiple times i have done wheel alignment / rotations, vehicle still gets pulled into left side if I travel in left lane of the road. If I go to extreme right also the same problem. I have to maintain the car in center of the road (in middle of lane guideline), there is no issues.

      5. Tractor like sound (but not often) when taking the vehicle after long cooling period. Also heavy jerks and takes more time to become normal.

AMT issues: 1. 1. AMT Creep delay (It was 2 seconds initially to move the vehicle after take foot from gas pedal / accelerator). After lot many escalations to Sr. Management / Dealer, it was fixed on site (at home). Engg. Visited home and have done firmware upgrade with some fine tuning. After this, problem fixed, now it is just 0.8 Sec. Still it would be good if they can bring it down to <0.5 (similar to Manual gearbox vehicles).

      2. AMT Downhill - Free movement issue (This is a very MAJOR issue) and having failure of engine brakes. In Manual gearbox vehicles, when we travel from hill to down, we use to travel in 2nd gears or max 3rd gear to avoid vehicle moving fast towards downhill and use brakes lesser to avoid brake jams or heating. However TUV AMT is behaving badly here, the engine brakes doesn't work at all unless we slightly press the accelerator. From Zero kms, vehicle will move quickly down in several kms speed / hr though the gear indicates [1] or [2]. If we slightly press accelerator, the clutch will engage the wheels but we will end up in heavy jerks, tire screeches and would really surprise any driver or any pedestrian walking in the road. This has been accepted as problem by Mahindra (through calls only), they agreed to provide a fix down the line. This is not officially confirmed through email or SMS or any written format.

      3. AMT jerks when changing gears. Sometimes there would be time gaps in shifting gears esp. from 1-2 or 2-3. There will be a gap created and we might feel the car is not moving or responding. The moment if you press accelerator pedal heavily, the clutch would engage and car jerks heavily, create big surprise for the driver. This got rectified somehow through fine tuning the Firmware with help of service and also changing the driving habits.

      4. AMT lag and elasticity effect when changing gears. It is very obvious for such a big car with diesel powered engine. Initially I enjoyed when the gears are getting changed automatically, but down the line realized it is no longer fun to drive Conclusion: TUV 300 AMT is really good try for Mahindra and First AMT in SUV. Bossy look, commanding drive, spacy cabin. It is high performance car for sure, but significant refinement required in AMT gearbox, suspension. Otherwise it is good value for money. AMT is good for long drive but not great in City which is supposed to be other way. (It should be good for city). I still enjoy the car though it had few problems, my little kid likes it very much.

Exterior I like the exterior though it's a boxy type. It gives a grand look with front bumpers.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very nice space in front and middle row. Thrid row is also fine. This comes with hand rest which I like the most and useful wile driving.  No storage in dashboard which is missing.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox 85 hp is decent for city ride. But when I took for long drive, it ain't enough to overtake in the highways. Fuel economy withing in city gives always 10 km which is very poor.    I can drive this suv only in crawling traffic with fuel eco mode. Becos, the engine power is switched off completely in eco mode which is useless. In long trips, I could get around 12 km on an average when I drove it around 90-105 kmph with less gear shifts.

After 5000 km, suddenly it started wobbling front and back during driving and engine started making noise like lorry. I stopped my tuv and checked but don't know how come suddenly that much noise coming from engine. I took it to service center next day. They said there are some compliants and recall is required for some problems. After 4 days, I got my vechile and now i am typing this review immediatly.

Gear box is not that bad. But they are long gears but I got used to it within a month. 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th gear shifts are smooth and easy. But 2nd and reverse gear shifts are very hard all the time. I amd usiing this car for last 9 months. Still I am not comforable with 2nd and reverse gear shift.

Ride Quality & Handling Not bad. I could dirve easily on humps. But since the height is more, comfort level is still low on city roads. With bumpy roads, this vechicle is very suitable. Handling wise, I could give 60% rating. Turning radius is high so can't easily park or take U turn etc.

      Exterior

Exterior is JUST AWESOME! This has a lot of prescence on the road. EVERYONE makes way for this car if they see it in the IRVM/ ORVM. But Boxy design is sometimes a problem to average heighted people, the door might hit them on the eyes.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

Excellent. Having used an EcoSport for 2 weeks, I feel this is MUCH more practical. The Boot is over 500 Litres. Legroom isenough for 2 Basketballers to sit one behing other. Floor Hump is Neglegible, which makes this a TRUE 5-Seater (7 is Jump Seats included). Jump seats are much for emergency only or apt for kids. Butterfly windows make this car a LOT more practical to use during Summer-Winter Transition. The AC freezes us to the bones in sseconds. Auto Climate Control is missing, but still, never felt it's absence. Instument cluster keys are nicely spaced out and practical unlike the EcoSport where all keys seem like they are lost in space

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

The power in figures made me feel bad (80 BHP), the KUV also has the same, but this impressed me in driving. Body Roll is a bit much as compared to other competitors. AMT is a FIRST in Segment and is pleasure to drive, but doesn't have the plushness of the standard AT. The Fuel Economy shocked me, just 3 kpl less than what is claimed. Unlike EcoSport or Swift which claim a LOT more than this but bot have a sub-14 kpl mileage. ABS and EBD make braking VERY VERY efficient.

      Ride Quality & Handling

Ride Quality is awesome, suspensions are very absorbant and rarely require us to brake at Speed breakers or Ditches. Also, handling doesn't need us to brake at turns. I don't know why Mahindra made ABS and EBD Standard across ALL variants 😉. Brakes are not used anywhere except signals

      Final Words

Worth the buck and can go for it! Worth it! Is something like a 'Must-Buy'. It is too properly priced at 9 Lakh

      Areas of improvement

Probably NONE. This is a Compact car, for it's level, jump seats are quite comfortable, as even the Fortuner has uncomfortable Last Row of seats.

Space available, Mileage (On-road), Practical bootJump seats are not too comfortable

      Exterior is Good.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Is Good. Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox -Engine is Good, Fuel Average is Ok. Ok.

Ride Quality & Handling TUV300 is NOT GOOD CAR for INDIAN ROAD. It's LIKE a TRACTOR, while u drive on uneven road (Engine POWER is GOOD. Better we can use for FARMING) From 13 march 2018 to 5 April, 2018. My TUV300 Auto shift top model MH-06 - BU- XXXX Black colour was there in Workshop for suspension repairing. But no changes. Their GM & whole engineer team says it is manufacturing fault we can’t do the changes in suspension.

Final Words We have 3 SUV. But NOT comfort in TUV while driving, I already talk with Mr. Sandeep Parab (GM) Technical Head  Mr. Jeetendra TIWARI, Customer Care Sanika Gandhi, Mr. MEHER khanna-7718XXXXXX. Mr. MEHER (Customer care head) says just you write email don’t call us for any compliant.

Areas of improvement I want to sale this vehicle urgently. Please return my cash immediately. My Cell no 0091-9821XXXXXX.

TUV TRACTOR UTILITY VEHICLE. No Doubt about Tractor. Mahindra is always Good in TRACTOR.

AMT Engine is OK.Bad Suspension Like Tractor , No Comfort in this TUV300 ,
