Audi A7 Sportback h-tron concept demonstrates fuel cell technology

After Toyota and Honda, it’s the turn of Audi to go green and unveil an environmentally friendly sedan. The German automaker has taken the covers off the A7 Sportback h-tron which uses a plug-in hybrid setup with a fuel cell as its energy source.

In what seems like a rather complex arrangement, the A7 concept uses a powerful electric motor driven by a fuel cell, in combination with a hybrid battery and an additional electric motor in the rear. There is no mechanical connection between the front and rear axles. As an e-quattro, the A7 Sportback h-tron Quattro manages it torque distribution electrically.

TheA7 Sportback h-tron concept houses four hydrogen tanks which provide a driving range of more than 500km. Like the other two fuel cell sedans unveiled recently by Toyota and Honda, refill takes around three minutes.
